This is the absolute pinnacle. I'm listening to the Handies, stoned, playing a game of Civ V (vox Populi) as Rome, while eating an Uber delivered big breakfast
Shoutout Matt Schnell triangling Su Mudaerji for submission of the year. Strangling a dude unconscious with your legs while almost unconscious yourself is what MMA is all about.
Theres something extra seppuku about the fact that based off what our samurai king has said he'd agree with his fight with glover winning best bad fight
Ah, nothing like a good 3 hour and 15 minute Handies... To paraphrase Sheriff Bart, I might listen to it again, but it all depends on how much vitamin E I can get my hands on.
For KO of the year I would’ve done Moreno vs Kara France due to the prominence of their fight securing a 4 title match between him and figuredo. Although it’s not a firm loss of mental consciousness that most fans will want, I’m always a fan of liver shot TKOs
Sad that jiri vs glover wasn’t mentioned as a nominee for submission of the year since it was the first time in glover’s career he was submitted and how most people thought jiri was gonna lose on the scorecards if he didn’t get it and the absolute skill gap in glover being the better grappler but jiri was able to find victory in a no hooks rnc.
The UFC in-fact can award anyone they want as a champion irregardless of the result of any fight. The belts are not sanctioned or controlled by the athletic commission.
205 was plagued with Esparza rose syndrome fights for 2022. Just 2 big guys afraid to engage and lose so we end up with starring sparing matches with light jabs and refusal to commit because it turns out 205 is filled with a bunch of behemoths who are crumbling at their legs from their size and injuries. Dana white has complained at interviews with Stanford/Harvard that boxers get paid too much so they’re afraid to fight but just look at the ufc where fighters get paid half as much if they lose and know they’re only 3 losses away from getting paid 0.
can we state for the record… absolutely nobody wants the boring awards from you guys. with that said, i love your boring award picks. but goddamn give me the Weird Stuff Handies! YAAAAAA i’m a glutton for your sideways ideas.
The meaningless of the Aljo-TJ fight makes me more sad because of how the Aldo-Merab fight was also meaningless since Merab will never fight Aljo. I would’ve been happy even if Aldo got backpacked for a whole 25 minutes since he at least would’ve had a chance as a healthy body, and it’d be a good look on Aljo’s resume. Such a missed opportunity for Aldo to ride off into the sunset or Aljo to legitimize the start of his reign.
Leave it to Merab "The Motor" to stall out against the fence for like a combined 12 minutes for basically no reason other than to make Aldo's retirement fight boring asf
Both disgusting, but Luke’s was more erotic (I think his lips even brushed Costa at one point), and it was at the end of the fight. Luke also owed Costa a foul for getting dick punched earlier in the fight.
@@braydenjames8957 If I *had* to explain, I would say that Chandler's was a dirty attempt to win the fight by any means necessary; Rockhold's was an act of pure defiance. He knew he wasn't going to win at that point, and giving Costa the gory kiss was simply his way of flipping off a cruel and uncaring universe
I hugely disagree with calling costa vs rockhold fight of the year, I appreciate the meme worthiness you bring to it but you make it sound like a better wwf fight than what an idealized mma fight of the year. If you really need the internalized mental weirdness of it all then I would throw jiri vs glover again because you have white guy who believes in the power of bushido vs 40 year old man who is just trying to hang on and actually was finding success but ironically lost the fight by going to what he was best at. Another knock I have against rockhold/costa is that it was in Salt Lake City so the elevation had the 2 muscle heads gasping for breath during the first round.
Du Plessis could definitely beat Pereira. As bad as Till's takedown defence is, it's probably better than Pereira's. It's a definite possibility that Du Plessis takes him down, stops him on the ground or submits him.
Handies and Slackies are my favourite things about the new year
By far
❤
But nobody wants a slack handy
Same but the handies are funnier

Thank you for giving Costa vs Rockhold the love it deserves, that fight was the best thing I've ever seen in my life
One of my favorite fights i've ever seen! Old Man Rockhold refusing to go quietly into that good night.
Short of getting a win, it was the perfect retirment fight.
Thankyou for this, i've been wanting a handie all week
This is my favorite podcast and my favorite episode of the year.
There is nothing better than three whole hours of Heavy Hands, thank you so very much boys!

2:09:18 that is a perfect dramatic reading, I'm tearing up laughing at work and now my coworkers think I'm crazy
The Neil Magny Award for "deceptive physicality" / the "I want to play a game with you" Award
The dynamic between you two is great. Always a good time!

no Gane vs Gnannou for the explosive mascularity fight ?

Remind me what that is please
@@gluehuffer6955 yes I would also like to know
Yes, exactly 2,022 handies is the perfect amount.
Amazing episode, all 3 hours and change were worth it
I put on a black gown just for this, boys.
The moments the background noise stops is pure bliss
Holland is the GOAT of the lol category. He actually made Santos laugh during their fight.
Yesssss G in a Gi
Biggest butterhead: Brendan Schaub
To another great year of content from Heavy Hands. Cheers boys 🥂
Had to study for finals but this is alot more important
Sean Woodson buggy choke attempt was the submission of the year

Jiri was certainly losing but Glover seem to tap just because he was tired more than anything else.
@@utkarsh2746 it was like watching Rodolfo Viera get subbed by "Fluffy" Hernandez
My aspirational fighter of the year is Isshin, the Sword Saint
That moment when Phil realizes Adesanya is the most "improved" fighter is brilliant
Very please with the handy this year. Thanks gents

No mention of Nate the train in the meme fighter section?
The harsh audio of "G in a gi" really sets the tone here
bahahahahahahahaha I ran the intro helloooo back like 5 times
Where's John Mcane?
What a momentous occasion
You can forget Drecuss had his corner give him a handie in between rounds

The first ten seconds lmao
Cheers fellas 🔥🍻
I was just ab to head to my girls house but I got 2,022 handies waiting at the house....
And one of them is from paulo costa and luke rockhold!

New year, new me.
I still despise the nature of your mission and simultaneously admire your commitment. Much like the real john mckane.

2 people afraid to engage and be a loser?
