I drove 20 hours straight from Denver with Adam Wheeler to see Jason play at this show. I live in Sacramento now. Years later, I ended up meeting the same barista serving coffee at this show in Portland while hopping trains, and hopped with him all over for a long time. Fun times, now married and happy. Jason literally changed my life by this one show.
I was at this show as well. First and last time I ever saw Jason perform. Drove through the cold from South Lake Tahoe in my '76 Gremlin with my buddy Reid. Changed my life too.
I discovered Jason Molina only about a year ago. Nothing flashy about the guy. Just a damn good musician. A ton of heart and feeling in his music. Sad that he passed. One of my favorites.
@@TR-yi8up I remember reading about this being a part of his philosophy somewhere. Learn the song sure, but don't waste good takes, first might be the best. Transcendent.

"Farewell Transmission" is a goddamn heartbreaker. Jason Molina was such a beautiful songwriter. Immense loss.
A peak and full expression of music
It was a first take. The band had never played it. And maybe they shouldn’t have ever played it again, you know?

Thanks for posting this! One of the best Be Simples of all time.
What a shame he doesn't get more love. Very emotional prevoking songs. I love it.
I'm so very sorry, Jason. I'm with you.
Holy fuck, this is good.🥰

Anyone know what guitar he's playing? Gibson SG?
