Photo Restoration Tutorial - Part 6 - Content Aware Fill
This is a free seven-part video tutorial demonstrating how to restore old family photos using Photoshop. This is Part 6 in the Walls Family Photo Restoration Project on Genealogy TV. This episode demonstrates how to use “Content Aware-Fill” to replace missing parts of an image. This tutorial uses Adobe Photoshop CC.

If you use content aware fill in situations like this, it's a good idea to expand your selection by a few pixels. Go to select, then modify and then expand. The exact number depends a little on the size and resolution of the image you're working with, but generally about 5 pixels tends to work in most situations. Then apply content aware fill and it will happen and not leave you with a trail or ghost that needs further fixing.
