She is stunning 😍 feel sorry for obt's they get such a bad rap because of some stupid ppl poking and upsetting them before they make their vids so they get a nasty reaction for the video and then get more views because the poor spider freaked out , such a shame because as you've just proven if given respect and treated right they aren't as bad as ppl make them out to be. Great video as always Dave, Camera Lady she's perfect 🥰

If people get worried about their Spider after a rehouse, what I used to do, is place a couple of crickets in the enclosure after a rehouse or cleaning of the aquarium and my Spiders used to calm down as they began to eat. Only once did I try to breed 1 of my females, after finding out that I had a male, but she ate him instead. But anyway, I never worried about my Spiders because of all of the years of dealing with them even when I was catching Spiders as a child!

This is exactly what i have been saying, OBT's have a reputations as mean, agressive etc.. even they can be really nice spiders. They just dont handle stress very well. But definetly they arent agressive. I just love these videos❤ Allways high respect towards spiders and great info! 😊

@@denisetaylor4567 I can believe that 😄 I have 5 OBT:s and all of them are quite laid back spiders, surely they are fast moving and reactive but not mean or angry at all.. They hide fast but when i need to do some maintenance they dont mind at all, just be nice and slow 🥰 They can be pretty curious too, its bit scary at first, calmness is the key. We have a curlyhair too, but she is just chilling in her cottage allways and do not enjoy visitors at all 😂 kicks hairs pretty easily 😄 I just LOVE OBT 😄 they are wonderful spiders 🥰

You are so methodical and prepared. I don't even watch other spider videos because the keepers think they have to act like clowns and then they play with the spiders like they are toys. We are keepers, not children acting with abandon with living things. Kudos to you, sir.

Very good video, as always! Anyway, the reason why they can climb glass it's not the claws. The claws can't do anything on the glass. Their legs have scopulae, very very thin hair having a lot of surface. This surface allows to adhere to the glass thanks to the Van der Waals forces at molecular level

Beautiful OBT Dave, amazing addition to your collection and channel! Just wanted to comment regarding the mesh segment of the video and share my recent personal experience. I lost my P.metallica back on the 10th of April when she got one of her front legs AND the opposite side back leg stuck on the mesh of an Exo nano tall. I knew she was due any day for a molt and she actually attempted to molt to free herself but obviously couldn't move her two stuck legs. The carapace popped and the abdomen started to peel away, but that's as far as she made it. By the time I got home and found her she was completely lifeless, fully stretched out, stuck to the mesh. Her death was no fault of her own. That one is on me as I had the plexiglass and tools to remove the mesh and mod the lid and should have done so before putting her in. I put her in thinking, meh, I'll replace it before it's an issue. She was in there less than a month before tragedy struck. My P.irminia got stuck to the mesh while I was home the very next day and I was able to free her. The mesh in all my exo's (luckily only 3 of them in use so far) was removed and replaced with drilled plexiglass that same week. I am glad you've not experienced such a tragedy in your collection as of yet. Be it 40 years or just 1 short month, it's not a problem until it is.

@@daveslittlebeasties I was heartbroken to be honest. Mostly that I wasn't at home to help her. I think that was the worst part, knowing she got stuck there and suffered there while I was away doing life things. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply! I mean no disrespect, just wanted to share why I won't leave the mesh in them in the future! It was a sad outcome for sure. I even kept a rose hair on 2 inches of sub (cause people said to back then) in a 10 gallon with a mesh lid for over 10 years without an issue. Ya just never know I guess. Looking forward to your next video! Happy keeping!

That video was so fun! I always learn so much from you. I have 2 OBTs and they are juveniles. I think they are super sweet. I’ve never gotten a threat pose and so far they don’t ever seem defensive. I have an LP that is much more… well… hungry than most of my Ts. It scares me a little. It learned that when I open up the enclosure that food is coming. I wish she would settle down.

Beautiful spider as always. I'm not too surprised at how well the rehouse went, you truly have a gift with these. As far as spiders not losing their grip, my B. boehmei often climbs around and more often than not, if she's roaming on the lid, she'll lose her footing and fall down to the substrate. Her enclosure is 2/3 filled with sub, which is more than adequate to ensure she doesn't suffer any serious falls.
Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

Thank you so much Dave! I have worried about mesh screens for years and also have been terrified my heavy-bodied terrestrial babies might fall and injure themselves. Sometimes we overthink and lose faith in our animals due to either outdated information or through posts that exaserbate situations. I have been told never to put anything in my tarantula enclosures that comes from outside. That's about to change. I also agree that with gentle care and respect, it's the best way to keep our spiders from dealing with unnecessary stress. Thank you again!

Dave, I will mention one issue I have had specifically with a Komodo mesh top. I set one up for a sub adult B boehmei. A couple of hours after homing it I found it upside down on the mesh lid in apparent distress. Looking close I saw that it had both fangs stuck in the mesh. Managed to free it by opening the lid enough to get a catch cup underneath and then applying pressure to the fangs using a plastic straw. They really were stuck too - took some pressure to free her. In hindsight the spider was too small for the enclosure, but thought I’d share this.
Otherwise, great video. Had my birthday yesterday and my daughter bought me a 3cm OBT RCF. I laughed watching your vid as I had set the the enclosure for the sling in exactly the same way (much smaller scale of course). Added a few dried leaves for more hiding spaces too.

AWESOME video Dave shes a BEAUTY I love my OBTs I did have 3 but down to a unsexed juvie and an adult female now but will be getting another at some point they do have a bad rep due to people not giving them the respect they deserve poke and prod them they will defend themselves leave them alone they leave you alone I was tagged by a large female years ago but that was my fault not paying attention but I give them respect always I have noticed the males hook out small too

A happy day...and an OBT! I'm watching your video from the communal laundry room dear David and Sweet Camera Lady! It has been a slightly different morning and I have hurt one knee and find it hard to walk and do the daily chores etc. I do my best despite that but if I was a spider with eight legs that would have been a great help today when I'm limping along the best I can with my two legs!

Lovely coloring on her and she does look quite healthy with that perfect bum! Camera Lady did well going back for her. She was almost docile going into her new enclosure. Good work Dave and Camera Lady!

Great vid as always. I have three OBTs and have never had a threat pose from any of them. I currently have 28 tarantulas and had my 1st threat pose from any of them the other day from my Harpactira pulchripes sling, spider version of short man syndrome I think 😂 I love the markings on OBTs and have two rcf's and a bcf. Looking forward to getting the other colour forms soon.

You are so peaceful! I try to treat my tarantulas with gentleness and respect when I have to move them and I feed right after so they don't stay upset with me. Beautiful spood, great video!!!
