- In this special video, we present the journey of Gornergrat train (Gornergratbahn or Matterhorn Railway) from Ski paradise village of Zermatt Switzerland to the Gornergrat station (3,100m asl), along with some aerial shots of the Gornergrat station and surrounding alps.
From car-free village of Zermatt, two amazing (jaw-dropping) train journeys begin - 1. Gornergrat Matterhorn Railway, and 2. The Glacier Express train. The Gornergrat matterhorn cogwheel train presents a sublime scenic journey passing through the snow covered village of Zermatt, to stations Findelbach, Riffelalp, Riffelberg and Rotenboden before arriving on Gornergrat station (3100m asl) on a 9km long narrow gauge railway track. The Gornergrat station presents a spectacular 360 degree sublime views of the Swiss alps, Matterhorn mountain, Monta Rosa Massif and the Gorner Glacier. Matterhorn is also famous because of the TOBLERONE Swiss chocolate with a logo of the Matterhorn on its cover. www.gornergrat.ch/en/
The Glacier Express train is a luxury train journey starting from Zermatt village that can bring travellers to Visp, Brig, Disentis, Andermatt, Chur, Filisur, Samedan and St. Moritz in Graubunden canton.

Thank you for an absolutely superb video which reminded me of my many visits to Switzerland. In my view the Gornergratbahn is the most spectacular mountain line in Switzerland. IT IS FAR BETTER THAN THE JUNGFRAUBAHN. The JB is mostly in tunnel, and there is NOT a 360 degrees view at the top. The Gornergrat is also FAR CHEAPER than the Jungfraubahn. In particular note that the Swiss Travel Pass, the tourist version of the GA owned by many Swiss residents, gives a 50% discount on the Gornergrat, but only a 25% discount on the Jungfraubahn.
