HOW TO: KINKY / SPRING TWISTS TUTORIAL | $12 EASY Protective Style for 4c Hair (No Crochet)

  • Hi lovelies! Let me show you how to get this super easy kinky twists hairstyle at home. This look is the perfect protective style and it’s been one of my favourites for a while now. You don’t have to worry about the hair extensions blending into your 4a/4b/4c hair, because it matches kinkier textures perfectly! You can achieve this look with just 1/2 pack of Outre X-pression Springy Afro Twist (I used the 24 inch one with 3 bundles in 1 pack). I install my twists without using a crochet needle or rubber bands and it took me about 7 hours to complete. I really love this style because it looks so similar to my own twists, just with some added length and volume. Let me know if you would try this look for your next protective style!

    I love your video and tried it today and loved it. My question is how do prevent your hair from coming out the twist? I’ve done twists on my hair before and this is always my issue.

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      Thank you, I’m glad you loved it 💗 I like to use leave in conditioner and I twist the hair pretty tightly, and that works for me. You could also apply a bit of edge control or gel to your hair as you twist to keep it from sticking out

    Beautiful and seems pretty simple. I'm a bit lost on making the loop, though. Are you crossing the two pieces? Thanks for this!

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      Yes, I'm crossing the two pieces like a 't' and then you put the two sides of one piece together to form 3 strands in total. I hope that helps! 💕

    I did this style last night. It was bomb!!! This morning, I cut and dipped my hair😢😢😢. Biggest mistake ever! I don't recommend dipping this style!! Now I'm sitting here looking SAF😅😢😊. Idk what to do.😢

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that! If it’s just the ends that are messed up, I would try retwisting them and using little rubber bands on the ends to keep them from unraveling. Or if that doesn’t work, I would at least rock the style in a bun/updos for a little bit to make the most of it!

    How do you know how close to put them together so that they are full but not over stuffed?

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      Honestly it takes a bit of trial and error. Something I used to do is look at other people's tutorials/pictures and try my best to copy their parting pattern and how much hair they used. So for this style I have 5 twists on each side at the front of my hair, and at the back my first row has 4 twists. I hope that helps! You can also try looking up parting charts on Pinterest

    do i have to twist while i twisting?

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      You don’t really have to, but I think it makes the twists look tighter and neater. But honestly sometimes I get tired and I just twist regularly and that looks fine too

    How do you do this without tangling the hair? I always lose almost a bun from tangling.

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      I just try to take my time whenever I’m handling the hair. I still get some tangling too though. Applying some leave in conditioner as you twist makes it easier to manage too

    • @naturallyalexandriajade

      Yes you can 🤗 You can let your hair air dry afterwards, and follow up with a leave in conditioner (mix it with water in a spray bottle for easy application), oil and some mousse and you’re good to go!
