I've lost a couple of 3lb hammers and a few hatchets on job sites in my day, yet I've never lost my favorite Estwing hammer. I suspect the 3 pounders and hatchets are irresistible to the sticky-finger hired hands.... I'd hate to be babysitting a $250 hammer on the job site all day. At home, hell yeah! I'd love to own one! But no way is it ever going to get tossed into the job site toolbox...

The hammer is expensive, but, not for a tradesman. Would a drywaller balk at a $250 impact driver? And electrician for a $250 multimeter? Nope, they all own one. Likewise for a concrete setter. And, for a hand-crafted item that didn't come out of a factory, but from a blacksmith shop, Scott appears to be quite literally giving these away. You couldn't make one for less.

I doubt many gardeners desire a hammer like this but I do have trouble finding my favorite shovel made from plow steel that was called a True Temper #1 back in the day. I do see some advertised for sale for $80 but I don't know how if they have not been made for 30 years. I guess they are "clones". There are a few other gardening tools I would buy that no one make any more (that I know of) that were widely available back in the 1960's. Tools that were made for men and not women that lasted for for ever until someone swiped them because they almost never wore out. Having said that I still would like to add one of these hammers to my pile of sledge hammers in the 5# size I'm getting too old for the 6# hammer :o) I like going to garage sales looking for good hammers and axes and the like . . .
