":( " - Reactions to The Viper vs. The Mountain at The Burlington Bar

- By far the best reaction since we started doing these. This one has everything. A big victory, dramatic turn of events and a flatout gross-out moment. Goddamn it Oberyn, you fucking overzealous showboat!

Seriously...the guy who played Oberyn was SO FUCKING GOOD
AKABoondock19 Pedro Pascal
AKABoondock19 He was amazing :'(
billie paraskevo true
A chilean, Oberyn was a perfect role to Pedro
Havier Pena.
I haven't read the books, but the moment Oberyn started monologuing I just thought "no, nooo, noooooooooooooooo!".
Same. As soon as the episode didn't end with them announcing Tyrion's victory, I knew Oberyn was gonna die. I started reading the books during season 5, so I had no idea that Oberyn would die
That scene was all sorts of fucked up. Just nasty. When his teeth were literally punched out of his head I just sat there staring at the TV in disgust when I first saw the episode.
Well, its like the villains who elaborate their plans to the heroes, instead of killing them immediatly.. You know it wont end good for them..
The Mountain did really catch him monologuing
Exactly such my reacrtion
2:47
I love how the guy in the white shirt is just shaking his head, with a look that says all hope is lost
3:05 - High five!
Paul Kellerman link the video :o
TheCheezFace That guy got it. He looked how I felt.
+TheCheezFace I like the guy next to him in the grey shirt. His blank, cold-sweat stare just tells me he's fucking dying inside while those fat thumbs slowly descend into Oberyn's skull. Look at that serious face. He's buttclenching hard as fuck.
+Comical lmao I never noticed him. It's like his face is frozen from sheer disbelief
Problem with guys like Oberyn. They get so good at killing they start to think they're immortal.
Nice quote dude
angry make him weak, got provoked emotional about her sister.
Just like Game of Thrones.......
@@panji_we if Oberyn wouldn't go emotional and demand that confession he d win he just had to slash his throat while he was down lol.
@@marius40838 maybe Oberyn should keep talking, but also look for a good space not to closer from the big guy rofl..
You know that feeling when the good guy is a perilous situation, and instead of killing him, the bad guy just starts to monologue, and that allows the good guy to win/escape?
Well now we know both sides of the feeling.
GRRm is a genius
Z M in subverting *fantasy tropes* not expectations
The Mountain is a good boi
You're right, actually, it is a reverse of a very typical situation Very sad reverse, but it is
Both of them were bad guys. So it didn't matter.
It's so easy to spot the book readers there by just seeing the resignation in their faces while everyone cheers the Viper.
The one girl as she leaned into the other girl. You could tell she knew it was coming.
Lol.
I haven't read them and only started watching this year, almost caught up.
This is by far the only scene that got me.
God I'm sorry but I can't help but wonder what the reaction in this bar was like when Ramsay raped Sansa. That would have been something, for sure.
They are the worst
@@fmg8232 how they obviously are true fans to have read the books
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
+TheDanzomanzo gone wrong
IS THIS NOT WHY YOU ARE HERE?!
no
now i have to go watch that scene
It wa entertaining until Gregor crushed his head
l don't think l could watch GoT in the presence of that many people. l like to do my loud wailing at home all by myself.
CrashN2Me1000 it’s for the people who don’t have HBO at the time
I wouldn't too, but for the opposite reason. Can't stand loud people while watching a movie, I would be standing there annoyed and wanting the Mountain to smash every one of those screeching banshees and soyboy squealers' heads.
@@johnsmith361 same, the fucking people yelling and laughing in EVERY SINGLE SCENE draws me crazy
AdmiralAwesomm and they have for drinks...
mustafa alright jeoffrey jr.
I bet that after THAT you sold drinks like you'd never done before...
I slung a lot of PTSD beers and shots to be sure my friend.
Imagine the amount of drink he must have sold after Hodor's episode... poor Hodor.
I might needed a drink after I frist saw this fight
@@heyheyheyheyheyhey76 what about the red wedding
Haha :D
This was IMO the saddest scene in Season 4 so far :'(
Oberyn really was a nice guy
#truth
Sean L I'm from the UK so I'm staying up until 3 AM to watch the episode :( what do you think will happen this evening?
Harvstermysterinator I know pretty much whats gonna happen cause I've read the books, it will be visceral, surprising and emotional. And the finale, if they're doing something with this one particular subplot, will be the most shocking cliffhanger of the series thus far.
The worst ones always live
Joe Tapson
Ummm... regarding the Mountain you're not WRONG, wrong, but you're not correct either. Let's say it doesn't apply.
Still the most brutal moment so far. I was trying to get my head around it for a good 10 minutes afterwards.
Jack Lewis fr lol I was low-key scarred...watched it on laptop in room with the lights off...after the credits rolled and music was playing I was just sitting there shocked in the darkness processing what happened...first time I finished the credits
10 minutes? It's been *years* ...
I watched it yesterday and I'm still depressed, infact that is the reason I'm here to see people's reactions....as if that could to give some consolation!
@@prateeksaxena9134 me too.. I watched it 3 days ago.. just finished the entire series this was hands down the most brutal moment
@@aazmeerahmed1039 Obviously, it was terrific
1:45 Guy in white shirt's shaking his head despite Oberyn landing blows. I think he read the books xD.
Scorpio Snake or he's like hes getting cocky and the musics changed well hes fucked
Sigh...did we learn nothing from Zombieland? ALWAYS DOUBLE TAP!!
In oberyns defense he did. He stabbed the mountain twice.
Luke Denuelle He knew he hadn't killed him. Point is he was desperate to stir up trouble for the Lannisters instead of just finishing the bloody job.
+Rhamsody Phage Fucking Genius Phrase
And Pacific Rim.
So like, how awkward are the sex scenes in that packed bar?
Okey this is old video but still. Thats funny...

Sean Loftus Thanks sean
I dont know how it took me so long but this part really made me realize that Game of Thrones has no justice
Wow. How much the series changed in two years...
@@Ratchet2431 Nah, it still holds true.
There's no justice to GoT.
video ends at 1:54 no I'm not in denial
nope, ur not. As the raven once said, "it's beautiful beneath the sea, but if u stay too long...you'll drown.."
Wish it really ended there!
You are. You are in denial.
Sorry guys
This need more thumbs up!
Oberyn Martell you had it man....
So close!
you will always be in our hearts
it's ok you did your best
My favourite person is the guy with beard and glasses in the plain white T-shirt. He doesn't react at all. Heartless.
maelstrom197 Whaaaa? He looks real sad and turns away when Oberyn gets killed.
Sean L That guy's reaction was exactly mine. I was shaking my head in disbelief and the instant I realized his would explode I just closed my eyes and turned away as my stomach dropped.
Erdrick68 same reaction, i dont know why the fuck rest of them was so happy after that ending
+maelstrom197 Goodnight sweet Prince
+maelstrom197 He is dead.
I don't get it, am I honestly the only one who was deeply destroyed by the meaning and circumstance of his death, rather than the gore and brutality of it and simple "favorable character killed off" thing?
I mean he exhibited such confidence, such a noble motive for this fight, such dominance... and then in just 15 seconds you can see him completely turned around, crushed, screaming and flailing his arms around helplessly trying to stop the huge guy's fingers from digging deeper into his skull... No speaking on his part, just his screams, his helplessness, his desperation; these just killed me. Had absolutely no mood for 2-3 days after that damned episode. This was borderline Red Wedding shock...
he was full of life and fighting for justice he wants to avenge his sisters brutal death and the result is pain, scream and brain's smashing this is just so wrong sooooo wrong
#nojusticeinwesteros
This sums up how I feel perfectly. Some of my friends just don't get it. "THAT WAS SOOO COOL!"
just...no.
TheGuider I get where you're coming from, but Oberyn was way too confident and when the Mountain got hurt he let his guard down. He basically died because he was driven too much by emotion and that clouded his judgement. As appauled as I was it was a damn good scene! It left you craving more just like the red wedding!
The thing is Oberyn's confidence is what killed him. Sometimes your greatest asset can be your biggest weakness. He was too confident in his pride to let the Mountain die right away.
The dude in the white shirt with the beard knew what was coming the entire time. Sitting quietly watching, and even when Oberyn stabs and floors Gregor, when the camera pans to him he's simply taking a sip of his beer, steeling himself for what's to come. The face of a man that knows sorrow.
I have no idea how there wasn't dead silence in that bar for at least a few seconds. Easily one of the most boneshaking things to happen in the entire history of the show.
AGREED!
Red shirt in the front row had the smug look of a book snob who knew what was coming...until he freaked out. Meanwhile, Serj Tankian in the white shirt found the whole thing rather depressing.
Who would wanna watch a series in a crowded bar? All bodily noises, sniffing, coughing, stupid screaming reactions and probably whispering or someones "funny" remarks would ruin it for me. I watch my episodes alone in my room with surround sound so no fucker would interrupt me.
i assume you spend quite a lot of your time alone in your room
James Saunder ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
When I was in university a very long time ago, we had Deep Space Nine nights. It was fun watching with a bunch of fans on a big screen with a very, VERY good sound system (a pub's).
You seem like a very fun person...
Scenes like these are why I want to watch with people, not a lot of GOT watchers or fans where I come from, the only downside is one fucker read the books and ruin it for them, other than that it'd be fun to participate especially if it was a shocking episode like this.
Although I'm in a different country, and nothing like this happens over here. Thank you for offering people the chance to share Game of Thrones together as a group.
Seriously! That means a lot! You can chill with us through the internet bud!
Sean L It's probably illegal, but it shouldn't be. Seems a good way to watch.
Oy. What makes you say that? Have you done any research to back that up?
***** LOL! No reason on earth it would be illegal. How silly.
Christine Deliz To be fair, it might depend on the country. In the UK at least, pubs and clubs need a licence to show any type of TV show, just like music, they need a licence for music.
LOL the dude at 2:48 "shit aint right bruh..."
Lmaoo he was like shit is not fair
Nate Rivers haha could make a meme with his picture.
This was hands down the most jaw dropping moment for me
And mind blowing for Oberyn!
I'm surprised you can find a room full of this many fans of the television series with seemingly very few book readers.
The number of people that haven't read the books probably outweigh those that have by at least 3:1
I'd say you're conservative with that ratio! I told someone that I've read all the books once and they were surprised to hear that their were books.
georgi stoilov? Maybe English isn't your first language. My initial comment was referring to the fact that if you've read the book you already knew the outcome of the scene, hence not being shocked which most of these people obviously are.
whiskeylung I've read the books...I was still shocked...I knew what was coming, however I didn't think they'd go flat-out disturbing with the scene...you got to take into factor that some book readers maybe had the same reaction as I did...the shock for me wasn't due to the fact that Oberyn lost, it was due to the gore in the scene..just didn't see them going that far I guess...
Yeah I can see that, especially after the red wedding being so tame I was a little surprised, more so by the way he screamed in agony because that was definitely a liberty they took from the book.
The look on the guy with the beard and how he shakes his head @ 2:47 is just priceless! :D
yeah he is terrified XD
And the guy next to him was like "must.. keep.. on.. watching, even though it.. hurts!" xD
hhahahaha it got TOO real for him
He actually works at the bar. Stoic dude from the east coast. One of the coolest/nicest guys ever. Yeah, he was bummed for sure, like we all were.
I bet G.R.R.M watched this and said "If you think this has a happy ending, you havent been paying attention ." =)
To me, this death scene was the one that really shook me. Even though The Red Wedding was truly devastating, this one was REALLY unnerving both to watch theand to read. I don't know why, but it did.
"If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place."
Anyone else covered the right corner while watching this video?
Watching it once was more than enough...
I still can't over it... priceless reactions though!
i sure did
Get it in on Season Six ya'll!! th-cam.com/video/QQIzcJwiLEY/w-d-xo.html

You don't have a reaction to Hard Home? I believe it's S5-E8
Having read the books I really should have saw it coming but the TV show managed to make Oberyn's death far more gruesome '
It was already pretty gruesome in the books too, if I remember correctly. Still, every time I watch the scene, I silently hope that Oberyn will win.
+Imaculata Yeah it is but hearing and watching his head pop verus reading it is completely different.
what did he did to him in the book?
The same as in the book but it wasn't over so quickly.
+motor4X4kombat he like kinda got one hand and jammed his fingers into his eyes and held his head kinda like a bowling ball and then with the other hand just beat his head into pulp similar to how his head looked in the episode by the end
I bet you everyone in that bar ordered twice as many drinks after they watched that scene.
I covered the part of the scene where Oberyn dies with my hand because I can't stand watching that suave bastard's head explode
did you even know what suave means? so ignorant and racist at the same time
manuel medina I'll have you know that my boyfriend is a black woman, so I can't possibly be racist or sexist.
Dogyphil irrelevant, i meant the fact that you americans use words in spanish or in some other language in a sentence that doens't mean shit.
manuel medina Oui oui wienerschnitzel, Your complaint is noted babushka blyat senior.
Goraka91 in my lenguage thats means absolutely nothing. Its like saying ''rude jodedor'' means literally in english ''rude mothafucker''. Please stop doing this

Sean L Where is the battke if winterfell reaction Sean!?
***** Yeah Sean I was looking for it as well, that episode was epic
***** What battle? That was a fail and besides it never happened. *denial*
Yeah I know. Stannis hasn't even shown up at at Winterfell yet. He still has his whole army and shireen too. Haha... Ha... Ohhh man :(
Haha, dude, thanks for taping these crowd reactions. I still find myself thinking about that scene. Goddammit.
feels are hurting for sure.
As a book reader i knew exactly what was going to happen, but this scene still shocked me.. Oberyn was probably my favourite character in the entire series so far, and Pedro Pascal portrayed him so well.. it's a shame he had to go
"HOLY SHIT!"
I couldn't have said it better myself!
Meh. Pretty tame relatively speaking. I almost threw my tv through the window!

velveetaslingshot lol word

I literally ran away from my laptop screen screaming 😱 I felt devastated !!!🥺
the people that read the books in the audience must have been loving the emotional rollercoaster everyone in the bar was going through

Love how the crowd went from full joy, to shocked horror in like 1 minute!
Recommended this 6 years later. 6 years. 6 fucking years it's been since this. Jesus.
Oberyn’s eyes being gouged out and his skull being crushed is what it was like for the audience watching the final season of Game of Thrones 😞.
When I watched this episode I stared at the credits for a good 60 seconds, completely shocked. Then I let out a big "What the fuck!?" Seriously this script, holy shit, amazing. I love how they get me by surprise.
Really late on Game of Thrones but I had this exact reaction watching that scene yesterday.
I know I’m a few years late to the party but I just wanted to thank you for all of the amazing videos. I have been binging on these videos almost daily for months. I absolutely adore them. I live out in Colorado and I would do anything to watch with your viewers. I would have the time of my life. I am half tempted to book a flight to Chicago just to come to your bar I’m not even kidding. Surrounded by a diehard Game of Thrones fans such as myself. It is the most beautiful thing ever written and nothing will ever compare. It is a piece of my life forever. Thank you for all of these videos!
I enjoy watching this show at a friend's house, but man, watching with you guys looks really fun, too. I hope you all enjoy the next season. I love watching people really enjoy the show, thanks for putting these up.
Never did I ever want someone to kill someone as hard as I did in that scene, I felt sick when oberyn died not because of how he died, but how he hadn't avenged his sister and how the mountain got away, I got legitimately angry after this episode because of this happening.
Poisoned spears?
3:05 guy grabs beer . . . "man f this show, I loved that character . . . f"
This was IMO the most gruesome death in the entire series. When I first watched it, I legit had to look away
I had rewatch this like 10 times. I never felt a perfect mix terror, digust, and sadness at the same time.
You know, I really think afterwards you should go around asking for reactions, individually, just 1 or 2. Just a suggestion. Either way, I love this videos.
Neto. That has crossed my mind. I'll look into it.
Sean L I agree with Neto, it sounds interesting :).
Back when GoT was GoT...
I love every single one of these reactions, I wish I could have been there in person along with you all!!
Maaan oberyn pointing at tywin while yelling who gave you the order still gives me chills
Man these are always the best reaction videos! If you're able to, you should try and get reactions for the last 2 episodes as well, both will be crazy and fantastic. If not, no worries, we all got out jobs to do, thanks for the great vids you've already gotten!
Oh hell yeah! I'm on it son!
Shit now I'm stoked more for these reactions then the actual episodes.
***** Tread lightly with those spoilers Captain! ;) I'm a reader, so I'm on it.
Why do so many people think he was showboating? I'd be huge for him if the Mountain would publicly admit that Tywin gave the order, because it would undermine the Lannisters in the eyes of other houses. And with the kingdom still recuperating from the war, Oberyn could probably gain allies to try and overthrow the king.
It wouldn't matter. Everyone already knew that Tywin gave the order, and that he had done things like that in the past. You know the song "Rains of Castamere"? That's about how Tywin murdered an ENTIRE FAMILY (including children, women, and extended family) just because the Lord of Castamere tried to rebel against the Lannisters. And the Mountain had been going around slaughtering people since before the books even started. Nobody really cared.
And Oberyn's mistake wasn't exactly showboating, but it was stupid of him to stand so close to the Mountain. The much smarter thing to do would have been to stand back and stab him with the spear until he confessed. Instead, he wanted to get up close and personal. That's what people mean when they say he was "showboating".
You have a point with the Reynes yeah, but other houses must have hated the Lannisters that much more because of that. But I presume they were too powerful for anyone to do anything about it. Now at the time of war they were far more vulnerable and Oberyn's plan for revenge probably wasn't just go and try to kill every single one of the Lannisters. The duel was a nice opportunity to start with one of the pawns.
And I agree it was stupid of him to stand so close, I think I'd prefer for him to lose in a battle straight up. That whole Mountain is basically done then he reverses positions is kind of a reverse cliche by which we usually see the good guys win. So it was a bit surprising that GRRM took that route.
***** Yop I think you are absolutely correct, and like I said previously I was surprised that GRRM took that route. If Oberyn would simply lose a close fight, that wouldn't be as dramatic obviously, but it would be better as far as I'm concerned.
Well tbh Oberyn lost in the books the same stupid way he did in the series. But the Mountain looked kinda ridiculous in this fight I agree. I was expecting a bit longer fight where Mountain would look fresh in the beginning but then he would start fading, because of his size he obviously can't keep fighting for a long time. And he gets pissed off in the books which also leads to mistakes. At least he broke Oberyn's spear in one instance :D
I've listened to the audio version of the fight from the books since it was accessible quicker and man that would be hard to put on film in it's entirety.
This, to me, was the most horrific death scene in got. It was soooo disturbing
Same it was such an agonizingly awful death (especially since he was incredibly close to victory)
Oberyn Martell is that character I like because he talks a load of shit and backs it up with his skill, but in Ice and Fire that only gets you so far until you get your skull caved in by a genetic freak like Gregor. That and Pedro Pascal portayed him fucking beautifully.
The most intense scene in the whole series, and my second favorite after the explosion of the Baelor Sept. Pedro Pascal is jus to good, passing from being a laughing bully to a raging death bringer, before his own fall.
You are doing the work of the Old Gods and the New! I wish I could visit this wonderful bar when the last two episodes air :(
Keep up the good work and reactions vids!
Thank you! That means alot!
Have a family member who wants to rush to Chicago to be in this bar for the finale.
Love these types of reaction. Please keep up uploading GOT.
That’s the way to do it. When the viewers predict what’s going to happen, make it so very shocking and sudden when it happens. So much so that it’s like they didn’t even predict it at all.
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GGGOOODDD!!! That was AWESOME!!! Joy, exhilaration, and misery all rolled into one perfect scene of misleading triumph and brutal carnage. This is bittersweet because now the red viper is gone, but I know that only means more room for the next favorite new character, or characters to come into play. I can already hear myself cursing George R.R. Martin when they inevitably get killed off in a gruesome death too.
using game of thrones to induce alcoholism is a really smart business strategy, littlefinger would be proud
As would Cersei!
Lenneth Valkyrie disagree about cersei, she's not as smart as she'd like to believe
I always come back to watching these on the run up to the new season. Can't wait.
When Oberyn died i felt something inside me just vanished.
I always forget how 2015 was a nice time, no covid no trump, GoT was on.
Those faces when Oberyn was winning, then the tragedy happened. XD
Awesome you guys all get to do something like this, just a huge group chilling watching GoT :D
Enjoyed this reaction video, one of the best out there! Also, I read some of your comments Sean and I can say that you are a great person. You have an awesome bar, full of awesome people who know to enjoy life! And I admire you for defending those friends of yours against the hateful comments of some sad individuals. Bravo!
Thank you very much sir, that means a lot. It's just fun to mess with people who would say such weird, awful things that they would never DREAM of saying in real life. Just trying to get them to pump their brakes and bit. And yeah, the crowd is super fucking cool and a bunch of nice people. If you ever in Chicago, you gotta come on over sometime!
Its so funny already knowing how it all goes down
As a book reader it gives me a great deal of pleasure in seeing the anguish on the show watcher's faces at key pivital moments such as this one...yesssss.
Almost 7 years from this! Still great.
I love your reaction videos! Please keep them coming!!!
Now...WHO WANTS CHERRY PIE?
too soon...
Amazing!!! Oberyn's death was one of the most brutal and saddest deaths on the show..i almost couldn't sleep on that night..i remember everyone freaking out..his character was awesome!!!
Back when season 4 was showed, I was working in customer service. Every Monday I would wake up at 5 o'clock and would download episode as soon as it uploaded (I suppose to be at 8:00 at work). People at work would always watch the episode later, and some of them would often ask me questions in anticipation. One morning on Monday I came to work with pale face and didn't want to talk to anyone about the episode or anything else. They knew that the episode is about "Trial by Combat" and I like Oberyn's character but they were not sure why I was so disappointed. They found out later that day though.
Please! Tell me you guys will be doing these again for season 5!
uh huh
Really? ?? Awesome!
Sean L Why none? :(
Sean L when? it's nearly over
Patience
dammit Oberyn you should have just finished him off.. You almost had him! -.-

These reactions are gorgeous! Wish you had more lol
Haven’t watched this vid for a long time but retrospectively, it’s a lot of fun watching y’all at 1:50! Oh, it ain’t over yet!
Never monolog, it always gets you killed.
I've never been so nervous about a movie scene in my life like this. I was legit shaking the entire fight scene, only Game of Thrones can do that to a man
These videos are amazing. I wish I lived wherever this is, id be there every week
this is awesome, i love how there's so many of you gathered to watch it :p
i just came here after eatching season 8.. this reaction is pure gold😍
Despite seeing that scene twice before, by jaw still dropped and I was cringing so hard when things went bad. Damn this show is good!
Awwwhh makes me sad everytime. Oberyn was on for a short time but he made such an impact! RIP
I can't wait for you guys to come back!!!!!!! 4 more months!!!
BRUTAL!
That woman's shocking act was so good when oberyn died
Sean L, thanks for your vid, hope to see new in season 5. You're awersome
Dude the vids for season 5 are totally coming. It is known.
One of my favourite ever reaction videos. Funny when you pause at 3:22 and the dark haired guy with a moustache on the left has exactly the same facial expression as Tyrion 😅😅
