At last! Someone who can reduce explanation to exactly what needs to be known, in the fewest possible words. Now all I need is to find are Astin's explanations of EQ, Normalisation and compression, if they exist. Thank you for this one!
Very rarely do I find a tutorial video (of any kind) that I don't close after 3 minutes of utter confusion and frustration. I don't think it is because of my incompetence or unintelligence but rather because the tutorial itself is done in a very inefficient and illogical manner that I can't follow. This is an extremely well done tutorial. You are straight to the point, and explain everything in a clear and concise manner that doesn't veer from the subject matter nor overwhelm the subject at hand. 👏Well done 👏PS... It seems you have stopped pursuing tutorials on youtube (which is a shame 😥) but I am sure you are being equally as helpful in whatever alternative activities you are doing. Peace be with you!
I watched three vids prior to this one and got an idea of what compression is. He cleared it up completely. Great, simple video. I even subscribed I was so impressed.
Finally a video that properly explains and demonstrates the compressor in pro tools or in general. I understood the reason for compression, but I am new to recording my music. You have clearly explained in a simple and easy to follow way. I think the major blockage for me has been the language, and understanding what each control did. I was completely clueless trying to figure it all out by myself, and tearing my hair out. I found other videos impossible to follow, because they go at lightning speed and much of it tends to be geared to people who are more experienced with recording and even using a computer in general. I struggle a bit in that way. Thank you so much for this tutorial. you are an incredibly gifted teacher. Thank you for not going 100 mile an hour 💖✨
how do you compress with a quiet vocal that isn't showing gain reduction ? to see gain reduction do we increase or decrease threshold? thanks for your videos !
Thank you for the video. I'm trying to compress a voiceover that has a very wide dynamic range. It's acting, and there are very very quiet parts and very very loud parts. I need to split the difference without the RMS going too low, but also without the loud parts sounding crushed/almost like they're clipping. Any advice?
This has to be the best video about compression out there
I been watching compression videos to understand it this way. All the other videos weren’t as simplified as this video.
This is BY FAR the greatest explanation video on compression. So many others over complicate it to such an annoying degree.
On my life

Easily the best explanation I have found after looking EVERYWHERE.
I really like the way you present things. No theatrics, comedy, or patronizing. I love that. Thank you!
