Well you don't play legit live versions of subtle fantastic beats without a brilliant timekeeper! Its a great celebration of the instrument indeed - he's a boss!
I tried to play drums with an electronic band and its really hard to keep up with the programmed syths, pads and etc i even used monitors just to keep up with the band. it takes patience and a lot practice. UPS to the drummer. clearly, HE'S ON POINT blends with the band well.

I had forgotten I even posted this, after terrible breakup I went back to the sounds that made me feel happy again. And here above the ghost if a man that would have turned back time if he could. Anyone reading this just do what you want. There are no rules.
+God Darkside is really good but calling them similar to Tycho is odd, I see very few commonalities between them. Similar artists to Tycho (dreamy, positive downtempo) include Boards of Canada (esp. The Campfire Headphase), Yppah, Manual, Ulrich Schnauss, Broke for Free, Bibio, Hatchback, Christ., Shigeto, Teen Daze (earlier work). That's all I can think of for now :)
This is the best thing that ever happened to me. I listen almost exclusively to Tycho, it's the music dreams are made of. I imagine that's what I'm going to hear as I'm dying and on my way to what's next. I love how the songs are mixed up just a little but still evoke the exact same emotions except even better since you haven't heard them in quite this way so far. Makes me wonder if my life would have been different if these versions were chosen for the studio albums. I lost my shit when I watched this last night. Tycho is my church.
The drummer (Rory O'Connor) makes incredibly elegant choices. That's what sets great musicians apart from the herd; the choices. Beautifully interpreted. For incredible choices and what I think is the epitome of the "Modern Drummer" please check out JoJo Mayer and his project Nerve. Amazing stuff.
I love Tycho! They create the most perfect music to draw to and get into the zone with....but I can't imagine what it would be like to see them live??? They are coming to my town in 2 months...do I bring my sketchbook to the show with me? Haha...but forreal.
Yeah, this is some pretty sweet, chill stuff.... could listen to these guys most of the day... I was playing this music at an outdoor roller rink in SoCal - my son was practicing some hockey stuff - and a few people just started hanging out, watching my son practice, and chatting - it was like the music relaxed people and their friendly side was exposed... :)
Drum fill at 41:55 (fill actually starts at 42:03) Rory is such a good addition to Tycho, he is a freakin monster! I’m glad Scott scooped him up after Com Truise, he has such energy but doesn’t take away for the chill vibe of Tycho!
Wow they have a lot of stage presence for a Boiler Room set which is usually a guy and his MacBook. They are actually playing instruments and stuff. Great musical performance, visuals and stage presence.
I was very surprised and extremely pleased to hear and see them perform Past is Prologue. I didn't think that they would play Scott's older music, but I'm happy to stand corrected.
Tycho sends me to the past life where everywhere were in the peace. It derives me to the old edition toyota corolla 84 with Go one Better mark along with horse logo. It also remind me an 89 cressida started with dual cylinder diesel injector engine.
It's still probably the coolest moment with music I've had, discovering tycho was a band and not some dude with a laptop. I discovered them coming across one of their tracks on one of these Mr.suicidesheep style youtube channels and went looking for more, only to discover some of their live stuff.
Damn,....the best music I've heard in a long time, thank you ever these persons are creating this womderful music, thank for its producers , the venue owner operator s , the film crew and production sound equipment crew and the person who uploaded this to youtube and whoever else I failed to mention :-)
The most played song on my iTunes (period) is Spectre, though Hours is catching up to it rapidly. I love Tycho, and the more I listen to them I have to wonder how many current bands I would like better if they just didn't have vocals. That said, nobody writes music better than Scott Hanson (forgive me David Gilmour).
Tycho s music is alive and always gives a good lift into that cloud #9 Scott Hansen is wibe but with the rest of the group this combo brings me over the electronic wall towards tunes that are alive ..
Tycho's drummer is so on point.
***** no there is clearly a live drummer playing to a tick
StevismMusic
Lol I was gonna say.. I thought I was imagining things
Rory fucking crushes it always. So tight.

***** good shit man. appreciate this.
its what ya doo
Cheers man! Appreciate the work!
Lovely, thank you!
What I love about Tycho and it's very similar with Boards Of Canada, is conveying an emotion without the need for lyrics.
+GeoAl09 It's called nostalgia.
No it's not.. nostalgia is just one of many emotions this music can make you feel lol
Post rock instrumental.
no lyrics.
Ben Henry Read an interview of BOC where they explicitly said they wanted to generate nostalgia. Yes, you can feel lots of things, yet, that's their intention.
The same at 5:32 reminded me of The Campfire Headphase.
Tycho got me through the lowest point of my life. Hearing these songs transports me back in time and gives me a kind of peace associated with it all.
I get it man! Tycho is badass
Same happened to me
The atmosphere of their music is so detailed, that's why i'm drawn to it. It excites my imagination.
@3:00
that rare one in a billion moment when rory missed a note..and in return we got the priceless smile from scott...
This drumming makes me want to cry, its like everything happening that you ever wanted to happen... Not to mention the basslines oh oh oh my soul.
I hope somebody notices that drummer because he's a damn beast
CalippoShots interesting you say that cuz I noticed him in another post and thought the same thing
How can you tell this from this video? the music and drumline is quite straightforward. He may or may not be, but I just can't tell.
CalippoShots Yep, he's in the pocket. I was just impressed by his drumming from their performance on KEXP.
Rory is a sexy beast indeed.
Jennifer T me too babe

@@bedlegs Very well thank 💪
The music that has changed my life. Literally made me "listen" to life differently. Such a mesmerizing sound.
Beautiful music, true musicians a rarity these days... and the drummer is ON POINT!
A rarity? Mmm I wouldn't go that far.
+Enrique Godinez True... maybe just wish there was more
there are more, maybe harder to find them.
The best music I've ever heard in my life.
Do you know any similar artists?
+God Try DARKSIDE
Thanks man
+God Darkside is really good but calling them similar to Tycho is odd, I see very few commonalities between them. Similar artists to Tycho (dreamy, positive downtempo) include Boards of Canada (esp. Their beast is a drummer!
The Breakdown in "Montana" is one of my favorite parts of any song, ever!
Fucking hell that drummer is on point
Viktor I know, right? Especially when he's playing Past is Prologue. The proficiency is just off the charts!
saw them live in March, absolutely fell in love. A concert experience that everyone needs to see sometime in their lives, it was magical.
I was wondering how would a concert of these guys would be like. Sounds great it seems like it would be very chill.
+Enrique Godinez surprisingly it is a lot more energetic especially with the live instrumentation

+xxyanlixx Exactly. Give that guy some freakin' credit, world!
Rory O'Connor..he is the man
xxyanlixx cant stop watching him...insane
giving the electronic drum machine a run for its money
i was thinking the same, he is the man
I cant even describe my love for this band
Rory O'Connor is amazing on drums. So tight, so clean. is beautiful percutions!!!
I saw them in Toronto in 2020 just before the pandemic. Great show. Really want to see them live again.
tycho's entire group is so point. this show is epic
Their drummer is a beast!
39:00 insane drumming!!
Beautiful!! I'd like to see a live concert with Tycho and Bonobo combined on stage!
Funny, was just thinking exactly the same thing 😀
Penhull Wolf 👍 it should awesome!
The Beauty of their songs, so peaceful, so relaxing
I love Tycho! They create the most perfect music to draw to and get into the zone with....but I can't imagine what it would be like to see them live??? They are coming to my town in 2 months...do I bring my sketchbook to the show with me? Haha...but forreal.
Exactly what I do while listening to them. Well I do CAD and 3D modeling but still "drawing" ;)
Tycho tends to chill out their crowds even at music festivals like where I saw them. You'd probably be able to draw on the side pretty easily.
Erica Parker Its a really chill vibe, people kinda swaying and dancing, just taking in the visuals and the beats, really surreal (awk) experience
Saw them at my local music fest. They blew me away; the visuals, vibes, everything. Been loving them ever since
Got to see Tycho and band perform live during this tour time of Awake. The whole crowd just pulsed. It was so perfect.
The drummer like never misses a beat.
I love this version of Dive
This is still one of my favourite Boiler Rooms sets.
31:19 DIVE is one of my favorite tracks by them but this live version is something else, majestic!!!
the drummer is so on point
Awesome live set on Boiler Room, I am still waiting to see Tycho here in Brazil! His performances are creepy beautiful!
Just saw Tycho last night in Tampa, FL and my goodness, what a show! Such positive, happy music and the crowd was all good vibes as well
Ashley Morrison I almost went to that show!!! I love tycho. Couldn't make the drive. Glad to hear it was amazing :)

ahh I especially like the drummer he has such a good flow
Wow they have a lot of stage presence for a Boiler Room set which is usually a guy and his MacBook. They are actually playing instruments and stuff. Great musical performance, visuals and stage presence.
you're everywhere mate!
I love SF and I love Tycho. In fact, I fell in love with Tycho while in SF. I imagine all the fog rolling in...
Saw them at a small venue in St. Louis. They rocked it, and from that moment I was convinced of their talent and prospective prosperity. :)
I bet that was a magical night!
tycho is probably the most underrated music in the world, but thats okay because those who haven't heard of them don't deserve to listen to them!
Just gotta spread his music around more :) He is a great musician and artist, and I love his stuff
TheNuklearMoose Amen! I just happened upon him after listening to The Acid...LOVE IT!
Mr. Monk GUYS! ITS NOT A HIM! ITS "THEM!"...Woops sorry for turning on my caps lock :(
Mr. Monk that makes no sense. You hadn't heard him at one point.
HabsFan123 ya this guy is dumb
Rory's drumming is awesome!
Love these guys.
I cannot explain what it is about that drummer, but he's fucking amazing.
+I Suck At Stuff Check out Nitemoves, then. Same guy.
Been listening to Tycho for many years. Thank you!
Wow- awesome layered sonic landscapes- it really stirs up some warm emotions............
Yea, I can take my eyes off the drummer. I've seen them twice and I'm even more mesmerized by his skill in person!
I am in LOVE WITH THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! My new 2016 ARTIST OF THE YEAR!!!
I found myself here! What a beautiful music.
I had no idea that Tycho was a live band. I listen to Awake and Past is Prologue on the regular.
Great set!
dude.......listen to Dive......right now.... 8 minutes and 20 seconds of pure blisssssssssssss
the band is new. his earlier work was just him :)
He composes, but has tried a live band approach on his latest work/tour.
Man you gotta listen to his album called Dive, it's incredible, you wont' regret it.
Dive is one of my top 3 albums all time
So much nostalgia pouring through my ears, listening to this.
very colourful, dynamic but chilling, nice chords. great drum-work!
I was very surprised and extremely pleased to hear and see them perform Past is Prologue. I didn't think that they would play Scott's older music, but I'm happy to stand corrected.
These guys are just too damn chill... HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!
this music plays with your emotion as the frequencies they use are related with your brain directly.
excellent to treat bad moment in life.
I saw them live on a boat in Paris a few years ago, t'was a blast.
Nice performance once again, proper music.
Long live Tycho.
Such a good drummer!
The guitar playing reminds me of early Edge from U2. This band is amazing.
Flat awesome! Some of the best music I've heard in a while!
The drum is the lubricant that makes the machine work with such a flow! Bravo
sounds just as good as it was recorded..
Tycho sends me to the past life where everywhere were in the peace. It derives me to the old edition toyota corolla 84 with Go one Better mark along with horse logo. It also remind me an 89 cressida started with dual cylinder diesel injector engine.
Finally!! I was waiting for this one for a while!
39:30 onward, AMAZING drums and keyboard
It's still probably the coolest moment with music I've had, discovering tycho was a band and not some dude with a laptop. I discovered them coming across one of their tracks on one of these Mr.suicidesheep style youtube channels and went looking for more, only to discover some of their live stuff.
They never play Dictaphone's Lament, which is one of my favourites :(
Thapelo Kgaje I know right!
Thapelo Kgaje agreed, man. agreed.
+Thapelo Kgaje Maybe they will... 11 years later : )
+guernica69 best comment ever. Lol.
+James Mathis lol, thx, glad someone got it!
They sound perfect even live
dye is the most amazing track I have ever listened to

Just great tunes. Amazing ensemble!!!
6:48 I like the zap zap drumming. It feels like something is literally sweeping across a carpet
Incredible groove for Creative just about anything!

Apogee one of my favourites ✌

I actually found this on Soundcloud first, fabulous live set!
really getting into the ambient music. Tycho was a great find.
+HabsFan123 Check out Sun Glitters....especially the track "High." You'll be glad you did. :)
tiight drumming that guy is like a metronome
I can’t wait for them to release new music 🫶🏼
saw them live in hamburg, what a perfect flow.. thx guys!
I love this set! but my favorite Tycho track is coastal brake! Seriously listen it now and enjoy the ride.
this just makes me melt and float out the window forgetting everything that even matters !
can't stop listening to this
Who on Earth would dislike this masterpiece? It seems 40 people couldn't understand the magic and amazingness of this live set.
Tycho s music is alive and always gives a good lift into that cloud #9
Scott Hansen is wibe but with the rest of the group this combo brings me over the electronic wall towards tunes that are alive ..
That was with out a doubt the most beautiful version of Daydream and a perfect way to end a show.
is this heaven ?
yes. I love Scott
That drummer killing it. Highlight for sure.
AMAZING!
The visuals are from The Holy Mountain's opening sequence when they start Spectre!!! Nice
