I had to adjust my LMF and HPF more extreme than what you show to get my humming out. I got the line so it takes a steep dive around 100. I got the LMF at: 4 FREQ: 120 GAIN -13 . For the HPF I put that at FREQ 90. I didn't need to touch the MF or HMF. So that did the trick. My audio is pristine now. I would suggest that people play around with the settings (grab the little balls and move them around) to get it to do the job just right. It took me a few minutes but it was pretty easy. My own singing voice is on the track so I could lower that low frequency tone way down with no change at all in the sound of the vocal. Thank you for this video Linkedin Learning!
working on a show right now on avid and this literally has saved a couple scenes thank youuuu!!!!!!!!
GREAT tutorial, I got it and it's my first time using Pro Tools! (Im starting a podcast :) ).
Thank you VERY much.
Love from Lima, Perú.
The one thing I noticed in the bad audio hum was that the note B4 was playing throughout, or 493.88 Hz. So you could also take that out, which was close to 480 anyways. Doubling the Hz levels was very unique actually, it almost follows the overtone series in a sense of harmonious notes. Very good tutorial.
i know this is an old comment but how could you tell it was B4?
This is an extremely helpful video. Very well done. Thank you so much, sir!
Awesome video :) helped me fix up a little guitar amp fuzz, MUCH APPRECIATED!
wow you're freaking amazing, thanks so much for this!
thanks for the tutorial, it sure helps a newbie hone navigational skills
Sound, I learnt something else. Thanks buddy.
Invaluable! Thankyou.
Excellent! Thanks!
WHOA!! This will help alot. Thanx!
Thank you - exactly what I needed to learn!
Do a noise gate and band pass. The noise gate will get rid of the mostly silent noisy parts while the band pass will get rid of low and high frequency hums. Set the high pass filter to 60 Hz at 24 dB/oct and the low pass filter to 8 kHz at 24 dB/oct.
A much better way would be to get a FFT noise profile and then subtract it from the waveform, but Pro Tools doesn't seem to have a built-in way of doing this as far as I know.
What are the plug in names ???
wow thanks this is great!
The harmonic scale would be multiples of the fundamental in this case 60hz. So the harmonic scale would be 60 (fundermental), 120(first), 180(2nd), 240(3rd), 300(4th), ect. It wouldn't just double.
Life saver, ffs YESSSS ohmy goshhh I literally tried lowering db's to zero lol thank you thank you
Use a Dehum tool. It IS an Eq. Once we set the fundamental freq, here 60 Hz, it works out the harmonics for us. We can add as many or as few harmonics as we like. The Dehum also uses filters with a Q probably higher than the 10 as here in Protools. Also much easier to use when the frequency is not an even number like 60 Hz but say 53.3 Hz. If we get the fundamental right, it works out the harmonic series for us. To my ears this hum has about 10 tones, too much for a 5 band parametric. My simple Acon Dehum tool can attenuate up to 95 harmonics.
friend I want the eq 3 7 band but I manage the cubase 5 it will be that if it is compatible, and if it is compatible it has the download link for cubase 5
thank you! :)
Helpful video 💯🇯🇲
Would this solution usually happen around 50hz in european countries??? Very good video.
hissing sound or white noise in pro tools (10,11,12)solution
if u use waves plugin dbx160 and h delay then replace it from any other delay n compressor with the same setting...
i have the same problem but no article is available on the internet, after a long hours finally i found the solution.
this not ur pro tools problem ,this is the problem of ur plugin so check and replace the plugins...
You're the fucking goat
Hi, I don't have hums but whenever I'm on protools starting to record my voice is projecting through the keyboard without the mic plugged in, please how to solve this problem.
correct me if i am wrong, but if you want to remove background noise using an EQ like in your first example, surely one would have to remove all the integers of the frequency in the harmonic series (untill 20Khz) and not just double, quadruple etc which would only remove the octaves of that frequency?
I agree - the harmonics are made by fundamental * N so he should've gone 60 120 180 240 300 because those are multiples of 60 Hz
yes he forgot the third harmonic at 180. actually all he had to use is a high pass filter.
It depends on how many harmonics there are. Sometimes none, sometimes a few, sometimes a lot. Only remove them if they're there.
sweet...thx
I think isotope plugins like de noiser and de Hummer are better than regular Band 4-7 EQ
Thanx :)))))))))) !!!!!!!!!!
I still hear the hum no matter what you do with the EQ
You need to use a Dehummer
or its ur headphones
Same with me. Watching in my phone
I got my humming out completely (for a track that had just a female vocal on it and the typical low electronic hum). Pull your line down on the left side with the two low frequency balls. Try setting the HPF to FREQ 90. Get the line so it takes a steep dive on the left side - for me the line dives down at 100. That will get rid of a lowish electronic type hum.
@@LisaMurphy No, that removes sound below 100 Hz which could be important musical information. Below 100 Hz there's only one offending tone at 60 Hz, so only target that. There's still some risk we will remove a wanted bass note but it's far less likely than the broad sweep approach of a HPF.
I have a problem and don't know how to fix it. I recorded an interview with an external rode mic and forgot to change the camera settings to manual, so when I watched the videos everything was way to loud and every time the person took a pause, the noise would go up to fill the silence and when they talked the noise would lower, if that makes sense. Hope I explained myself well and that someone can help me. I tried the noise reduction in audition you can still hear the elevation of the noise in the very beginning of every pause. Help please
what about Pro Tools Express ???
Hey my issue is every time I use a compression plugin in my mix, the noise exist. I tired using less plugins in channels but still have problems. What can I do ???
I need the compression
Why Routing settings changing automatically while recording a voice in pro tools 10HD.and also ProTools software quits while working
Can you please any one tell me the solution for this problem
Please help me
cool I only new Izotope for rmoving sound
Does this tutorial apply to "Pro tools SE" ?
How to add file types to your export options?
protools not iZotope
I'll use audacity after bouncing it
But HONESTLY 😂
No need to complicate things...
I recommend Clear edge for all you guys, it's the best in noise suspension, and it won't distort speech.
In simple words: it's out f the box
Also, it's free!

I think fl studio is more easy
Is it me? Or is there no difference
You sound like you have a frog in your throat permanently. Good job though
