I think she don't want to do that after what happen to the two Princess sister, and their's a video not to long ago made by Agrol about Rainbow dash and Rarity swapping body by Starlight.
I had thought of that but then I realized that if they had switched cutie marks then there wouldn't be much for them to learn. Rarity and Rainbow Dash wouldn't really learn anything as this is about their interest. If they switched the interest would still be the same, only in different cutie marks. But I do wonder if that would have been another way to run the episode and if it would change the story. Anyone have a thought on that?
6:00-6:40 Yes, thank you. I think too few people realize that. Everyone looking for a relation always assume that you have to have everything in common and more often than not those are the people who get disappointed and end up splitting up. As someone who grew up in a family with aunts and uncles and grandparents that seemed so different to me and yet they are celebrating 30 and 50 year anniversaries, this is a lesson that really makes sense and really sits well with me and gives me a lot to think about with friends and, maybe someday that very special lady of my own.
To me, it doesn't matter how many differences there are between two individuals. Those differences can compliment each other in very surprising ways, but you must always remember that you should always treat your friend's interests with the respect that you would want someone to treat your interests. This is something that I'm glad the writers are teaching.
That episode trudged up an old issue and made it eclipse both Rainbow and Applejack's personalities. This conflict was actually believable because there is precedent for it if you stop to think about their shared episodes together before now. Their personailites do clash with each other but because Rainbow saved Rairty in Sonic Rainboom, and Rarity cleared Rainbow's name they simply left those issues alone and buried. Until this episode where they finally decide to hang out with each other and those issues come bubbling back up.
I thought it was a very good episode. My only main disappointment was the fact that both ponies enjoy the spa (if for slightly different reasons) and even though Spa Day was a Rarity + AJ kind of thing, RD likes it enough too it could have worked. Also, I figured the purple magic duo had most of the treasure hunt plan in the works, and Starlight just had to tell Twilight, yea we still it, Execute Plan Now.
Dr. Wolf , Rarity's line "These boots are NOT made for trotting." was a reference to Helen Reddy's song 'These Boots are Made for Walking'. Also, how in hay dis they not notice the school's insignia on the door? Another interesting question is : We've seen Rarity teleport her "fainting couch" on numerous occasions; can't she teleport herself? One other thing, has their target audience even heard the word "stiletto"?
I never really thought about it until this episode but Rarity doesn't really have anything in common with anyone other than Fluttershy (and Twilight because she's interested in learning about everything just for learning's sake). Twilight's really the core of the group, she and their shared experiences are what holds them together. Lets look at the common ground and connections they share without Twilight to bring them together: Rainbow and Applejack have their shared athleticism (though that causes as much friction as it does bonding). Rainbow and Pinkie have pranking. Rainbow and Fluttershy have the childhood bond thing. Rarity and Fluttershy have sewing stuff and the spa (Applejack and Rainbow like the spa too, but not really to the extent that Rarity and Fluttershy do). It actually surprised me when I thought it through that the one with the most connections other than Twilight is actually Rainbow. Applejack doesn't really relate to anyone else at all other than Rainbow and Twilight. Pinkie may make the effort to be everyone's friend, but it's pretty superficial, mostly via parties, other than Rainbow and to a lesser extent Twilight (of all of Twilight's relationships to the others I feel the one between her and Pinkie is the weakest). And again Rarity only really has a connection with Fluttershy.
6:04 - 6:29 Awww, you two are so sweet! :) It's great to see a couple who genuinely puts so much effort into their relationships. You guys are awesome!
I’ve been waiting for a Rarity/Dash friendship dynamic episode since season 2. Whenever I see this episode I always felt the urge to compare it to Rarity/AJ. Seeing how AJ and rarity seems to get along well, they had spa days, but other than that, I couldnt remember them having anything in common either other than that, im really curious how they worked. For this, I don’t think the problem is not having anything in common, RD/Rarity just didn’t even try and give each other’s interest a chance. Both of them are friends, but they are definitely not best friends. Now i’m just waiting for my Pinkie/Fluttershy episode, another pair up who’s also opposites from each other
I like how they're using Starlight in this season, I always loved her but in season 6 she wasn't there in episodes that wasn't about her and now she finally feels natural
Only in the "Road to Friendship". She still feels forced and static in most episodes even in S7 and S8. Writers don't want her to interact or express herself in Mane6 episodes because they written themselves into a corner by makin her and Twilight character act too similar.
She did need to find her own place and have development before she could be always there. I always assumed they were just taking time with her so she would not be in every episode all of the sudden but still used all main ideas they had for her.
Brian Corona Not counting interactions in "Every Little Thing She Does" and "No Second Prances": 1) Tiny moments with Fluttershy where she's sitting beside her on the train in "The Crystalling" and when she's comforting her off to the side after the firework goes off in "Horse Play." 2) Pinkie Pie in "Rock Solid Friendship" and "The Maud Couple." 3) It's slightly implied that she had off-screen interaction with Rainbow since in "A Matter of Principals" she knew and could call upon Spitfire. 4) Rarity in this episode. 5) I don't think she's interacted with Applejack for the most part unfortunately(Kinda wish they had an episode together; they'd be an interesting pairing). 6) Spike in "The Crystalling," "Every Little Thing She Does," and "A Matter of Principals."
I thought the episode was okay. Not really much to say, but even if two individuals don't have anything in common, they can still be friends. I did love the callbacks to previous episodes. The high heel focus was a twist. And... my favorite line 'Your drama can wait'. that has got to be said from anyone who can't take any more of listening to anyones conflict. lol
The thing about this episode is that when I first heard the premise I was just as worried as other people were, but then it actually got me thinking about the times they've shared an episode together and realized how much it made sense. You just gotta think for a moment, in Sonic Rainboom their shared screentime amounted to Rarity showing up Rainbow Dash and causing the problem that needed her life to be saved. While in Rarity Investigates Rainbow Dash was'nt on the same page as Rarity at all throughout the investigation and second guessed her constantly. Once I started realizing that and the fact that they hardly interactes one on one as it is it made much more sense why this needed to be addressed and fixed.
Once we saw Spike's footprint, it was clear that the episode was an actual setup. If you couldn't figure it out by that point, you haven't been watching MLP this entire time, nor enough episodes.
RedDragonForce2 I personally think they should’ve just cut that little detail out cause it didn’t really serve the plot and just made things more predictable
This episode kind of only exist because established charcters had to be manipulated in order to fit the plot. At this point in the show the idea the main six having "friendship problems" amongst themselves doesn't really work after all they've been through especially when having an episode like "Fame and Misfortune" where they're literally singing about how they've moved beyond this very problem Twilights even sings "Our flaws helped to make us special. They bond us and keeps is strong, our flaws are what brought us together." In response to some one asking why and how can they even be friends. That being said I didn't entirely dislike it their were definitely humorous parts to the episode and visually it was nice.
When I saw the scene where Rarity discovers the footprints in the forest I was kind of hoping that they would focus on that more so that way they can find out that this was all a trick by Twilight and Starlight, because I just don't like it when characters fall for a trick like that because it just makes them seem more stupid that they would actually fall for it and I kind of think it would have been more funny if they were too later on figure out that it was all a trick and then act out as if they were still not friends in order to fool everyone. They would still get the lesson but you know it would show everyone in the audience that they're not idiots
To be honest, I'm a fan of Raridash but sad there a few ppl who like them together. I think a ship doesn't need similarities all the time, like we know Opposites attract. Anyway, RD and Rarity are my favorite ponies💙💜
7:08 I have to make a comment here. When I was going to college as a game designer (which ended up falling through, tho lots of lessons were learned), one of the things we learned was that upper fashion design usually happens almost two years ahead of the curve. The fact that Rarity states "If something is already in fashion, it's practically already out" means that she as a designer has almost no way to take advantage of that situation in any way, and needs to come up with something new. IDK how far ahead the fashion industry looks ahead in Equestria, but I can assume Rarity as a designer would know to design and CREATE the new 'in fashion' and stay ahead of what is currently popular. Just had to say this, as the line made a lot of sense to me as an artist and designer myself, also knowing just how far ahead the IRL fashion industry looks.
Actually it does make sense that something currently in fashion is almost out of fashion, because with how often that cycles through, quite often once you get something that's in fashion, it will only be in fashion for a little while longer. By staying ahead of the curve, you hit that spot first, and are able to soak it up a lot longer.
It was a cute episode. I thought Starlight in the office was going to switch their cutie marks like she did Celstia and Luna when saying they needed to walk in the other's shoes. I was surprised and pleased to see she didn't do that since I remember how badly Rarity did with the weather back in S3 finale. I also have no idea what that multi-eyed toad frog thing is. Just glad it wasn't a giant spider ~shivers~ although its eyes kinda reminded me how someone might draw it on large creatures to depict the feeling of a spider. Also did not know clouds could work like toothpaste. That was interesting.
Somehow, that giant toad reminded me of that toad in Pan's Labyrinth. But it also could have been something from the Harry Potter Books - either way, it feels familiar.
Not familiar with Pans Labyrinth. There was a creature possibly similar to that from Harry Potter? I'm curious now. Do you have any inkling which book/movie it might have been from? If not, no big deal.
I've probably mistaken - there's nothing like this in the HP wikia. It just feels like something I've seen before. According to MLP wikia, it's called a Bufogren, which is a portmanteau of bufo and grenouille, both of them foreign words for toad or frog.
Did anyone notice the bulk up mare on the buck ball team is that Bulk biceps( snowflake) momma? That and i laughed alot that the glitter from raritys shoes kept sprinkling around GLITTER IT GETS EVERYWHERE
I somehow think this should be one of the best mlp moral episodes because compared to this most other TV shows I have seen, usually show that people who are opposites (maybe not so much in gender but) in most of everything tend to not get along (as in they tent to show a lot of dislike or even anger at each other just for being who they are). Especially opposites in wealth, interests, range in IQs, habits and personalities.
You know, I don't think I have this problem with any of my friends. I mean, yeah there is stuff that others like that I don't but we still have a lot more in common than not
The story would have not changed had the Temnospondyl looking thing not been in the episode, plus there would have been roughly 2 extra minutes for the progression to be more on the trip to the secret passage.
The trail they were going to when first heading through the swamp was dangerous to fly through, when Rainbow Dash carried up to a mountain not over the swamp.
I have seen friendship ruined in an hour and even if there is quite a history too. It's rare but a beautiful friendship can be over just as quick as a snap of fingers is.
I don't like this episode. It's pretty much a repeat of the conflict between Rarity and AJ that has been used and solved very well seasons ago, and it forced a lot of thing down the throat to make it work. Rarity and RD have never had these conflicts in the show before. Rarity has always been understanding and supportive of RD's passion for sport (Double Rainboom, Rarity investigates, etc.). On the other hand, RD has always been cool with Rarity's fashionism. She enjoyed dresses and spa and never had any issue with Rarity's choice of attire like AJ. Forcing these conflicts on them really feels out of place, not to mention it has been way too late to pull this already. This episode should have belonged to season 2 or 3, not season 8 for Celestia's sake. How long have they been together for them to not know better than planning a fun day with each other around sport and shopping? If anything, a fun day together between these two would have been a straight heading to the spa, or chillaxing beside the lake.
This episode reminds me of 2 things: 1. It seems to remind me of One of their episodes in season eight where Rainbow Dash and applejack were fighting over employee of the month, only with a few twists. But I’m glad that they made it slightly different. 2. Reminds me of the time that one of my friends actually message me “ are we still friends?” I was really surprised that he asked me that obviously I told him that we are still friends. It’s just with me working two jobs for 6 out of 7 days a week I get very little time. I I can understand why he would ask me it’s because we have exactly talked for at least 2 to 4 weeks. But it was rather fortunate that I invited him and a couple my friends for a little video game day. We ended up playing Fortnite for at least two hours(I never liked the game when my friends invited me I was like th-cam.com/video/cG1K6oZjdBc/w-d-xo.html because my friends asked me to join them) Still we had fun.
Definitely not one of my favorite episodes, but I still appreciate the lesson, and some of the clever/funny moments. And I agree that it reminds me a lot of Uncommon Bond. That was one out of the only 2 episodes that ever made me cry because of how close to home it hit. (The other being The Perfect Pair, for obvious reasons)
This was an interesting episode regarding Rarity and Rainbow Dash, Dr. Wolf. Honestly, I liked it for the introduction of the Bufogren, and the little plan that Twilight, Starlight, and Spike put together to get Rarity and Rainbow to work together and repair their friendship.
I feel like the Mane 6 other than Twilight all knew each other before she came to town, and some pairs of them were friends, but it took Twilight to make all of them gel together.
@@gracegavilan5871 ikr, Celestia's memory shows the Mane 5 together back then, but that's more for exposition. Rarity was friends with Applejack and possibly Fluttershy. Fluttershy was childhood friends with Dash. Pinkie was friends with everyone, of course, but that's Pinkie. Don't question it.
I watched this episode and when they questioned how they are friends I smacked my head so hard. Considering my friend and I are like rarity and rainbow dash, They are missing how the friendship would interact. My friend questions our friendship from time to time and I told her "Ya know there is another factor. Personality. And we like each other's personality and compromise." I mean seriously. My friend and I have done stuff like rarity and rainbow did together, but the dynamic is way off. With my friendship we acknowledge the other thing is not the person's thing and will ask them what they think before we do with the compromise that we will make jokes about it. We live on jokes. Hell, the whole book thing was done poorly too. Example? Recently my friend wanted to read a series that I have expressed dislike for. So I bought the series for our kindles much to everyone's confusion and we are currently reading them. Why? So we can discuss the story and the ideas. So we can laugh at the parts we don't like and enjoy the parts we do like. Also, seeing a friend happy is a great thing to see. The whole blow out Rarity and Rainbow had was insane, like they didn't discuss anything. Overall the story of this episode kinda made me cringe. Then again that might be me just placing too much into the characters or just the question that is asked of why they are friends I have a great answer for. But Either way this episode is in my do not watch again pile.
I never even thought about how Rainbow Dash and Rarity had so little in common. Besides the obvious, cliche stuff like having the same friends, being Elements of Harmony, being good ponies, etc, so by itself made this episode a little more interesting to me then it could've been if i already picked that up. It's probably because I already know that as a group, the Mane 6 are very different ponies, so it's just something I never really thought about.
Well, Doc, to be fair, the reason Rainbow didn't fly Rarity across the bog was explained by herself in the episode. She did attempt to fly across but figured it was too dangerous to navigate by air and explained to Rarity that if one of those geysers were to burn her feathers, she'd be grounded and out of the Wonderbolts for weeks. It was then that Rarity thought of making a raft. All in all, not really convoluted, I'd say. Unless we consider the question of why Rainbow could not safety navigate around the geysers by air but it didn't seem to be much of an issue of doing it by water. That bit did not seem very clear, to me. Or maybe I was simply not paying enough attention. Might need to re-watch the episode again, soon. By the way... Can we all just agree on how adorable Rarity was when she reacted to Rainbow suggesting they'd go shopping? :3
I figured it was most likely him with the amulet when I noticed most of the glitter is in the air, means that whoever carried it was flying (and not very well by that trail). Then rarity found the footprints and it confirmed it.
how about an apisode about being "friends" in a larger group and finding out you were only "friends" with that one person in tzhe group because, well they are part of the group. You do enough together, you do talk but once alone... well you actually don't really know what to do with each other...
In a lot of ways, that was episode, because of how Rainbow Dash and Rarity struggling to find something they both liked doing. But it was just more subtle.
@DrWolf001 I agree with a majority of your review, but I think I would watch it again, despite it being somewhat hasty. I also agree that this is a lesson that both young kids and adults can learn from. Overall, I would rate this episode a B+. Thank you for your review, and I look forward to listening to another review from you.
I'm glad they're finally exploring some of the more obscure pairings. Rarity and Rainbow Dash are one of those pairs that seem to only hang out together because they have mutual friends. Another one is Fluttershy and Applejack or Pinkie Pie and Starlight.
Galimeer5 fluttershy and applejack works. Fluttershy is sweet shy and loves animsls. Applejack is a sweet, friendly country girl with a bit of a competitive side. Applejack all so likes and cares for farm animals. They have plenty in common they just aren't paired off with just each other often.
I kind of thought that Spike really did want the amulet for himself as well as the students, Twilight and Starlight. I thought they were villains. I was wrong though. Rarity and Rainbow did need this kind of bond.
I have a funny memory of that episode. In that scene where Rainbow Dash and Rarity was in Starlight's office. I thought it was actually… Dr. Wolf's office at the beginning. It would be funny if this scene was in your office, doc! XD
I now want to see an episode of Applejack & Fluttershy together. And btw I wish Rarity would have said this while looking at the dragon footprint "Wait.....these footprints or clawprints looks like it could belong to a dragon...maybe spike or Smoulder or a changeling changing to a dragon....& if one of them flew up & lead a trail in the sky, then we must fellow them & ...wait..a minute...I should have know when Starlight & Twilight were acting strange....Rainbow listen..... Rainbow: Yes, what were you doing over there & what did you find? Rarity: Listen Rainbow, Twilight & Starlight set this up so you can me & work together? Rainbow Dash: How do you know?! Rarity: Look at the clawprint, do you think it can belong to Spike, Smoulder or a changeling as a dragon & flew up to the sky so they will lead us somewhere so we can fellow it together. Rainbow: Why would they want to do....Uhh...I get it.....I'm sorry Rarity for the way I was being back there, sorry I was being a real jerk to you & ruining your day together with me... Rarity: & I'm sorry for not going to places that you don't want to go & not do what you like to do....maybe when we solve this problem together, we can do things together that will make us happy & I can buy you something & make you something special that will make also make your team shine as well too:3 Rainbow: Sounds good to me Rarity, thank you, let's solve this case together. Rarity: agree (Then Rainbow carries Rarity & flys up)
The scene when Rainbow Dash and Rarity were both talking to Starlight about what they couldn't stand about each other. I thought when Starlight yelled enough she was about to switch their cutie marks. Cuz if you go back and listen to it it's the same enough that she used when she switched Luna and Celestia
This episode had a good focus on how a genuinly great relationship can turn into a bad one (not just why people with different interests could be friends). You see, there would have been no problem in the first place if not for Twilight who forced RD and Rarity to participate in each others activities thinking it would show the students how their relationship works. The opposite happened because a good friend wouldn't try to blatantly 'convert' their pal into their own interest just to feel like friends. But that is exactly what Twilight did to both Rarity and Rainbow Dash (she tried to make each one of them do the activity of the other even though they didn't enjoy it). Imagine if i forcefully brought my best non-brony friend to a pony convention and started talking to him like I would talk to a brony. This act would certainly not be appreciated by him and he would probably get very angry at me at some point (I have seen it happen). We know we have opposing interests but we are still best friends as long as no one drags each other into things the other person doesn't like. So, for me the most interesting part of this episode was how Twilight accidently ruined the relationship in the first place, not the way they fixed it (because that is what we have actually seen before in other episodes). Such warning on why to avoid this specific situation I don't recall in any other episode and that's why I thought it was unique. P.S. It is also important to acknowledge that 'the better the relationship, the worse the breakup' because it brings a lot more pain and anger when a much closer friend doesn't agree with you (also had life experience with that). We are inclined to show greater emotion of any kind to friends rather than to strangers (because we don't hide ourselves to friends). That is why the conflict between the two erupted so quickly after the initial push. P.S.S. Even though they didn't spell it out in the end of the episode, everything I said is pretty apparent if you pay attention.
Twilight still has a lot to learn ... In order to be a friend, you do not have to share interests, all you really need is to care about one another. Sharing interests help, but it isn't a requirement. It's like the Koan of the "One hand clapping". (Hint: it makes no sound.) ^_^
Yep. But to be fair, Twilight was in kind of a tough spot, since she couldn't just say that Rainbow Dash and Rarity are friends "just because" or something, and expect the students to get it just because she says so.
Cam Miller She is the princess of bloody friendship! I would think at this point in her life, she should that forcing her friends to do things THEY don't want to do is a bad idea. Her growth keeps getting thrown out the window for the sake of these predictable plot.
Cam Miller It is tough when put on the spot to remember the points of the lessons, yes, and explaining it should not be a "take my word for it" because that helps noone. Really, the Wild goose chase was actually a good idea in that situation, for the students to see it in Action. Tao Jones T.jones Twilight is a work in progress ... and so is Friendship. ^_^
I know others have said the episode was predictable in the comments, and I agree. To a point. The destination was predictable (not just Rarity and Rainbow Dash making up, though that is the big one.) But the journey did surprise me a time or two. For example, I thought their mutual love for reading might be the thing that brought them back together. And while it was, it also served to further divide them for a time. And I have to say, Starlight is quite adept at being a guidance counselor and helping solve problems. Definitely shows the progress she has made as a character.
I liked the episode overall. True, there was quite a bit of arguing, but even then I found it quite entertaining, as it was among two of the most dramatic of the Mane 6. I also apreciate the inclusion of Starlight (Who has been owning this season, in my opinion) Twilight and the Student 6. On a side note, that line about Rainbow learning something from one of Scootaloo's side activities made me go "awwwww" so HARD. I love their relationship.
I actually always thought Rainbow Dash and Rarity have many things in common. They have dreams they made come true (becoming a Wonderbolt and be a fashion industry star), they enjoy having fame in what they like to do, they like beeing in the spot light, they can get a little selfish or egocentric from time to time, they care how they look like (well cool and beautiful might be different ways of looking good but still). I mean really, Dash has a lot more things in common with her than, let's say Twilight who only happens to be a Daring Do fan like she is or Fluttershy who is pretty much Rainbow's personality opposite. But I think the difference is that Fluttershy has never complained about Rainbow Dash's passions and she rather gaved them a try even if they weren't her cup of tea - episodes like "Hurricane Fluttershy", "Rainbow Falls", "Trade Ya" and "Buckball Season" are a good example for that.
Sharing personality traits, yep Rarity and Rainbow do several times things in common. But that didn't help them much here, since they hardly had the same interests, which was what this episode was about
I could never buy that the mane six could actually break up their friendships. If they ask that question, "why are we friends?", it's easy to remind them that the fate of Equestria counts on their friendship existing. If the whole universe recognizes their friendships, then they should as well. The CMC to a lesser extent can't really break either. If the destinies of three ponies count on the existence of their shared friendships, I don't buy them separating either.
@@silverletter4551 Then allow me to point some things out, and keep in mind I was also very worried about this episode even when I heard the summary. At first glance I thought it was obvious that Rarity and Rainbow should be really close by now, BUT in order to actually claim a charachter is out of charachter you need to be able to look back at ALL of the facts regarding them not cherry pick them. Once I started thinking about it, I realized that they actually did tend to clash with each other because of how different they were. But those times they clashed also had them doing something very selfless for the other so they dropped their issues with each other and did'nt actually address it. This is something people do more often than you think, choosing to ignore your issues with someone and hoping you don't have to actually express it to someone else. But doing that makes those feelings build up inside until finally they just explode. Rarity and Rainbow finally trying to spend a day together just the two of them made those feelings start surfacing again and it just grew worse as they failed to connect in their activites. I do think it would've been a good idea to have them mention Rarity trying to show up Rainbow in Sonic rainboom and Rainbow constantly doubting Rarity in Rarity Investigates during that scene in Starlight's office. But my point still stands that it's clear this was the result of pent up feelings that they kept trying to push down. Which is why it is very beleivable and in charachter for both.
Something I noticed... There's a part where a bunch of gems get tossed into the air and, upon landing, shatter into a thousand pieces. Last I checked, the only "gems" that do that are the cheap glass replicas, so what's going on here?
For the longest time, and even now to a certain extent, I never actually believed that any of the main 6 were friends with each other except for Twilight. All of them were brought together in the series premiere specifically because they each formed a bond with Twilight, not each other. There are quite a few pairing amongst them that I don’t really see as actual friendships. Pinkie and Fluttershy Rarity and Applejack Rarity and Rainbow Dash Rarity and Pinkie
this episode clearly shows that Rainbow and Rarity can only be "friends" when they need eachothers help. The moment that there is no more problem to solve or goal to achieve they fall apart.
It was very funny and entertaining episode the very least. I would say that in early seasons there would have been an actual crime and danger which would have been more convinient but I think the would have been more tension. I think a mid point would have been nice if Spike had hidden the amulet but some actual monster stole it form there so Rarity and Rainbow would have been more impressive finding it. But now the characters are more responsible and did just not leave the amulet anywhere but brought it back to school after the trail.
This episode was a love letter to RariDash shippers. Good for them though not so much for people like me who aren't into this shipping ballocks, thank god this show never officially romanticizes these kind of things. Don't get me wrong I like it when two of my favourite characters are paired up and they work together to advance the plot, ie Rick and Daryl from The Walkimg Dead or Rainbow Dash and Spike in the season seven final, though I would absolutely hate it if it's in a romantic kind of way.
Sooooooo we're just gonna ignore the fact that the Amulet of Aurora actually works and that Twilight said it can reverse tides and SUMMON FREAKING TSUNAMIS??
sIt's probably something fake she put together just for this and that glitter left behind from it is more than likely a spell. Because this thing was never mentioned before and then is just being held out in the open so anyone can get it and at the school no less? If it was real and important it should have been in Celestia's castle. I call fake news for that one.
I think you missed something. Rainbow Dash said she could not fly over the swamp because of the stream coming out being hot enough to burn her wings. When she flies Rarity up they are clear of the swamp.
The episode was okay, I just think that student six overstayed their welcome. They really should have keep them for the first five minutes not focus an entire episode for them
Your camera kept shifting focus during your review. You might want to look into fixing that issue because it was distracting while watching the review.
Starlight Glimmer: You need to put yourselves in one another’s shoes.
Did anyone else think she’d be switching their cutie marks?
I think she don't want to do that after what happen to the two Princess sister, and their's a video not to long ago made by Agrol about Rainbow dash and Rarity swapping body by Starlight.
After "a royal problem"? I don't think so.... plus, remember "magical mystery cure"? Rarity had rainbow's cutie mark and that caused disaster.
Anyone have a thought on that?
beedolphin1 Yeah, that’s why I’m glad she didn’t. But I seriously thought she would.
Yes
This episode is basically a much more tolerable version of "Non Compete Clause."
Nope, the moral is very different.
RubberyCat Fair enough.
One other thing, has their target audience even heard the word "stiletto"?
maybe she only has the ability to teleport the couch?
Actually, it's a reference to Nancy Sinatra and her most famous song.
Please, don't talk or write anything unless you actually know something.
I can't remember her teleporting her fainting couch like Twilight or Starlight would, but rather pulling it in telepathically into few or not?
These Boots were made for Walking, is by Nancy Sinatra, Frank Sinatra's daughter.
It might also be a reference to the expression "These boots are made for walking". AFAIK the expression existed before the song.
This is a better version of Non Compete Clause, only with Rares and Dashie. YES I USE THOSE NAMES. >_>
I never really thought about it until this episode but Rarity doesn't really have anything in common with anyone other than Fluttershy (and Twilight because she's interested in learning about everything just for learning's sake). Twilight's really the core of the group, she and their shared experiences are what holds them together.
Lets look at the common ground and connections they share without Twilight to bring them together:
Rainbow and Applejack have their shared athleticism (though that causes as much friction as it does bonding).
A decent, if slightly predictable episode.
Episodes 19 and 20 are among the best ones of this season, maybe even the best in the show so far.
Justin Riley I feel it had to many continuity errors within the episode itself for it to be good.
Meh, 18 was horrid and 19 was click bait for me.
Jade Muse I'm not referring to Yakkity Sax, that WAS horrid. I meant On The Road To Friendship and The Washouts.
@Double OO Maybe not horrid, but definitely the weakest episode of Seaon 8 thus far.
*NOOO!* I'VE HAD THIS DISCUSSION BEFORE and now I know that there is no point :/
MrConredsX just curious, has Starlight ever truly interacted with any of the main 6 other than Twilight?
Brian Corona Not counting interactions in "Every Little Thing She Does" and "No Second Prances":
1) Tiny moments with Fluttershy where she's sitting beside her on the train in "The Crystalling" and when she's comforting her off to the side after the firework goes off in "Horse Play."
2) Pinkie Pie in "Rock Solid Friendship" and "The Maud Couple."
3) It's slightly implied that she had off-screen interaction with Rainbow since in "A Matter of Principals" she knew and could call upon Spitfire.
Fashions change quickly. Trendsetters have the advantage in fashion.
That's because true trendsetters set the trends, they do not follow them.
Brian Corona it’s for the kids. Remember, little girls show. It’s the weakest part of creating any episode of this show.
RedDragonForce2 oh definitely. Although I wonder if some little girls would still figure it out since these clues are out in the open
Sadly I was one of those people that didn't discover My little pony till just now. Literally
Gold Yoshi 😢
My favorite line was when Twilight tried to pass off their fighting as "banter" -- complete with the air quotes.
i saw that and thought.." Reaally Twilight" XD AIR QUOTES XD
To be completely fair, Starlight being gone for fifteen seconds and already have set something up could happen because of the speed spell Accelero
Yet another EXCELLENT episode review from you DRWolf.
Looking forward to your next review
When I saw the scene where Rarity discovers the footprints in the forest I was kind of hoping that they would focus on that more so that way they can find out that this was all a trick by Twilight and Starlight, because I just don't like it when characters fall for a trick like that because it just makes them seem more stupid that they would actually fall for it and I kind of think it would have been more funny if they were too later on figure out that it was all a trick and then act out as if they were still not friends in order to fool everyone. They would still get the lesson but you know it would show everyone in the audience that they're not idiots
If Rarity and Rainbowdash secretly winked at each other to teach a lesson to Twilight's students would it have been convincing?
I've an old saying that says: "A lonely heart is better than a broken heart".
Rainbow dash is my favorite pony :)
Is so sweet you call your wife your lady. Such a wonderful example.
Some horseshoes do have protrusions on the heel and toe part of the shoe called caulkins or calks used to add ground traction.
Or maybe the plan was made earlier, and Starlight simply teleported herself to the castle, giving the Missing Artifact plan a go?
You know I really love the episode of very unexpected surprise but I'll take it!. !
Oh that's pretty cool and I just learned something new about language.
It shows that Starlight has learned not to depend on magic. Unlike the Mane 6, she is actually learning and having the lessons stick.
I'd LOVED The line from Starlight Your Drama Can Wait
Good thing for all ponies and humans that friendship and love are so much more than just common interests!
Did anyone notice the bulk up mare on the buck ball team is that Bulk biceps( snowflake) momma?
That and i laughed alot that the glitter from raritys shoes kept sprinkling around GLITTER IT GETS EVERYWHERE
The "Bulk Mare" was first seen in "Buckball Season" i think, in the Appleoosa Team.
RubberyCat i do remember that XD
I find it a _little_ weird how an episode like that was put so far into the series? Y’feel me :D
I feel like this story and lesson would of worked better in the earlier seasons
I kinda like that Starlight is filling Dr Wolfe'S role.
This episode reminds me of 2 things:
John Evans
Your actually right, Watch the episode celestial advise, When Celestia was explaining to Twilight on why she was sent to Ponyville.
I really like Starlight's role as the guidance counselor more and more as this season is progressing! ^^
Does anyone really know how to play buckball? I'm mean only half a dozen ponies seem to playing it!
I like this episode. They may not be great best friends but they sure are excellent team work like friends.
Rainbow Dash x Rarity, I ship it
Applejack, where you at
Well, Doc, to be fair, the reason Rainbow didn't fly Rarity across the bog was explained by herself in the episode.
7:09 Actually it does. Rarity was saying something currently in fashion would soon become passé. As in played out. You know?
Who makes high heels for a house? The same guy who makes clothes in general for them
6:09 awww, that's really sweet. :)
My favorite part in that episode was the surprise that spike stole the amulet of aurora
Fletcher Gilmore that was very predictable though. As soon as twilight told them, my first thought was where is spike?
Well, he didn't _actually_ stole it, though. He was part of the plan all along and was told to take it around and back to the school.
See ya in two weeks, Doc!
I think Rainbow avoided flying over the forest because the trail was still under the trees which would probably make it hard to follow
Galimeer5 how about Starlight and literally any of the mane 6 other than Twilight.
Or how about Twilight and Rarity. The first episode where they ever teamed up happened this season.
Rarity: & I'm sorry for not going to places that you don't want to go & not do what you like to do....maybe when we solve this problem together, we can do things together that will make us happy & I can buy you something & make you something special that will make also make your team shine as well too:3
Rainbow: Sounds good to me Rarity, thank you, let's solve this case together.
Rarity: agree
(Then Rainbow carries Rarity & flys up)
The scene when Rainbow Dash and Rarity were both talking to Starlight about what they couldn't stand about each other.
That is actually a very interesting point!
Cam Miller
It is tough when put on the spot to remember the points of the lessons, yes, and explaining it should not be a "take my word for it" because that helps noone.
Really, the Wild goose chase was actually a good idea in that situation, for the students to see it in Action.
Tao Jones T.jones
Twilight is a work in progress ... and so is Friendship.
One thing I enjoyed about this episode was when both Rarity and Rainbow Dash criticizes each other favorite books.
And she's about to steal the show soon.
You have a good point.
Sharing personality traits, yep Rarity and Rainbow do several times things in common.
But that didn't help them much here, since they hardly had the same interests, which was what this episode was about
I thought they had the spa, pampering & self-care in common and was a bit peeved they didn't have a spa-day together?
Um...Dr.Wolf....good sir, is that a boomerang logo in the thumbnail? XD
Another awesome review DRWolf,Rarity and Rainbow Dash's friendship was really put to the test in this episode.
when is the newest TF2 episode
Friends argue it happens.
I was relieved to watch a decent late season 8 episode. Yackity-Sax left a bad taste in my mouth (metaphorically).
Well then you need to rethink their episodes together caused this is actually really believable.
@@Cloud-dt6xb Even after two years, it sounds a bit farfetched.
Do you think we'll have an episode where Rarity meets the real Shadow Spade, similarly to how Daring Do is real?
Something I noticed... There's a part where a bunch of gems get tossed into the air and, upon landing, shatter into a thousand pieces. Last I checked, the only "gems" that do that are the cheap glass replicas, so what's going on here?
For the longest time, and even now to a certain extent, I never actually believed that any of the main 6 were friends with each other except for Twilight. All of them were brought together in the series premiere specifically because they each formed a bond with Twilight, not each other. There are quite a few pairing amongst them that I don’t really see as actual friendships.
Pinkie and Fluttershy
Rarity and Applejack
Rarity and Rainbow Dash
Rarity and Pinkie
Check the episode Celestial Advice , specifically the part where Celestia was explaining to Twilight why she was sent to Ponyville.
Really cute. Almost makes me ship them
this episode clearly shows that Rainbow and Rarity can only be "friends" when they need eachothers help. The moment that there is no more problem to solve or goal to achieve they fall apart.
They get along better than either of them do with Applejack.
is that a praise of these two or a complain about applejack? But i think its not really true, ad least rainbow and applejack both enjoy sports
And I agree the bad breath monster made the episode more interesting since you didn’t know where it was going and it was creative.
To me this episode is uncommon bond meets non compete clause
ToeIn2194 honestly it's a dumb explanation. They should of had rainbow hurt her wing. Which makes more sense.
Hey doc it me nathanael
So How Are You
Spike is cool!
The episode was okay, I just think that student six overstayed their welcome. They really should have keep them for the first five minutes not focus an entire episode for them
Anypony besides me thinking Rarity does some spy work on the side because of this episode?
it was a good ep.
The Epiosde was great, and I liked the part when Rarity and Rainbow dash told their whole life story to starlight instead of explaining their problem
"Rarity had a *point* "
