It's almost impossible to replicate what City have done, it's much more than just pumping money into a project. They've sustained long term success over a decade combining a top class academy, top facilities, top boardroom, consistently top management and an elite squad that they keep replenishing. They've built a dynasty and they're still hungry to get that UCL to make the final step which would launch them higher into European football. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon, they are still growing. So many things need to go right and so many good decisions need to be taken to sustain something like this.

The answer is obviously yes. The clubs that win the leagues are nine times out of ten the club with the most money. That being PSG, Bayern, City etc does not matter. It might take a longer time for Newcastle as they will face more obstacles than Manchester City but they spend enough money in the next 5-10 years and they will start to win..

As an Everton fan we’re a very good blueprint for Newcastle to show them how NOT to approach things. We are a very minted club now thanks to the takeover of Moshiri. Moshiri has been very generous and willing to spend lots of money on transfers however for the last 5 years it’s been woeful spending. 500 million in 5 years just to be 15th. We spent lots of money on players close to or at 30 such as Yannick Bolasie, Delph, Sidgurdsson who are past their prime, on high wages and who just don’t care at all about this club. Not to mention 35 million for Alex Iwobi! So we’ve had the investment and money. Money and the ability to spend is absolutely not an issue for Everton is just that we spend it very poorly on woeful players. City have been a success because of their fantastic structure, and investment. They spend money wisely on players that make sense. That’s what the likes of us got wrong is that we don’t know how to buy players. So that’s the difference. Newcastle should be careful they don’t go down our route. Money isn’t the be all end all

Biggest deference between City and Newcastle as someone who has followed City(ironically since the year after City beat Newcastle in the 76 League Cup final)is that there was a level of patience with City and the club wasn't fighting relegation. Newcastle need to avoid relegation at all costs especially with FFP as it stands and then for the fanbase to be understanding that likely the majority of the players you get will be people that have question marks over them, because the very best players will still go elsewhere, it will also be interesting to see if Newcastle can be an attractive place for people to relocate to (we all remember Keane's comments about getting players to Sunderland). Finally I don't think its fair comparing anyone to City because they where extremely lucky and had alot of things align many beyond their control, such as the fact United where coming to the end of their domination within the game and being extremely poorly managed(I mean as a club as well as as a team), the introduction of FFP after the horse had bolted, many of our risky transfers not only turning out well but players of generational ability.

Running around like headless chickens kicking people might have worked in the 80's but you can't do that now and because pitches are so good the best teams will pick you apart. I think Trippier is a good signing and more like him will follow. A good example of building a club is that of Chelsea. They added experience to a younger team and built from there.

Klopp, Simeone, Erik ten Hag, even Rogers (I know these are top managers) but they all show different types of aggression/ assertion. Trippier is an amazing signing, I just hope he would go the extra mile to keep them up.

Newcastle have a large passionate fan base. I enjoyed travelling to St James Park, back when I used to go to games. The fans getting behind a decent team will lift them to another level. However, it will be hard initially to attract the very best players until they crack top 10 as you say, from there it will be a great journey for the Geordies, but that's a couple of seasons off yet. Will be interesting once that does happen to see how the league plays out. The current established top clubs will be fighting tooth and nail to stay there.

However I have been watching religiously for the last 15 years and I do not believe that New Castle will ever be as good as a team on and off the field as Manchester City. Newcastle's players and managers are not held to the highest team the high discipline the high professional player mentality that Manchester city has but no other league in the premier League has what they have. All the teams have been trying to pull off what Manchester city has been doing they won't be able to although Liverpool came quite close last year Newcastle will never be that close. And I personally can't wait to hear that New Castle has been relegated

Man city were still a decent mid table club before takeover and yet it took them 4 years to win the league. Newcastle are in relegation zone and will most likely be relegated. And hence first they will have to qualify and then build squad. Can't see them winning even domestic cup in 5-6 years.
