This is probably the only time I’ve been okay with Mud Briar. I’m not big on the “Sheldon” character-type popularized by The Big Bang Theory. I find the concept is _very_ annoying outside of a handful of comedic situations. Technically Correct _is_ the best kind of correct, but when you let the idea consume your life? So I took more than a little joy at Mud getting the stare-down from both Starlight’s friends and a cockatrice. Especially Trixie. Her face in that one scene was an encapsulation of my feelings about him.
I'm glad the episode didn't do what I thought would happen. When I heard the synopsis I thought Starlight would get a new promotion as a counselor that she believed she was more then qualified for, only for it to be very difficult and a typical lesson about not overworking yourself and status quo, she goes back to her old job.
There was even a minor call back to Boast Busters when Trixie was mentioning her experience in regards to telling other ponies that she has experience with mythical creature encounters. I was just thinking that whole time about her claim early on in the show of defeating an Ursa Major, even if it was revealed later on that she couldn't even take down an Ursa Minor.
I like this season. There’s a lot of eps that are focused on minor characters. This one focused on Starlight’s friends and spoilers there is gonna be two more focused just on the princesses and the CMC.
I thought it was funny, too. This was a good episode and Maud and Mud really stole the episode here. Not much to say other than nice to see some characters return and nice to see the cockatrice come back. I give it a 7/10
i liked this episode. wouldn't call it my favorite (that would be frenemies and the season opener) but still enjoyable. my least favorite scene was when trixie was guiding everyone through the forest. it didn't go anywhere and wan't helpful at all. that intire scene was just there to pad out the episode unnecessarily. my favorite part was almost every line maud had that was just perfection at it's finest, the best lines where when mud briar was turned into stone, especially because i still find mud to be a pretty annoying character with his constent "well technically" but at least i wasn't the only one to be annoyed by him since the characters where also annoyed by him XDD
The one thing that put Trixie slightly more in the wrong for me, personally, was when Terramar was panicking about Silverstream being missing and Trixie looked like she couldn't care less. I understand that Trixie wouldn't know her as well as Starlight, but the amount of apathy really surprised me.
I have some wisdom I'd like to share, in the form of a question: When is going the extra mile too far, & when is holding back considered neglect? The answer, always varies. As someone who, for the past 2 years (as far I can remember) that has been excessively busy, to the point that his common sense waivers, I can relate between the need of others over others, when they're both equally important. Though I didn't have much chance of drawing the line, Starlight did what she thought was right, & did what she needed to when it didn't go well. And let's be real, how are any of us supposed to know how something is going to turn out? Anything could change, thus changing the outcome. The best we can do, is just that, the best we can do. And it always helps to better ourselves through the events, both success or failure. And technically (no pun intended), if you do your best, you don't fail, even if the event doesn't go well. And given that they already did a Yona episode & a Smolder episode, there's a good chance that, in the later half of Season 9, there could be an episode for each of the other Student 6. And that's when they could include that part, or something else, about Ocellus. It would only be 4 out of the 13 remaining episodes, & given how well the Season is so far, they would be more than worth it. And who know's who or what will included. I can't wait!
Everyone had student council like that drwolf for example like mad munchkin is a big heart pony also that was cockatrice turn into stone at him annoying stare by maud's boyfriend SIGN HANNAH CALL ME SOUL HARMONY

Just a thought, maybe once the season is finished, you could do a run through of every lesson from every episode?
I'm glad the episode didn't do what I thought would happen. When I heard the synopsis I thought Starlight would get a new promotion as a counselor that she believed she was more then qualified for, only for it to be very difficult and a typical lesson about not overworking yourself and status quo, she goes back to her old job.
Just wait for next episode
i like this review and the episode was fun to watch.
and now i am looking forward to the next episode.
I promise to be good, and not make a joke about Maud having a rock hard boyfriend.....
Dame it!
This is probably one of mauds best episode
I like this season. There’s a lot of eps that are focused on minor characters. This one focused on Starlight’s friends and spoilers there is gonna be two more focused just on the princesses and the CMC.
You gotta get yourself one of those Applewatch bands that responds to knocks at YOUR office door!
Very enjoyable episode 8.5/10
I was half expecting some group of creatures to come together/get appointed by Starlight to stand in for her.
Fufufufu... and this is just the beginning my dear doctor. Just wait for the next two eps. ;-)
My favorite part of the episode was when Starlight teleported to her office to find Trixie there with the most unamused face you've ever seen.
I always enjoy your reviews 👍👍
Thanks!
Pet cockatrice? That seems preaty dangerous.
The one thing that put Trixie slightly more in the wrong for me, personally, was when Terramar was panicking about Silverstream being missing and Trixie looked like she couldn't care less. I understand that Trixie wouldn't know her as well as Starlight, but the amount of apathy really surprised me.
In the prologue of part 4 of the return of queen chrysalis arc, Spike and Princess Celestia fend off giant cockatrices in Canterlot.
Poor Trixie, feeling neglected and lonely.
Starlight x Trixie
Starlight x Sunburst
StarBurst, all the way.
Do a therapy session with the changelings? Ps you are a good youtuber.
Maybe with Thorax and/or Pharynx? Dunno if the entire hive could fit into Doc's office, whichever iteration you use.
Everyone had student council like that drwolf for example like mad munchkin is a big heart pony also that was cockatrice turn into stone at him annoying stare by maud's boyfriend
