      I love that everything you do is so intentional. Nothing is wasted. It's like an illustration of Isaiah when he writes, " For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
      and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
      making it bring forth and sprout,
      giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
      so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
      it shall not return to me empty,
      but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
      and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

      I also study my scriptures similarly. I write on post it notes and add them to the pages.

You've been there in some of my hardest moments, even though you're 4000 miles away. My love and prayers to you and your family and to all of us who watch you with joy. May you be forever blessed. Much love Rowan

    Sara, thank you. At 14:45 your voice became very soft as you described how you changed your perspective and went from "I have to" to "I get to". I'm glad you didn't stop with just one or two examples, but kept going on with more examples of your duties being a privilege instead of a chore. It's hard to explain, but it was as if God was stroking me through your voice, encouraging me to look at my many burdens as gifts from Him and opportunities to show my love for Him. Your humility helped me to humble myself and receive my tasks as a blessing from God. So - - - tomorrow I *get* to go to work and serve my students and I *get* to come home and serve my family. That changes everything. Thank you Sara.

    I love to connect with you ! You hit a chord when you talked about thanking G-d for parking spaces. My sister and I would travel and she always prayed for parking spaces. While I thought it a bit crazy G-d always seemed to answer. So, I now too pray for and thank G-d for things like parking spaces. I include Him in all areas of my life, knowing that like He cared for every part of Avraham's life He too cares for our lives. Thank you for sharing your morning routine and may G-d bless and keep you and yours.

Sara Malka, this afternoon as I watched this video, profound sadness filled me as I have lost my connection to G.od and I don't want to feel like this. 😢😢😢 It soothed me, as it always does, to hear your gentle voice sharing with us about your connection with G.od . This is just beautiful! And ‘I love to connect with you.’ I love the idea of changing from “I have to” into “I get to” it totally relieves a burden. I wasn’t raised in a religious home, but half-lived with my best friend who is Sephardic Jewish and her family, so learned a lot of the traditions (they weren’t Orthodox, they were Conservative.) I believe there is something bigger than us…when my mother died 30 years ago this month…I was just out of college, young and frightened…at some point the day she died, I was so worried (because of something bad a family member said about her beliefs) but then the clear blue sky had a rush of thin clouds going peacefully by. I have never felt such a sense of peace and relief, I knew she was safe, no longer in pain, free, she was fine…I connect to God by the beauty of nature, music and relationships. Thank you, Sara.

Lately, I'm struggling in my prayer life. Interesting, you & I have similar practices: like praying that God would open my heart & mind before reading His Word, that He would give me understanding of what He wants me to learn. LOVE your simple journal approach. I'm going to add that!! Just an FYI, they make special highlighters for bibles that are dry, not wet, so they won't bleed through the pages. Amazon I'm sure would sell them. Christian bookstores for sure sell them. Thank you for sharing your practice/routine with us. I enjoy your videos very much ❤. God bless.

    It is always a joy to connect with you through your lovely and informative videos. I thought of you when I noticed the holiday of Simchat Torah on my calendar two weeks ago. I know that it means Rejoicing of the Torah and celebrates the ending and beginning again of the cycle of Torah readings. I do something similar. I have a Bible arranged in chronological order and divided into 365 daily readings. When I finish reading my Bible from cover to cover this year, I will begin again on January 1. I used to save my Bible study and prayer for evening, when I would often find myself too tired or sleepy. Now, I try to read my Bible and pray early in the day before I get involved with other tasks. I've found it's better to give God the best "off the top" instead of only letting him have the dregs of my day.

    Your change of mindset from "I have to" to "I get to" is extremely moving and goes far further from just a religious obligation. We all should remind ourselves more often that the most of the things we take for granted and sometimes even annoying could be, indeed, something that other people cannot afford for several different reasons. It's also a good way to exercise gratitude and empathy for what one has/interacts with.

    I love to connect with you! Your talking about changing obligation to privilege struck a chord with me, as I’ve been doing something similar to help me cope with my husband’s incarceration. Instead of saying it’s _only_ been nearly four years now, I say it’s _already_ been nearly four years now. It helps me focus on how the time to go until his release is getting shorter instead of seeing it as dragging out, and his daily phone calls in the evening are something to look forward to in that regard as well.
    May you continue to stay positive and hold onto hope, Sara! We’ve missed you, but we understand the extended absence. I hope your family stays safe!

    I also cherish the life I’ve enjoyed as a mother. I have savored those moments, and it is bittersweet because my boys are becoming adults. I couldn’t count many times have I texted “I have to…”I will embrace the words “I get to” over “I have to.” Thank you. I love to connect with you

    This is it entirely! We get to follow Torah. I take time right before I go to sleep, I count my blessings, the good and the not so good. Because, tomorrow is never promised. I've been planning for Hanukkah, but I've never put my whole heart into it, because I'm a single person. I started planning and got excited. Not emotionally but physically. That when I knew, I'm never really alone. And it the right thing to do. Thanks for sharing.
