They were originally recorded around the same time. Michael was playing with those kinds of rhythms in the mid 90's, so believe they sound similar because of that.
MJ and Rodney Jenkins wrote a great album that was fresh for 99, but MJ stalled, so it wasn’t so fresh in 2000 as Jenkins gave that sound to other artists. So MJ ended up getting songwriters from the Dangerous era. That’s why the album is a mess with no cohesion.

I always loved this part 1:34, as it was one of the reasons why i wanted that Michael would've finished the lyrics, this along with the trumpets that can be heard often during the song.
Michael did finish this song, this is an early version. There was 2 tracks that was considered to be in the TUC but the one with the complete lyrics aren’t available yet. Only this rough demo Michael released
I wish he finished this song. I know that it probably became ''Serious Effect'' but I enjoy this version a lot more. This honestly had the potential to be among my favorite songs of his. That chorus is to die for, and don't get me started on the instrumental.
_Serious Effect_ ? As far as I know, _Serious Effect_ was created during the _Dangerous_ sessions? I think Michael used, at least partially, a part of _In the Back_ in another song! I think it was _They Don't Care About Us_ ! The bass line which we can hear in _In the Back_ is used in _They Don't Care About_ as the famous aggressive guitar part/bridge in the middle of the song! But just a little faster, though. But the melody still remains almost the same, in my opinion. :)
You're right, man. I saw a few people say that this turned into ''Serious Effect'' so I just assumed that they knew what they were talking about. The comment still is wrong because Earth Song and They Don’t Care About Us was recorded during the Dangerous sessions and a earlier demo of Earth Song is leaked where it’s only a piano and Michael’s voice So yes the song is apart of History and making those songs off of the history era and into dangerous

In the part 'just stop doggin me around'
such a badass sounding song
This song is catchy the estate should release this.
I agree
We need a Acapella version of this and shout to fully understand what he is saying
I can understand fully what he's saying in both shout and this.
@@ChillBell how the instrumental is higher than is vocals
@@wwethemesandmore9389 i can clearly understand him, maybe bad headphones? i mean i dont understand all of it because its michael and he sometimes doesnt sing that clear but the most.
@@rez3594 I have good headphones skullcandy bass the 150$ headphones
@@wwethemesandmore9389 to be honest skullcandys are not really good sorry.... And bass takes away detail ^^ (expensive isnt allways good) if i speak about good headphones i mean something like HD58X or DT880
Sounds like something you would hear in a Persona game. And I absolutely love it!
Omg I know right
I love this song
Today's so-called "entertainment" could never beat Michael's demo songs or his original songs. Nobody could beat his populatiry.
Absolutely love this ❤️
Michael it's like other dimension,if you know that i mean!
Finished or not...still can beat any song out....
everyone involved in the making of invincible should be arrested for not putting this in the album
True, this song was conceived in 1994, recorded in 1995 and reworked for Invincible sessions. But I think it got re-recorded again just before The Ultimate Collection release, in late 2004, in order to cope with the Arvizo allegations.
Did he write this for Chandler and re record it for Arvizo?
@@globalcitizenn That's a possibility, yeah. I can't confirm it 100%
another great beat by the King
If you really want to understand what mj was trying to say or understand the energy in what he was trying to display in this song. Listen to Rocky Raccoon on the Beatles (The White Album) then come back and listen to this song! MJ is soo dope!!
really cool and creative use of sample granulation effect, which is usually viewed as an undesirable artifact of stretching, here used to awesome musical effect
The horns & violins, arrangement are similar to the Temptations 'Popa was a rollin stone'
My favorite song✌🏻❤
I heard that song in the ultimate collection album by michael jackson 2004, He awesome.
This sounds a lot like Why You Wanna Trip On Me. I wish he would’ve finished this song. 😩
"da da da da da"
Why you stab me in the back?
There is rumoured to be a more complete demo but it has yet to surface. The song title was listed in early versions of BOTDF.
Shame we don't have a full version of this, because the song is really good!
Amazing... wonderful ❤
Seems like Janet later used that da-da-de-da technique in broken hearts heal.
I like this song very much
Me too
Even if he released it like this it would be a hit.
"In The Back"
You're just preaching the Bible and they still speakin you're a lier
And you still deal with the fires
That they made...
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah, you
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
Why you wanna get me?
Dreams don't last forever
Why you wanna fix me?
See, if the police don't take it
God forsake it
I can't take it
Why you stab me in the back?
We're so gonna loose
And she, knows they got this to be
She... I dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah people
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
Why you wanna get me?
This dude won't last forever
Why you wanna hit me?
See, if the police don't take it
God forsake it
I'll fell breaking
Why you stab me in the back?
This song feels more align with Invincible then HIStory. I like this even in it's unfinished state. Like it better then Heartbreaker or even Invincible if I'm being honest.
i wish this song was finished more
King of pop genius
Just can see a music video going in to this song dang🤦♂️
i'm thinking about something. Right down, in the comments, people is saying this was from HIStory (i mean, recorded between 1994 and 1995). I ask Had that people read the comments that Sven put first? I can read it right now
The comment still is wrong because Earth Song and They Don’t Care About Us was recorded during the Dangerous sessions and a earlier demo of Earth Song is leaked where it’s only a piano and Michael’s voice
So yes the song is apart of History and making those songs off of the history era and into dangerous
This version is from 1998
