This one is my favorite. Fighting against those 4 counterattack Elite Four because they have Ghost, Dark, Psychic, and Fighting types. The best ones that are superior in every way while they gave each other's weaknesses. "Ghost is weak to Dark Type. Shauntal loses to Grimsley." "Dark is weak to Fighting type. Grimsley loses to Marshal." "Fighting is weak to Psychic Type. Marshal loses to Caitlin." And lastly, "Psychic is weak Ghost and Dark Types. Caitlin loses to Shauntal and Grimsley, but then vice versa, Grimsley betrayed Shauntal and won". And the cycle between those Elite Four trainers continued over and over again nonstop.

Captain Woolbeard It really do tho. Gen 5 hit different lmao. This is like the only set of Elite Four that actually gave me legit anxiety as I fought them. Other Elite Four were challenging, but these were the only ones to truly keep me on the edge of my seat.

Gen 5 had some absolute bangers in it's OST, and you're doing it justice.

Honestly Marshal and Grimsely were easiest for me.
Then again, my team consisted usually of an extremely strong fighting type and a grass type that can learn other moves, sometimes my starter would join in(except for when I beat the game, that team was entirely created just to beat them. Cofagrigous for Caitlin/Shauntal, Musharna for Marshal and tanking, Emboar for Grimsley sprinkled with other mons.)
When Shantal sends out Giratina, Grimsley sends out Yveltal, Caitlen sends out Mewtwo, and Marshal Sends out the Swords of justice

I think the only game where something like that happens is Platinum (not sure about Diamond and Pearl), but all you get is the post-game rival battle gets higher levels depending on how many times you beat the elite four and you get a piano for the villa that plays Cynthia’s theme

I loved fighting these guys. They had so much character in their designs and the short conversations before the fight, as well as what pokemon they used. Not to mention the actual battles were a blast to play.

Energy Ball is a grass type move
This Elite Four's theme makes them so imposing, while also getting you hyped for the fight. Even multiple runs/tries are just as exhilarating thanks to this theme. Easily my most favorite theme from all of Pokemon

Me too , my first run was with emboar and I got wrecked way more than i can count

I remember how the Ghost one's Chandelure absolutely rekted me. Half my team was weak to Fire + No counter for Ghost types. Tho, I had no problems with the other E4 members.
The irony is that it took me more attempts to beat that Chandelure than I took to beat Iris.

For me it’s usually Caitlyn and Marshal that pose real threats. I agree that Grimsley doesn’ give me much trouble, but neither does Shauntal usually tbh

Caitlyn and Shauntal were the hardest to me, Grimsley was easy and Marshall I defeated with only Serperior
Honestly, Marshal was the only easy one in my opinion. Caitlin was a little difficult, but a few Heat Crashes and her fight was done. No, my main problem was Shauntal and Grimsley. Shauntal had that stupid Froslass who saw my team and was like "ah, yes, excuse me, do you mind if i nuke your team with 100% accurate blizzards?", that damn Cofagrigus that just burned my Golurk over and over, Jelicent was just a annoyance, and we all know how her Chandelure is. Grimsley would ALWAYS crit on his Krookidiles earthquake like CLOCKWORK and one shot my Emboar even at Level 100, Sharpedo had Aqua Jet for priority and Earthquake as well just to be a dick, Lipard had Fake Out to be annoying, but after that wasnt so bad, and Scrafty had Moxie to boost its attack when it kills one of my mons.

Mega Azalea Funnily enough I like Caitlin and Marshall the most because I find them to be the toughest in battle. But I tend to like characters more if their fights are harder lol.
My favorites are definitely Shauntal and Grimsley. I love that Shauntal is a nerdy little writer, and Grimsley...well, he’s basically a vampire and that’s pretty awesome.

Honestly the Élite Four of 5 is still my favorite group to battle against only beaten by Gen 7s Élite Four.
They werent imposible but they definetely gave you a run for your money.
