Portal Stories: Mel speedrun in

Segmented speedrun for the popular Portal 2 Mod: Portal Stories Mel in the time of 24 minutes 30 seconds and 920 milliseconds.
Portal Stories Mel uses the same engine as Portal 2 and as such feature a lot of glitches found in it.
The run category is Inbounds, same as RTA runs of this game.
Source Auto Record is a plugin commonly used for Portal 2 engine game speedruns that has many quality of life features without providing any time advantage over vanilla game. It also has a much improved and easier to use demo renderer compared to default, which is how the demos were rendered.
Completed in 95 segments, spanning over 3 and a half years.

At 6:55 for a short frame, the turrets are normal portal 2 turrets.

I can explain why, there's a script that loads in the map that changes the model of the turrets. When the segment changed, it took a few ticks (ticks are basically frames but server side) for the script to fully load in and activate. So before that script was loaded in, the turret models were normal.

@@bpnbeckeroo Interesting, but aren't these "segments" just demos and save files? Those files store the modelname of each entity.

@@lassdasi I'd guess each segment is a save and load, which would need to reload the map and any scripts. I'm not exactly sure how saving and loading works, because I don't have the source code to Portal 2, but I think that's the only possible explanation. Yes this would use demos, but demos just record what happens in the server, not actually recording the screen.

Its a segmented speedrun, read the description

@@Kerluck Yeah, but this is a cut in the middle of the same puzzle, with the same runner, trying to look like it's a single run of that puzzle, when it's actually multiple spliced together on the same puzzle.
It's one thing to splice in the middle of loading screens, it's another to splice in the middle of a gameplay sequence. Speedrunners got disqualified for that specific kind of splicing.
