8:14 If it's a sticky residue, using the eraser, especially the leftover self-stick one (such as MONO dust catch) to remove it, it works pretty well on hard surface!
This was super cool! One thing I noticed is if you had printed the clamshell horizontally the keyring hole would have been much stronger because each layer would have a full ring of filament.
Or it could’ve just been a bumper that lined the outside of the key fob printed horizontally. Stronger ring, quicker to print, no supports needed and less filament/glue needed and would have ended with a cleaner and thinner end product

I really appreciate such service being promoted in such a way. I honestly think this is the future of manufacturing/repairability of things. We need to start repairing thing. And you are part of this amazing change. Repairing should be our first aim, most fore than recycling. As it is theoretically more efficient.
if you want to design a clam shell where you only need to do one half design and print it twice, and make it so it has slots that fit together then if you put a recess on one half of the edges and a tab on the other half, and set tolerances for a little gap between them, then you can print the same thing twice and it will mirror against itself. obviously its hard to describe in words, but like with the key fob, if you took the face that was going to be glued and split in down the middle (you have to split it in a line of rotational symmetry), then on one side if you take the outside edge line and use that to create an offset line thats half the thickness of the walls (+0.1mm for tolerances for it fitting together), then use the inner section created by that offset to extrude a tab , and then on the other half do the same but if you cut extrude a recess thats slightly deeper than how far you extruded the tab. Then when you print two of them the slots and tabs will be flipped when facing each other and so they will slot together and then you get both a keyed surface that locks together and hold the two halves perfectly in place, you also get a way to much more cleanly glue the two halves together. So clean you might not even be able to see the join.
After adding epoxy, how will you remove the keyfob clam shell if you need to change the battery? I probably would have just removed the old clam shell and created a new one that has a screw holding the halves together. Thanks for sharing the video.

I've bought a 3D printer a while ago but it unfortunately collected dust for a few months until I finally went on vacation. For the last 2 weeks I've been rapid-prototyping enclosures for a hardware project in Fusion 360. I'm realizing this is an exceptional skill to have and I have so much fun learning it. The most creative I've been in a long time.
I love these videos! Wholesomeness level probably over 9000. You should do this regularly. It's actually a great way to learn pragmatic problem solving as you only have limited time per "customer". So you can't spend hours designing something super perfect but have to come up with something simple on teh spot. I tend to overthink problems sometimes.
please please PLEASE do this again. Its so much better to watch than the usual clickbait junk. Its such a good mantra to have of repairing, not throwing away. hopefully my ender 3 pro is arriving soon so Im looking to get into the 3d printing world
Super cool video and idea! I have a E3D tool changer and will often use PLA as support material if I am printing in PETG (and vice versa) because they do not bond together well whatsoever. So the overhangs/contact surface between the part and supports are beautiful. Perhaps there are better materials, but the build plate temperatures are close enough to make it work.
Liked before the video began, was not disappointed. This format is very fun to watch, massively rewarding for yourselves and the customers, it’s educational and I would go as far as to say, potentially inspirational to those who want to get out and help more. Looking forward to watching more!

This is a really fun series that I hope you keep up. At the very least its good that we get some resolution to the pink filament story. I like the style choices you have been making in your recent videos, and judging by your channel growth I am not the only one.
Good job sharing the hobby! Tip for the keychain next time. flip it over so the letters are directly on the build surface and flush with the body. make the letters only 0.6mm deep (inset into the body). This lets you get away with only 6 filament changes at 0.2mm layer height. less at 0.3 or 0.4. Set the filament changes in slicer and enjoy the end result. for an even nicer finish do it on a textured surface.
Outstanding Job. May I suggest if you do this more often and print times become an issue you use your 3d printer print the Voron 0.1 parts and build that Voron for your portable printer. Much Much faster which would cut down the print times for you. Less wait time for customers.

What you need is a giant walk in van with its own power source. It should have an awning on one side. Big enough for your equipment and supplies. That way you could drive it around, do the repairs and take the whole shebang back home. Kind of a traveling carnival/fixit/tinkerer van. Dream big.
when I saw the heart, I already thought that this won't go well. Though PETG or PLA can be used as low cost support material, when you have a multimaterial printer and like to have easy to clean support structures :)
PLA and PETG are great support material for each other if you have a MMU. Setting like soluble support material. prints like on the print bed. Nice Event !
11:00 I probably would have substituted the epoxy for hot glue so the clamshell could still come apart if needs be (especially if it fails due to weak signal).
Agreed, the epoxy seemed a bit too permanent for the application. A press fit / snap together clamshell with some foam or light adhesive to prevent rattling was what I thought of.

Just a suggestion for the clamshell one - instead of gluing it together, make it have tabs to lock it together. That way you can pop it back off if needed without destroying it.
I wish I had seen this earlier, and even lived near TO. I actually broke my Titan extruder for my UM2, and needed a part printed for it. LOL, however, I managed to clamp the extruder in sme vice grips, and print out a titan body. Nice vid!

To remove sticker residue or tape residue you need to use turpentine. This will work much better than alcohol. And when you buy that try to buy the one that has less smell to it. The one they removed the aroma from. or at least most of it.

Awesome stuff! Very cool of you to do this. Incase you have not had the chance to try PETG and TPU... They seem to bond well. I made ducts for drone propellers with PETG on the top and bottom to keep the shape rigid. Cool channel and content Subscribed!
@@laiebi_3639 How is PETG less Rigid than PLA? Am I missing something? I almost never use PLA because of its lack of strength and it's low resistance to warping in a higher temp environment.
@@Main_Drain stiffness of petg is lower than pla, so if you want to print sth thin, pla will deflect a lot less than petg on the same load. Temperature and chemical resistance is worse I agree, was just stating stiffness/rigidity.
Kudos for that lady for keeping the broken piece. Rule #1: Don't throw any of the broken parts away, if there is a slightest chance of item being repaired. Little bit of cleaning and some good epoxy can do wonders.

10:18 Don't worry about getting epoxy in the hole. You can drill that out later. You also strengthen the hole this way even more.

One of the best parts of 3d printing is that you can make designs that snap together and hold secure. I am afraid to epoxy things like that.
I think you need a Prusa mini with klipper or a voron 0.1 for faster smaller things

With the key fob case, you should of made it so it screws together. Incase of replacement or repair.

Kudos for that lady for keeping the broken piece. Rule #1: Don't throw any of the broken parts away, if there is a slightest chance of item being repaired. Little bit of cleaning and some good epoxy can do wonders.
