I have made this without the real crab in the sauce and actually like it better without it. Ingredients: no bake lasagne noodles 1 pound shrimp or prawns 1 pound scallops 8 ounces of imitation crab 2 shallots 2 garlic cloves or more 1/2 red bell pepper 1/3 cup vermouth or white wine or water 3 Tablespoons butter 2 and 1/2 Tablespoons all purpose flour 3 cups milk 1/2 cup parmesan or romano 6 to 8 ounces mozzarella parsley, fresh or dried salt/pepper Heat your pan over medium to medium high heat and add 2 Tablespoons oil of your choice. Cook scallops for 3 minutes or until they release from the pan, remove Cook shrimp for 2 minutes, then remove from pan. Turn your pan down to medium low and add your butter, shallots, red bell pepper and garlic. Cook for 3 minutes then add your vermouth and cook till it is almost gone. Add your all purpose flour, cook 2 minutes. Add your 3 cups of milk and make a thin gravy. Cool a bit and add your parmesan or romano, then taste for salt and pepper. Wow that looks amazing! I can practically smell the lovely aromas despite aromavision not yet existing! Your family is lucky to have you cooking them delicious food all the time.

I bought fish stock and heated the tales of the shrimp I bought with some butter. You can mix a bit of that in when the sauce starts to thicken out. It adds an amazing taste to the sauce which I recommend doubling the portion since I like my lasagna very saucy. I can’t wait to have seconds tonight.
Thanks for sharing this delicious-looking recipe and the printed instructions. I will have to double the amounts for my family, but can't wait to try this.

Yes, dear friend, it is. So far out into the countryside that we can't even get mail, Fed-Ex or UPS here. Century old apple orchards, never sprayed, organic gardens, ducks, chickens, goats, kitties and our rescued Australian Shepherd. So peaceful, quiet, beautiful and well, you are so welcome!

You are going to be eating good tonight! This is a favorite of my family Lischelle! Be sure to rinse each scallop very well too get all the invisible sand off of them. There is a kinda new grocery store a bit of a drive for me that is called Fresh Thyme. They have awesome seafood sales there for a GREAT price. Aldi Grocery store is a good place for scallops as well, if you have those around you. I am jelly that you are having this! Much love! ~Michael

I will, absolutely. :) By the way, does that Chicken of the Sea crabmeat really look that way in person? I have no experience with blue swimming crab; the stuff we get locally looks (in color, anyway) more like the fake crab you used.
+Cornelius Sneed Yes it is the way it is and looks. I have always never really been happy with any crab that I have purchased. When I was a kid we would go to Florida and catch crabs using chicken necks on a string. That was some good crab.
@@MichaelsHomeCooking Hi! I thought I was subbed, because I've watched other vids of yours... but I wasn't. I just subbed for sure now. Looking for seafood lasagna for breakfast now 😀
i must try this one to ,the last one with onions and spinach you made have become the number one lasagna at my house it is just so delicate and fresh and way better than the orignal with meat and tomato sauce :)
+wildheart5 I have made this for the Wednesday Meal. Every Wednesday all the family gets together at Dad's house. Everybody really likes it. We take turns cooking, and also split the cooking up like a planned pot luck.
Oh man, that looks good and I love the way you can adjust the cheeses to reduce the calories! Hand me a napkin please - I seem to have drooled on my keyboard! :D Really nice. Thank you.
Thank you Liz! You and I are in the same boat I think! Lovers of seafood and fish! I do think the overfishing warnings are true and that in future years prices could go up dramatically with seafood. I found frozen halibut at walmart but it is either 20 or 25 per pound there. I am not all that impressed with some salmon producers with the way they farm the fish either. I could go on and on about these things. Thank you for watching Liz. The crab that I bought for this was sub par, I should have left it out.
+zolar55 Well personally I would love to use oysters, but so many people frown at oysters. Crayfish would be another option. You could also just leave that layer out. Thank you for your question! ~Michael
orange meat is caused by an excess of a natural pigment called zeaxanthin in a female scallop. As the gonad ripens and takes on an orange hue, any overabundance of this pigment is transported into the adductor muscle [the part of the scallop we eat]. Meat quality or taste is not affected, and some markets may prefer this color variation
This looks just great, and something I've never considered. I like the use of different cheeses - the romano for its tang and the mozarella for its heady chewy meatiness. I like that you added 'fake' crab.. it is sweet, but I think that's the perfect compliment. I agree, some cayenne or some red pepper flakes would be great. Tarragon or basil would be nice. Tthere are so manyways you could take this... (Clams, oysters, chunks of nice firm fleshed fish, like cod or halibut, catfish even.)
I haven't yet, but I've just watched this for the 2nd (3rd?) time, AND I've been trying to clean out my freezer. I have some scallops, tilapia, and shrimp. Also got the lasagna noodles. I'm going to give it a go! I'm really afraid that if I do, my girlfriend will ask for this EVERY single week! There went my food budget!
You will enjoy this and your girlfriend will realize you cannot make this just anytime. She will love you long time! I tell you what, if you go to your channel and fill out some information, especially writing something in your 'About" section.... I will send you a coffee mug. You do not have to do it all up like my channel page is, just do something with it and include something about you on the "about" tab/section. Deal?
You mentioned you didn't care for the quality of the real crab in the sauce and liked it better without it. As an option to a more expensive lump crabmeat, what would you think of adding some bottled clam juice to the sauce to up the seafood flavor instead of the last 1/2 c of milk? Or would that make the sauce too runny?
I have never been happy with crab that you buy in the midwest. It is so expensive and I think the quality suffers. I would make this without the crab and use fake Krab for it's sweetness and tenderness. So now I make this without the real crab in the sauce and use fake Krab as I do the scallops etc. Thank you for your question! ~michael
I will definitely try your version. It looks absolutely delicious. Question, can I use half and half instead of the milk? Oh, it’s just me so can I freeze this?
Yes absolutely you can use 1/2 and 1/2 or even cream if you wish. I have never frozen this, not sure what to say about that. If you want to try freezing this... I would suggest making this in two meatloaf pans, splitting it in half. Freeze one of those before baking it. Defrost later for at least 24 hours in the fridge, then bake. That is how I would try it. The meatloaf pans would be about half the size of and 8 X 8 pan. I would put plastic wrap directly over the mixture in the pan and wrap with aluminum foil and use it within two months. It might turn out watery though. Thank you for your question! ~michael
@@MichaelsHomeCooking Thank you so much for replying. I will purchase the the meatloaf pans and do as you say. Also, afterwards, I will let you know how it all turned out. Peace and Blessings.
Quick question, this looks very good. However what prevents your shrimp and scallops from being overcooked if you cook them first on the stovetop and them bake them in the oven for 55 mins? Would it be better to leave them raw and let them cook during cooking time in the oven? Or use the lasagna noodles that require boiling first so the cooking time in the oven is less? Im asking because I want to make this dish. Please let me know. Seafood is not my specialty and irs usually expensive in my area so what clarification so I dont goof up the recipe.
It is best to cook the seafood. When in the oven you are basically heating the dish up till it bubbles... The seafood would not cook while you are heating it all up in the oven till it bubbles and the cheese gets a few brown spots. Thank you for your question! ~michael
I have never seen a pink scallop like that. Is it a different variety? Does it taste different? Nice recipe. I do like fake crab. Some people make fun of it, but it tastes great and is a great value.
Yes, you did say teaspoons. I made a video a couple days ago and throughout the video I called a carrot an onion. I didn't even catch it until I was editing. I could dub over but won't bother. This looks great. I know I'd like it.
+Marc Perroquet We all make mistakes in making these videos :) One time I said mushrooms when they were olives. Makes for a lot of comments that you do not desire. ~Michael :)

Thank you, thank you very much Emily!
Thank you for your great compliment Michael!
Great "winter"' dish!
(I assume you're plumb out of that coffee cup by now after a year! Ha!) ;)
Have you made this and tried it yet?
Deal?
looks delish!!☆☆

@@MichaelsHomeCooking Thank you so much for replying. I will purchase the the meatloaf pans and do as you say. Also, afterwards, I will let you know how it all turned out. Peace and Blessings.
I made this lasagna and it was so ooooooooooo good😊

Sure do hate to see winter go with a great comfort food like this. ~Monica

I made the zucchini lasagna.it was so good😊
Excellent!
Looks amazing... What idiots gave this a thumbs down smh
Thank you! Um probably jealous people.

I have never seen a pink scallop like that. Is it a different variety? Does it taste different? Nice recipe. I do like fake crab. Some people make fun of it, but it tastes great and is a great value.
+Nannerchan It tastes the same, I guess some scallops think they are special or something :)
~Michael
I like to use a garlic, powder or chopped, as a salt replacement .... Great either way !!
Yes, you did say teaspoons. I made a video a couple days ago and throughout the video I called a carrot an onion. I didn't even catch it until I was editing. I could dub over but won't bother. This looks great. I know I'd like it.
+Marc Perroquet We all make mistakes in making these videos :)
One time I said mushrooms when they were olives. Makes for a lot of comments that you do not desire.
~Michael :)
LOL, I have often said marshmallows when I meant mushrooms.
Nice!!
Thanks!!
