Michael Jackson was always polishing his game and so dedicated to his art - this album sounds like a transition into a new kind of era for him. Listening to this and thinking of all the amazing music that he would have gone on to create had he not died...I feel like we were deprived of a genius.

This song is a surreal masterpiece. From the lyrics, the vocal arrangements, the instrumental, to the super cute "thank you Carlos" that Michael says at the end. Decades for me, and I still can't figure out how this has escaped my attention, because you can bet, if I've ever heard any of these before I'd remember it, but it was a busy and controversial time, I refused to accept and I heard Sony didn't sell, advertise much, or even make any videos. Still we've had TH-cam and so many other ways to find music that's out there, I pray there is more recordings that will turn up. Someone has to realize it's a literally goldmine, waiting to be shared.
Now, I do remember that video from Invincible called Cry, it was an amazing movement called Hands Across America, which I think was achieved, somehow. Only Michael could have inspired that kind of unity, which was stronger back than, theft they want to admit today, sadly. We need to share that song as much as we each can, to break down these silly barriers people keep building to control us. Michael wouldn't have any of that, he never did. Peace and love.

He actually wanted to release this song as a single, and make a short film for it, but Sony refused because they wanted the album to flop.
Same with Unbreakable and Threatened.
I doubt anyone will believe this, but Michael didn’t write this song. Geoffrey williams wrote it whilst he sat in his Austin Maestro waiting for me and my friend when we took her to the hospital. It was a couple of years later that michael recorded it, and Sony insisted on MJ and QJ getting a creator credit.
@@gypsyminx No. Gil Gang and Geoffrey Williams wrote the song in 1997, but it was completely different. In 2000, they released their demo version on MySpace, and it was kinda like this version, but less complex. The singer Mario Vasquez liked the song and he showed it to Teddy Riley. Teddy Riley then showed it to Michael, and he liked the song too.
Teddy Riley, Michael Jackson and Jasmine Quay then wrote new arrangements for the song, and got co-writer credits.
Michael didn't work with Quincy Jones since 1987, so QJ has nothing to do with this song.

He was always really good at sharing credit that way. I heard him singing it into his dictaphone the day we came back from the hospital.
I agree it's possible, I am confusing teddy Riley with quincy. Of course there are altered arrangements and the carlos additions, but the essence of the original song, chords, melody and lyrics on guitar was created by GW.
