I'm honestly surprised that there's no mention of the Tagi 4. They existed in a time when the morality of alliances was questioned, by both the players and the public. And the audience's mixed views on the strategic aspect of the game led to a wave of hatred for the eventual final four of Borneo.
Flabbergasted that the Four Horsemen from Fiji didn't make the list. I'd probably knock Naviti off the list in favor of them. Not because Naviti didn't deserve to be on the list, but I see their effects on the season as being different. The Naviti alliance made the season boring. The Four Horsemen made the season unpleasant. I'd argue that's worse, personally. Still, good vid overall, thanks!
I think the 4 Horseman were left off due to kinda falling into that "love to hate" category. That Edgardo blindside is one of the absolute greatest moments in all of survivor.
Alex is one of the nicer players in the first half and Edgardo was pretty pleasant, being one of the few people to voice any degree of issue with the way Rocky treated Anthony. And Dreamz seems like an okay guy, car deal or no. They’re really not that bad.
I knew “the family” would be on here. South Pacific is my guilty pleasure simply due to watching the family operate from a sociological perspective. Although I don’t enjoy them from a game perspective, I did enjoy watching their antics
I really didn’t dislike the axis of evil any more than I did Mike or Shirin or Joe. I remember the whole season as a joyless slog, though on a recent rewatch I did find some pleasure in Jen’s snark, Rodney’s petulant hissy fits, and especially the solemnity and gravitas with which Dan constantly _intoned_ utter nonsense.
Yeah. I mean, I didn't like hate Mike or Joe during airing, but I never liked Shirin at all. The moment her pre-game interview mentioned how she went and killed and skinned a rabbit before the game started simply to "see what it felt like", I lost any chance of NOT disliking her.
I always liked Mike, for the whole season. Rodney and Dan were actively targeting Mike , but then gaslit him when he found them out. I found the season super enjoyable because no matter what Rodney or Dan did, they just couldn't get their way. It was immensely satisfying to me to watch them melt down every time Mike won something.
Honestly, I think Boston Rob's alliance in all stars of him, Amber, Jenna L, Rupert, and Big Tom deserve to be mentioned here. They all showed some very icky behavior and mean-spirited stuff. That scene where they are celebrating that Sue is gone after what she has gone through was always super icky to me (especially from Big Tom here). Also, the way they treat Shi-Ann on her way out I thought was unnecessary and downright mean (especially from Jenna). As much as I love Boston Rob, this alliance always left a bad taste in my mouth.
My only defense for them is Rob was actually the 3rd biggest jury goat in the merge after of course Phillip and Natalie. Grant, Ashley, Matt from Ometepe all beat him in a jury vote, and possibly even Andrea as well. Still it should have been obvious if they let him he would bring Phillip and Natalie T, the two biggest goats in Survivor history.
Once I saw the title of the video, I was just hoping The Family was in the first spot. I totally agree with your assessment. It's also such a challenge to rewatch that season because of that. But it's ultimately vital to watch this season to understand Brandon's explosion a few seasons later.
I always wonder whether production somehow knew that Will's public happy go lucky persona was a facade and that he was a very nasty and dark sided person or that they just found out when we did.
In fairness to the Raro Alliance, their likeability wasn't helped by the fact that they were playing against the Aitu Four. Even the Final Four fire making challenge in Cook Islands is more popular than they were.
Even the Aitu Four are pretty boring when you think about it, but everybody sees the ethnic-minorities alliance through rose-tinted glasses. The whole post-merge would've been the most boring thing ever if Penner didn't exist. Coincidentally I was rooting for Penner, so I hated the Raros with a passion.
I have so many video ideas for your channel so I’m just gonna put them here: - best/weirdest voting confessionals - best/weirdest exit confessionals - good season, bad winner - bad season, good winner - contestants who played with their heart/emotions (dawn, sugar, Lisa) - players who were undone by choosing the wrong final tribal partner - players who were undone by choosing the wrong people for a reward - funniest confessionals of all time
As hated as The Family was, Coach’s exploitation of religion and his downfall resulting from it makes the final tribal council and general finale of South Pacific one of my personal favorites. I know most people want to watch Survivor and not have its villains potentially bring up a real world evil that many have experienced, it is an incredibly fascinating tale of one man’s fall as a result of his weaponization of religion.
I do think South Pacific is interesting in hindsight/on a binge from a sociological perspective for the reasons you mentioned. I agree the finale is fantastic, and it actually climbs my rankings each time I view it. Watching it live however was absolute torture and the memory haunts me to this day
I'd like to see a video done on the Survivor Blacklist, or the unofficial list of contestants who've been either confirmed or implied to not be allowed back on the show.
I am surprised that Boston Rob's "buddy system alliance" wasn't one. That season just appeared to be geared for Rob to win. The people in his tribe were like mindless zombies following him off a cliff.
LOL most people hated Ometepe more than Zapatera. Even Boston Rob fans mostly hated every single Ometepe except for Rob since they were all so passive, boring, and stupid.
I don't consider Zapatera to even be the worst alliance of RI, let alone top3 ever. They were kinda like La Mina imo, just a boring group of people that you didn't really care about.
I agree but if they would not have thrown that challenge in episode 3, the game and season may have been a lot different. But they just went with their feelings about Russell instead. RIP Ralph
Pretty much, Rodney wanted revenge on Mike because of his bromance with Joaquin ended too soon (Roaqun for life), and Jenn idoling out Kelly, basically gave Rodney the chance, along with the auction

Coach has my all-time favorite moment in all of Survivor in South Pacific. When he is shown throwing popcorn in his mouth and laughing like a child while watching Jack & Jill and then after proceeds to say “The movie Jack & Jill is a lot like the game of Survivor”… Absolutely brilliant.
Savaii is much much worse than Upolu imo, as Ozzy and Jim’s treatment of Cochran after the flip made Ozzy and Jim extremely unlikeable and it was impossible to root for Savaii after that
No they ate Cochran up and he deserved it. Like he actively threw away a million dollars not only for himself but also his whole alliance, they had a right to be mad
No Upolu is far worse. The worst alliance of all is Ometepe were everyone was unlikeable, particularly Boston Rob, Francesca, Phillip, and Kristina, and where Boston Rob was a huge jerk off this season and treated everyone horribly, especialy the people he personally hated like Grant and Kristina.
@@scottidols9933 Did you see how Cochran was treated by the Savaii alliance (minus Dawn) all of pre-merge? Honestly, I'd have flipped on those assholes too the second I could, because they made the pecking order pretty clear there
I dislike the Ometempe more than Zapterra. At least Zapterra was actually trying to play the game. The second Rob stepped foot on the beech Ometempe thought he would do everything for them.
I’m a little surprised that the Chuay Gahn alliance wasn’t mentioned or alluded to at all. Brian and Clay being the strategic helms of this group was hard to watch given how unlikable they were, and Ted left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth following the stuff with Ghandia, and that taste never fully went away. Jan and Helen were likable enough, but just ask yourself how many people look back at Survivor Thailand and think "Oh yeah, I remember Jan."
I honestly liked the Zaps. They were a super normal group of people and I wish we could have seen how things would have went down had they won control at the merge. They got under edited because they went out in a boring Pagoning that they had no chance of stopping.
I agree. I hated the Omotepes more for their arrogance (Phillip, Ashley, Rob), extreme passiveness (Grant, Natalie, even Andrea unfortunately), and stupidity (Matt).
I would still put the World's Apart alliance at #1 but that's because it's the only time I've ever watched survivor and fast clapped when someone got voted out (Rodney).
Ozzy's final elimination at the hands of the Family alliance I found amusing. The elimination is comparable to a hunter bagging an injured wild animal 😃
My favorite part is that there was no winning in South Pacific. We were gonna get a pagonging either way, and it was either gonna be the creept cult family winning out, or the toxic, bullying keith/whitney/jim/ozzy group winning out. The season had almost nothing but villains on it everywhere
I doubt Savaii would've pagonged Upolu, they were very fractured. Cochran and Dawn could've still flipped to Upolu the next round, and Jim would've tried to blindside Ozzy early in the merge
The alliance I think you left out is "the 7" from fans vs favorites 2. They just dominated the game way too hard and purposefully picked off their likable players at the end foe jury management
It's weird that Raro is the First tribe on this list while Upolu us last, cause Upolu's rival tribe, Savaii, had the same immature entitlement that I saw in Raro. With the exception of Dawn, everyone on that tribe was really douchy, and the way they treated Cochran wasn't any better than the way Raro treated Penner.
Granted, Cochran was pretty unlikeable himself. His humor style is extremely punch-down (which is even more pronounced when he’s in a power position on Caramoan), and I remember more than a few “jokes” at the expense of women in general. But yeah, for as culty as Upolu is, they were probably the nicer tribe on a whole lol.
@@ScorpionTDC Yeah, he was a bit cocky and riding a high in Caramoan, but grated he was playing with a whole season of Trainwrecks and people who weren't even real fans of Survivor. South Pacific Cochran was nothing like that. HE was the one being punched down on.
@@roger_towny_jr Minus all the jokes and quips at the expense of women in general. I don't even remember his tribe really punching down on him before he flipped (where yeah, they did then). They mostly talked voting him out because he was weak in challenges + didn't do much around camp... which is completely and entirely fair. Weak players ARE generally voted out or in discussion to be voted out. That's not punching down - just Survivor. As for Caramoan, I don't think someone who got handed a freebie win with a season stacked with all his personal friends has any room to punch down on anyone in the cast.
@ScorpionTDC What comments at the expense of women? And no, it wasn't just discussion about voting him off, they were outright bullying him. Kieth and Witney constantly made him feel bad and treated him like a loser just because he wanted a place to sleep in the shelter at night. There's a whole offscreen incident where Ozzy forced Cocran help him kill a chicken, which he was extremely uncomfortable with (pretty normal if you've never done it before) and when the chickens blood splattered all over him and he was naturally upset, Ozzy LAUGHED at his expense. And Caramoan can't be understated that cast was terrible. Most of the favorites weren't actually favorites, but just disasters waiting to happen (being honest here, Brandon Hantz should NEVER have been on that season) and the "fanc weren't actually fans. This has been Cochran's dream for years to play this game, and he's put on a season with a bunch of recruits who don't even give a sh*t about the game!
@@roger_towny_jr Never heard of the chicken incident before or them bullying him over sleeping in the shelter. Cochran made a lot of jokes about how he shouldn’t be considered the weakest player on the tribe when there’s a bunch of women still on the tribe - I remember them because they immediately took me from sympathizing with the guy on SoPa to actively rooting against him and disliking him. It’s worth noting that a decent chunk of the tribe Cochran flipped to dislikes him too - particularly Sophie who was easily one of the most level-headed and reasonable players on that season by a long shot. It can be a case where Cochran is kind of an asshole and his tribe were kind of assholes (which appears to be the case). The Caramoan cast sucking was done to ensure Cochran could get an EZ-freebie win… lol. He legitimately has no excuse to judge. If he gets a competent cast filled with actual fans and actual favorites, he doesn’t win.
I really didn't like the religious cult alliance but when the other alliance is reminiscent of when the nerd at lunchtime tried to sit with the preppy high school kids, it makes Upolu somewhat more tolerable.
Great list, as there are many more that should have been mentioned. But, kicking it old school with Season 5 (Thailand), I remember Jeff Probst once saying in EW that the Chuay Gahn alliance was the least deserving Final 4 ever. Can't remember what year he said that. Wonder what he would say about some of the ones in later years
The current Reba alliance this season I cannot stand to watch. Mostly because the rest of the tribe sees how strong Reba is and they continue to vote everyone out except Reba. Multiple players have had the chance to flip the script on Reba and instead they take the easy way out only to be voted out themselves.... By Reba
I thought Chuy Gan (Thailand) would be on here because of how unlikable/unpleasant they were (Jeff even said that Brian, Clay, Jan, Helen and Ted were the least likable finalists in the shows history)
As much as I hate the family from South Pacific, the Axis of Evil above them for me, but still 1 and 2 in my opinion. Say what you will about the family, but I still found Coach entertaining, and even if WAW helped make Sophie a much more beloved winner, I still liked her here and think her win was a solid one! Brandon sucks hard and Coach’s behaviors were indeed pretty messed up at times, but I think he came out looking better than Rodney, Dan or Will on Worlds Apart. Those three torpedoed that season hard. Even as someone who likes Carolyn and Tyler, they couldn’t add enough to make up for those deficiencies, and the less said about Joe and Sierra the better 😬 Mike Jenn and Shirin are still the bright spots of that season though, no question, and that I can still appreciate!
The cult of Rob I feel can have some fun in viewing. You have a bunch of young people having a good time while their leader wins tons of immunities and controls the vote in such dominance it makes a boring season entertaining, at least in the early and late game episodes. The cult of Coach is just despicable manipulation that isn't even owned up to by the people responsible. I'll admit I have bias because I have faith myself, but you're just watching a man claim he's a good person screw with the head of an already struggling 19-year old.
I feel like the Reba 4 gets some hate in season 45, but I don’t understand it. They are playing the game really well by sticking together. I think the edit isn’t giving them their flowers. It’s clear in the exit interviews by other contestants that the Reba 4 hid their alliance, which is probably why the Belo’s had such a hard time banding together.
I think viewers are bored of the Rebas just kind of steamrolling everyone. They've been playing the post-merge very well, but the lack of opposition could make the show a bit dull for some people.
@@kaitlynwickham6237 that’s true. I’ve been frustrated by the Belo’s but that’s not Reba’s fault. Again I just think the edit could have given them a more well rounded edit that showed their social/strategic game in hiding their alliance
Sometimes pagongings happen and honestly this is a case when it is completely deserved. Reba are a great alliance with great gameplayers and while the conclusion may be boring, I mean who were they up against? Belo? I liked Bruce but he's genuinely one of the worst players to have ever made the merge, and while he was awful, Katurah and Kendra refusing to work with him or at least around him isn't a good choice either. Jake's the only one who actually was smart enough as funny as it sounds but gameplay wise Belo just couldn't connect. Lulu isn't even worth a discussion bc 2 thirds of them were already out, and Kaleb was so high target wise that he was a dead fish especially when Reba actually played smart. Emily is great and really the only non Reba player that has any chance imo unless Katurah manages to reach F3.
the reba 4 are definitely good, but I do question whether they're playing extremely well or if belo is just playing extremely poorly that it makes reba look amazing. in the last episode, them splitting the vote was a bad idea and should've got one of them voted out but belo dropped the ball on that one.
@@getthisbread3877 you're saying this as if it's contradictory. They split the votes because they knew Belo could never work together. Reba are genuinely skilled, not lucky. If Belo were tight, Reba would probably not think about splitting so easily. Belo are messy and also Reba are tight at the same time, which lead to the result you're seeing here today.
Ironically, I couldn’t stand the majority hero’s tribe alliance. Colby and Rupert were insanely self righteous, Amanda was bitter at Parvati for lying even though she lied first, and James was a complete asshole out of nowhere.
Rodney will always be remembered for crying like a baby every single time someone won a reward and didn't invite him to go with them like he just deserved to go and assumed every single person was gonna take him with them
Rob always leads an alliance to boycott and isolate those in the minority. It's just uncomfortable to watch. Shii Ann was treated like garbage while the whole Zapatera received the same treatment.
Man I’m starting to feel this way about survivor 46’ so called 6 person alliance. Not because they’re annoying(Q is) but because it’s led to bad luck over and over again. They’re voting out members of their own alliance over and over again.

I think the 4 Horseman were left off due to kinda falling into that "love to hate" category. That Edgardo blindside is one of the absolute greatest moments in all of survivor.
@@dashieprodx Yeah, def not a great alliance but their downfall was pretty satisfying.
“Jeff, I’m an adopted child”
Yeah I really didn't like Shirin which made it a little difficult to feel bad for her.
Jenn deserves a spot on Heroes vs Villains II as a hero for putting up with that group
Honorable mention to Rob's zombies. In all honesty it was horrible no body from that side tried to flip. The buddy system made the season more boring.
I always wonder whether production somehow knew that Will's public happy go lucky persona was a facade and that he was a very nasty and dark sided person or that they just found out when we did.
the beef jerky line at 10:40 is brilliant
Triple entendre don’t ask me how
In fairness to the Raro Alliance, their likeability wasn't helped by the fact that they were playing against the Aitu Four. Even the Final Four fire making challenge in Cook Islands is more popular than they were.
The Raro alliance were just total douchebags, though. Like even Parvati was such a loser
its ironic because the aitu four arent exactly an interesting alliance. theyre just way more likeable than raro
Doesn't mean it makes them more heroes and likable to some
The Reba 4 from this season (season 45) is quickly approaching this status.
I have so many video ideas for your channel so I’m just gonna put them here:
- best/weirdest voting confessionals
- best/weirdest exit confessionals
- good season, bad winner
- bad season, good winner
- contestants who played with their heart/emotions (dawn, sugar, Lisa)
- players who were undone by choosing the wrong final tribal partner
- players who were undone by choosing the wrong people for a reward
- funniest confessionals of all time
As hated as The Family was, Coach’s exploitation of religion and his downfall resulting from it makes the final tribal council and general finale of South Pacific one of my personal favorites.
Man, Idk, Zapatera was TV death.
I agree but if they would not have thrown that challenge in episode 3, the game and season may have been a lot different. But they just went with their feelings about Russell instead. RIP Ralph
Idoled Out how did your TH-cam channel change, well I'm going to say for the better when you joined the mafia with Matt and Jag?
Rodneys alliance already decided to vote Mike out before the auction. The reason Mike even pulled that stunt is because he knew he was on the outs.
Pretty much, Rodney wanted revenge on Mike because of his bromance with Joaquin ended too soon (Roaqun for life), and Jenn idoling out Kelly, basically gave Rodney the chance, along with the auction
If I was sleep, food, and internet deprived, and I had to deal with Phillip, there would be someone buried on day 2
Damn... the flavor aid reference... now that's a deep cut
It’s crazy to think that an alliance with Parvati could be disliked
Tbh, her first season was rough on the edges.. like when she first returned I remember people really were just asking why she was chosen.
She got lucky
@@Tuturial464 This. Also heard that she was a strong player first season but the editing didn't show it and if Penner didn't switch vote she would've been a strong candidate to win the whole thing
@@DallasT1998she however didn't think Yul had the idol. She could have increased her chances by trying to align with Penner and could have destroyed the Aitu4 if she had more physical powerhouses.
Let's be honest her social game stunk and also. Eww gross
@@Tuturial464 I mean tbf, after what's been said about her by former castmates and also given her performance on The Traitors, I do think she has a poor social game... She was lucky her competition when she won (Amanda) was worst and Cirie would have cleaned the floor on her had it been a Final 3 then...She has good tactics to get to the end or deep but she has poor social skills. That's why Sandra would trump her any day in any game.
We hated Zapaterra but we loved Ralph! Rest in peace 🙏🏻 he was fun to watch. I love that he voted for Phillip. Rebel King.
I loved Ralph ❤️❤️❤️
Coach has my all-time favorite moment in all of Survivor in South Pacific.
When he is shown throwing popcorn in his mouth and laughing like a child while watching Jack & Jill and then after proceeds to say “The movie Jack & Jill is a lot like the game of Survivor”…
Absolutely brilliant.
How could the Raro alliance be on the list, THE Candace was in it!
From Raro tribe??
Upolu alliance defender for life, it was psychologically fascinating to watch
Honestly, I'd have flipped on those assholes too the second I could, because they made the pecking order pretty clear there
@@NYChica23 Also, let's not forget Coach masterfully convinced him to jump ship. Super underrated game move on his part.
Really shows how unlikable the South Pacific cast was when people argue which tribe was worst than the other one
Lol I literally wrote my college English final about the “Family Alliance” last year and this just proves all the points I made in my essay!
That’s amazing!!!
Wendell, how did your game change for, I'm going to say the better, when you joined Naviti Strong with Dom and I?
Perfect
I honestly liked the Zaps. They were a super normal group of people and I wish we could have seen how things would have went down had they won control at the merge. They got under edited because they went out in a boring Pagoning that they had no chance of stopping.
I agree. I hated the Omotepes more for their arrogance (Phillip, Ashley, Rob), extreme passiveness (Grant, Natalie, even Andrea unfortunately), and stupidity (Matt).
That's why you don't throw a challenge.
NOT THE RODNEY DIG LMAO
6:10 nightmare fuel 😭
That Big Brother callout was uncalled for but necessary
I think the direct opposite the best alliances left by fans are: Tika 3, Foa Foa 4, Aitu 4, Etc…..
TBH, I hated the Savaii alliance that season far more than the family and Ometepe more than Zapatera
The fact that you said they’re not bad human beings after showing a clip of Silas…
Yeah, he's excluded from that little disclaimer
I really didn't like the religious cult alliance but when the other alliance is reminiscent of when the nerd at lunchtime tried to sit with the preppy high school kids, it makes Upolu somewhat more tolerable.
Both of the alliances that season sucked.
Enjoyable, even.
The Mafia jump scare is at 6:07
Coach 100% ran that whole Season! Dominant Performance and I would've liked it better if he Had won🔥🔥🔥
By Reba
I love that Coach blasted Russell for using religion to manipulate in HvV… then did the same exact thing in SP.
9:30 caught me off guard
I've never understood why so many people loved Parviti in the game.
Even as someone who likes Carolyn and Tyler, they couldn’t add enough to make up for those deficiencies, and the less said about Joe and Sierra the better 😬
Mike Jenn and Shirin are still the bright spots of that season though, no question, and that I can still appreciate!
I liked seeing coach actually be a real villain.
Yeah but it’s really cool watching coach actually be a villain.
it just sucks that Dom didn’t win
One of your best recurring jokes is Hero Candice lmao 😭
Missy and Baylor from SJDS
I’m gonna be honest though Sophie did a pretty good job of being the sane one in her alliance until she blew up at the end
I think they should bring Kellyn from Ghost Island back....
This is the first time I've noticed that Coach was wearing a toe ring during South Pacific, it explains so much!
How do you think the Reba 4 will be looked as in the future? I kinda feel like they're the most "hated" of the new era
that dig about Candice and Adam kissing, you missed out on having Michaela saying “thats nasty”
Hating the Reba 4 of this season right now because they are just dominating the whole thing
That Rodney NNN post really is nightmare fuel
Great list!!!!
If I was on Upolu, I’d rather be voted out than be forced into prayer constantly.
Is this a repost?
NOT THE WHITE ROBES 😂
Ironically, I couldn’t stand the majority hero’s tribe alliance. Colby and Rupert were insanely self righteous, Amanda was bitter at Parvati for lying even though she lied first, and James was a complete asshole out of nowhere.
It was an alliance that had too many egos/I’s and not enough team players
Ghost Island could've been a top tier season if the Navitis broke apart at merge
Maria must have studied Angela's game because Angela referenced her jury vote because of fire in his eyes
We do not disrespect Bowie Jane here.
yall not rocking with the family?
Coach's "Holy" alliance is the reason I rank South Pacific towards the bottom of my season rankings and why I refuse to rewatch it!
Did you mean togas with the white robes? Because when you said “white robes”, I completely thought you meant KKK robes.
Zapatara gets way to much hate. They where so much more entertaining then Boston’s robs boring ass alliance
The only way to make “The Family” any worse was for Coach to be such a wuss at FTC, and end up losing his entirely deserved million dollars as a result. All he had to do was own up to it, he dominated the entire game.
Man this list is right on the money.
Holding on to his seed? His SEED ?? Why would you tell me this ?????????
