This boy is a highly talented prodigy and you can clearly see, that his playing isn't fake (if you know how guitars work and sound and just look at his fingers when he plays, you know it's actually him playing, what you hear). Maituo is definitely NOT faking! I've been playing guitar for about 52 years, done quite a bit of studio work, have played in & even led bands & play all styles of music from jazz, to metal, rock, classical. I only "blow my own horn" to show that I have proper credentials to judge this. Like you, I can tell if someone is faking playing guitar. As someone who is also a metal shredder, you are right. The arpeggios and runs are completely real. Also when he is playing fast alternative picking runs, you can tell that he is playing them cause he looks relaxed and he isn’t using to much tension or speed in his picking hand. Meaning that he also doing hammer ons and pull offs in addition to picking.

I saw him play Steve Vai's For The Love of God and he nailed it, you cant fake that! I'm 65, been playing since I was 23 and I cant do that, this kid is a musical prodigy. Marcin, Mancuso, Farrant are all incredible players too, makes me feel good about the future of guitar.

A person that plays guitar can see that not only his fretting hand but his pick hand are in perfect syncing with what's being played. That when the occasion calls for sweep picking his hands are in perfect harmony and his timing is immaculate.

The most important part of his playing is that he plays with FEELING. His tech is great; he has technicality and he has great technique. But he plays with FEELING and that isn’t something you learn after doing scale drills … that is done from the soul. And this kid has FEEL - that is what I love about his playing. 🤘

Nah, the kid is authentic...period. He has technical abilities and plays from the gut, which for many guitarist takes years to learn. That's something that is innate, not learned.
