  • My favorite pair of speakers is the mighty B&W 685 S1. I bought a floor model pair from a store in Toronto. Since then, B&W has iterated the 600 series with newer models, and I have been super curious to see what they sounded like. When this most recent release of the 600 Series was released, I requested a pair. I was able to get my paws on the smaller sibling, the 607 S3. It is a beautiful small bookshelf/ stand mount and looks to be a more refined and far better-built speaker. But how does it sound?

    Love my 685 S1 as well. Engaging and intoxicating speakers! Been thinking about the 607 S3 myself in another room..
    Thank you for your input and review.

    I’m currently running stereo 703 S3 floorstanders, and just purchased these 607 S3 for rear surrounds.
    Slowly starting to grow to a full home cinema Atmos/DTS:X setup.
    If these go well, I’ll probably pick up another pair for L/R sides.
    Thanks for doing this review, perfect timing :) there sadly really aren’t many B&W product reviews/unboxings out there for their high end products.

    Thanks for the review. In my experience, the smallest versions of B&Ws designs can be their best in many ways. For example, I’ve owned CM1s, CM5s, and CM6 S2s, and my favorite of those were the little CM1s…they were really exceptional.

      I do feel like a lucky duck! The CM9 floorstanders I had recently were certainly better but you would expect that. I am using a Rotel S14, so thanks also for your review of that piece (I love it).

    Hi,Im just Curious,WHICH speaker would you chouse for more "surround,3d,movie" Sound,(in music)between 685 and q3030i ? :)

    • @0102studio
      @0102studio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3030i beats the old 685 in scale and looks. Its a tie when it comes to clarity. The new 606 S3 smokes them both. But I still have the 685s. I’ll have em till they no longer work.

    Great video! How is the Bowers compare to Monitor Audio Silver Series. Wanna hear your thoughts on that. Thanks

      Ooh, that’s tricky, I have yet to hear the silver 50s, but the silver 100 and B&w 606 would be an interesting comparison!

    How is the instrument texture? I have noticed alot of speakers, while tone may be good, among other aspects of SQ, alot of speakers lack microdetails/texture and the space that makes it easier to identify and appreciate music (as in not feeling too crowded or obscured.
    On the other hand, a more crowded presentation may work for home theater especially if voices are more present and defined, then lack of texture doesn't stand out as much as people respond to the overall background sound well enough if voice is understood to follow the action/plot.
    Even higher end speakers can obscure texture thereby affecting how musical (foot tapping, lively etc) a presentation may be.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

    • @0102studio
      @0102studio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I foubd it to be crisp and clear with just enough texture. My older 685 feel more congested in comparison.

      But they are small speakers, so do keep that in mind. They wont feel as expansive as a larger model.

      @@steveopenshaw1219 yeah the noise gate I was using doesn’t help at all. I agree that its pretty horrid sounding. Its a learning process and the best part of youtube is getting constructive feedback realtime. Especially when learning how to make videos from scratch. Hopefully my newer videos (the ones without a mic in the shot) will reflect this change for the better. 🤞
