      My wife likes guns. She liked my AR-10 so much that its now "Her AR-10." I don't mind as much because I have another one. But my stepson like that one, so will likely take it in a few years when he's 18. That mean eventually, I'll need another AR-10. Its too bad it means I'll need to buy another rifle....

      My wife loves guns. (I say she married me for the guns) Be careful what you wish for. It means you have to buy, at least, 50% more guns and 100% more ammunition.
      On the other hand, she never has an issue with me buying guns or ammunition. She has "acquired" several of my guns as "hers" and I actually have bought duplicates of some...otherwise I'd never get to shoot them! 😏

    So I bought my wife a Springfield saint railed model about a year ago. She's never fired it and I'm hoping to get in a class with her. The other day I bought a Midwest URR to do a little gauging like shown here. The reaction rod won't even start to insert into the locking lugs. Bolt seems to cycle fine and it chambers a round. I guess contact Springfield? But man am I appreciative of the things I learn here. Thank you for the knowledge and your wife for excellent camera work.

    • @jacksonblanks8038
      @jacksonblanks8038 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds like a clocked barrel to me, happens when there is enough slop between the barrel extension and upper receiver when being installed. check again with the assembled BCG and slowly push it into battery. if i am right it should hit slightly then the bolt will start to rotate then continue into the barrel extension and lock. if you have the tools i would just undo the barrel nut and re-align the assembly then with your reaction rod installed then tighten the barrel. if that does not seem to be in your wheelhouse then send it in.

    • @take1one
      @take1one 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacksonblanks8038 thanks. Never put a upper together but have been assembling all the tools necessary. From what I'm hearing Springfield is not doing such a bang up job lately and I prefer to fix things myself anyway.

    Great gift for Mrs. A - I think she likes it! Nice reward for a “gun gal” doing a great job on the camera that showcases your talent and dedication to these rifles. A simple machine that requires the attention to details that can make the sum of those details an amazing firearm. I love mine and would like to see some content that goes in depth the way you have with the AR15’s. That said, it’s understood with the gauging and tooling investment why you might not. Yes, I saw the Forgotten Weapons interview. They have discontinued several of their retro items but are continuing with others. Unfortunately, on the discontinued items they are not producing any spares for some of the proprietary parts for many Retro models. This isn’t necessarily a problem with the 5.56 rifles but will be an issue for anyone who purchased the BRN-10 in 7.62. Which I find curious, they paid to have tooling, molds and the like made for all of these retro style parts but then discontinue them. How do you get a return on investment by doing that.

    • @cdecro00
      @cdecro00 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There was an interview with (I think it was) Paul Levy with forgotten weapons. He spoke in length about the project. From what I recall- it sounds like if they can still get the parts they are going to try to keep them available. Check it out it was a good interview anyways, may be some answers in there for you.

    • @Veritas419
      @Veritas419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cdecro00 I saw that interview, he said they would continue to make spares of the 5.56 rifles. In that same interview he announced that they discontinued the BRN-10 and the Proto in 5.56 despite the fact both items are on the website. They still have some BRN-10 parts on their site as of December 23, 2020 but there are no bolt carriers, pistol grips, and only black hand guards. They also were going to make Portuguese hand guards, and a carbine model. They abandoned both of those projects and dumped the parts they had made on their site with no comment. My issue is that they discontinued these products, didn’t follow through on the Portuguese model (which was the one customers actually wanted) without mentioning it on any of THEIR social media platforms, I think that is just bad practice.
