Yeah, not gonna lie, just the fact that his parents actually stand up and *do something* when he starts acting out is satisfying. I'm glad the writers have realized the main problem with the original show.
In terms of the two bluey episodes, they may be the worst in the series, but they still do a fantastic job in the end for both parents and kids. They don't shy away from the fact that kids sometimes act bratty, but its shown in a way with the understanding that kids don't act like this out of malicious intent but rather they're just very young & haven't learned yet
I haven’t seen every post-S1 Bluey episode but I can tell you Kids is my least favorite S1 episode, it brings back memories of me being mean to others, actions I now regret big time! I hear Obstacle Course is a bad post-S1 episode but at least the Paddington reboot did a better job of the premise with Paddington and The Summer Games!
I feel like kids watching are too young to understand and will learn the wrong lessons from the episode and start emulating how the shrill kid was acting.
It’s amazing to see the lowest rated episodes of Bluey are still higher than 7 stars. That just shows how much this show is admired. And fun fact, Bluey is tied up with Breaking Bad as the absolute highest rated media overall in IMDB, with 9.5 stars. I’m surprised to see what a legend this cartoon became.
I think that the worst Bluey episode in my opinion is “Obstacle Course”, an episode where Bandit, a beloved fiction character is turned into the competitive bragger type who becomes so envious of his child to the point where he cheats his way to win against Bluey
In my opinion the worst episode is "Squash" for similar reasons, Bandit is less mature than his 6 year old daughter and very clearly makes Bingo feel worse by rubbing in that big siblings always beat little siblings. And Stripe only winning because Bluey, the big sibling, makes Bandit lose, removes all the catharsis from the victory. It just annoys me the whole way through, but I know not many people would agree with me about it.
I have to admire your subtle jabs at the overall fact that shows like Paw Patrol were made to sell toys. Here in the US, you can hardly walk around a Walmart without seeing the super-powered pups and kitties.
Not surprising, considering that it was literally made to sell toys. Not an ounce of educational content in the few episodes I was forced to watch while staying with my cousins.
Paw Patrol is just like Alot of the Cartoons in the 80's where designed in a way to try and sell Toys even in the 90's and 00's they all had there share of Cartoons designed to sell toys. in the 80's You probably couldn't walk through the toy section without Seeing Gi Joe, Transformers, Star wars, My little pony and Strawberry shortcake.
The reason Thomas' voice sounds different is because in the US and here in the UK, we had two different voice actors, hope that clears things up Strider. 👍
I love that ‘batteries not included each sold separately’. I live in the UK and constantly have to watch ads with those lines so many times. It brings me back to my childhood.
My head-canon is that in 'Charades' Muffin was so insisting about being a ballerina because she wanted to let Socks guess one time and she knew that 'BALLERINA' was one of the few words her sister could say without problem. With that said, yeah she was a total brat in the way she asked it.
Bluey is such a good show that I find myself smiling whenever I tune into an episode as even though it is for little kids it is amazing and has some sweet moments.
Over here in the UK, every voice in Paw Patrol is re-dubbed to be British and have the right pronunciations of words. Some episode titles are even different and it even applies to the two films.
My favorite episode of Bluey is Camping. I love the message and the ending is so sweet. I will admit seeing Bluey cry initially after Jean-Luc leaves definitely made me cry. Poor Bluey. Thankfully they do reunite in the future as teens as shown at the end of the episode. I really hope they actually do bring Jean-Luc back because he and Bluey have such great chemistry and despite the language barrier between them they were fast friends. If I didn’t already know Chloe was Bluey’s best friend, I would’ve guessed she and Jean-Luc were best friends.❤
I LOVE your idea for an Australian animal children's cartoon. Especially the idea of having one of the animals be on the spectrum but also have them be a character and NOT a stereotype like every other autistic character in a children's (and even adult) show is. As an autistic person, you have no idea how much that would be appreciated.
I wonder about Julia from Sesame Street though. I thought the portrayal, at least initially, was good. That and also they chose to make the character a girl, since autism is stereotyped to be a male/masculine phenomenon. But of course Sesame Workshop partnered with Autism Speaks and they understandably lost a lot of goodwill they once had.
My worst nitpick with Paw Patrol is that every new season, they run out of ideas, so they just make it so the pups can randomly do something. Whenever they need new ideas, they introduce new machines or abilities.
I only really watch it because of the animation voice acting is fine but the story lines is sh*t. movies that are okay but the TV shows I'm sorry I got to say this I feel like they giving up and only keep this show due two reasons one it's popular for kids and two due to their toys the only reason why I still keep watching it I just want to get it over with and also I just want to get the show over where I haven't even watched it in like years I think the last time I saw Paw Patrol was in 2022.
I mean, its the same for Winx Club. Ever since Nick got rights for the show, ever since S6 the plots are very more simplistic and the main characters mostly have the same abilities with different forms. S7 with Butterflix is by far one of the worst ones because of how terrible it is. I’m pretty sure the show is now shown on Nick Jr instead of the main channel because the writers are literally the same ones for toddler shows like Blues Clues or Dora the Explorer. At least with shows like Paw Patrol and the other ones here, they’re meant to be slice of life and not the characters growing up or becoming adults. Several tv shows stray from letting kid characters grow up and they only have a handful of episodes where they show a futuristic version where the kid is an adult and is either married with kids or has a career
@@kristinahuchison2511None of Winx club is terrible, how dare you. Yes I’ve seen all 8 seasons, but I realize you are entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to mine.
@@grimphantom99insaneenderma85 what kind of raw broccoli have you had? All the raw broccoli I’ve had was terrible. Frankly I’m a lil jealous of you lol
As "bad" as the 2-3 mentioned Bluey episodes are, they are still better than 99% of the best episodes of the other series.. Yes single adult childless fan of Bluey here. Mid 40s. Just a fun cute show with lots of heart and humor. Also beautiful subtle storytelling with ones like Sleepytime or the parents building the porch swing (packaway?)
As a hardcore bluey fan, ill have to say that the worst episode imo is Obstacle Course. I feel like Bandit is out of character for this. In the episode Yoga Ball, he was written in the way that Obstacle Course should have written Bandit. In Yoga Ball, he didn't realize his strength or how he was making Bingo feel. He didn't realize and when he's confronted, he immediately steps in to make her feel better and to establish boundaries involving playing and making sure Bingo's limits. Thats Bandit at his strongest. But then theres Obstacle Course where he purposly makes Bluey loose in a friendly competition. But then again, this is the most realistic kids show *ever*, and outside that episode, Bandit is the best father in animation history. So its forgiveable that Bandit does end up having an off day cause real parents occasionally have an off day.
Love to see these 'best/worst modern episodes' lists come out of all the different cartoon review channels every start-of-the-year, even if I personally prefer cartoons from the 90's/2000's. It's cool to see what's going on nowadays sometime now-and-then. Your cartoon lists are still awesome, Strider! I love watching them even if we don't agree 100% on everything(especially our opposite opinions on Ed Edd n' Eddy and Problem Solverz, if that difference wasn't already obvious from my channel's whole identity already). Happy to be on-time here to see!

The fact that Bluey only has 2-3 less than great episodes because of some characters that act like spoiled brats and, even then, still getting a 7/10, at least, just goes to show how impressive of a show this is! I’m sure you must be overwhelmingly proud at how much of a legend this show made by your home country has become, Strider! 😊
Is the bluey episode Tina really more hated than charades? I thought tina was a great episode, as it shows how parents need to be careful on how they communicate with their children about having authority over them, and it shows kids the consequences that can come from not listening to your parents.
Oh no. It has a good message that it was covered in the video for both kids and parents can learn. It's just what led to the message was the problem, Tina.
Do people hate charades? I mean muffin is like two, toddlers are going to act like that, and it has nice moments and bluey and bingo learn that sometimes you have to take care of younger kids.
@@astrowolvez Many hate Charades over my favorite character, Muffin, because she's bratty. On the inside, Muffin is a loving, caring character for example holding Socks' popsicle in the same episode but on the outside, she's mostly bratty. As the older brother of a brother, I can relate to her a ton
Here's something I THINK the writers behind shows for little kids have to deal with: One aspect that we will always like regardless of age is character development. We love seeing our favorite characters fail, learn from their mistakes, and rise better than before. It's a basic formula that works because we can relate to those characters. That's because we also learn from mistakes and grow and tend to go where we feel familiar. However, this has its limits. If a character tends to mess up with really easy stuff, it can become annoying and we can only see an incompetent that we want to disassociate from as much as possible. Now here's a problem. Although little kids are capable of learning, they have to learn stuff that, for us, might be harder to understand why they aren't able to figure it out. And here's where kids' shows struggle with the perception of adult viewers: the shows for little kids have to show characters making mistakes we as adults find idiotic for kids to understand why the stuff the characters are doing is bad. It teaches about bad stuff and shows examples of what could happen. Usually, kids can swallow idiotic moments from the characters because they can't grasp the full picture of why things are dumb. So the writers are put into a corner since they can't upset the parents, but they can not not be teach kids about life.
@@Robohead-z6z it's not the fact kids need to be taught that people find annoying. We understand that kids need to be taught simple things. My point was that watching a show about people learning stuff we find really basic might either get boring or get annoyed by the characters. That's why we usually don't find most shows made for younger kids entertaining.
With the Tina episode. They remade the message in a later episode show and tell . From what I’ve heard Joe Brum didn’t like how Tina turned out out so they redid the entire episode all over. But at this point we probably need a Tina vs Show and tell video going over the pro and cons of each episode
I wouldn't blame Michael though. He probably read the script of the episode, and he's like " alright I'll narrate this episode, but I'm not going to be in a happy mood"
I've actually always wanted you to talk about an episode of "PAW Patrol" on your channel, and I don't think I realized how poorly written that "Pups Save Bedtime" felt. You know, the "PAW Patrol" episode that I thought was the worst one they ever did was "Pups Save A Toof". It's basically where the pups have to self-torture with what they're scared of all because a little kid named Alex didn't want to go to the dentist. "Pups Save Bedtime" at least didn't teach children to hurt themselves all because of a whiny kid who was being stubborn. Not to mention "Pups Save A Toof" was a Season 1 episode! Season 1 where every episode was tame and calm and weren't going crazy with ridiculous plot lines.
The reason why up up and away and wonky whistle is so mind numbing with it’s dialogue is because the writer for those seasons was Sharon Miller who did a lot of that type of writing which was commonly referred to in the ttte community as the three strike formula
Why the heck is there even a Caillou reboot anyway? I mean with Thomas I understand because of how beloved he is, but Caillou is just about one of the most hated kids' cartoons ever! Why the heck does he have a reboot when the CREATOR OF CAILLOU even realized why his show was a bad idea?
Thank you so much for making it clear that CGI Thomas isn’t all bad! There are so many hidden gems that seem to only be appreciated by the fans, and it pains me every time someone jumps to conclusions and says “CGI Thomas was always bad”. If anyone wants to watch CGI Thomas, I recommend seasons 17-21.
To be fair, for the longest time from 2009 to 2012, CGI Thomas did suck. Barring HOTR & BMM - the two of which were positively received. But it wasn't until S17 when the episodes became mostly decent, and for another couple until the animation actually became charming and pretty. But MATTEL never bothered to advertise the improved writing and dialogue of S17-S21 and absolutely squandered marketing opportunities when they had Eddie Redmayne, Olivia Coleman & Hugh Bonneville as voice actors in the show.
Still hoping you can do "10 toys that hit the uncanny valley" so that Furbies can be mentioned once again! As said, in the last list you put furbies in, you mentioned how they were "fnaf look-alikes", but you can really get into how there IS a creepy game based off of Furbies!
For me, it was this Macarena teddy bear from the 90’s. That guy’s moving mouth and “uncanny” performance of the Macarena made me hate the song for a while, and when it’s not being used… it just sits in the laundry room shelf, menacingly. On the bright side, it didn’t take too long for me to learn to enjoy the song (and how to dance the popular Macarena dance).
I personally adore Charades and may be an exception on this one, but I found the episode extremely entertaining, discussing with a friend we came to a marvelous conclusion I have to agree on, and that honestly makes the experience be granted by giving it a different perception: He stated... "For starters, we see Muffin already supporting her little sister by holding her ice block for her at the beginning of the episode. So it shows her being conscientious of Socks. Then, when the girls start playing charades, we see that Socks is having trouble guessing the answers. She’s then disappointed because she’s having trouble playing the game, and we see her whine and look sad. Look at Muffin’s body language at that point, right before it’s her turn. She’s looking directly at Socks after she whines. And there’s a clear pause before Muffin gets up to begin her turn. We can argue here that Muffin’s actions were her wanting to make the game easier so Socks could correctly guess the answer, so because of that, she asked for a card that had already been played so Socks would have already had that word in her head and she could think of it better. And, remember, Muffin is only three in this episode, so she likely wouldn’t have the ability to fully articulate to Nana and the others that she intended to help Socks play the game. I like imagining the episode as a double parallel. Nana, Bluey, and Bingo help accommodate Muffin, and Muffin is helping Socks play the game and being a good older sister." “Because we have to take care of the littles.” I agree with his statement, the episode makes Muffin be perceived as a bratty, unreasonable mutt who gets whatever she wants by screeching for it... but, considering this perspective, was that her true intention? She was very hesitant about the ballerina card, but was it for her simple selfish intentions... or to give a helping hand to her sister she is been supporting since the beginning? I'd state by her young age that's partially true... But openly wanting to specifically reenact the ballerina card was rather a desire by her whim than a helping hand for her sis It's a very nice interpretation, but it might be a mixed-purpose handling; she wanted to do the card by her interest but she also wanted to help her sister at the same time, a win-win taking into account she truly never fully understood the game, so she would want to make the game easier for both... (again by her young age and poor understanding for the game, she was just three at the moment). Additionally, the humor (mostly by Bingo's take), Muffin's adorable dance, Nana's speech about her grandma, and the overall family bonding vibe... I'm a minority, but it's actually among my favorite episodes My pick for the "WORST" episode (note the quotation marks) is Fairies; started strong with a captivating conflict but the pacing then becomes messy and convoluted, the tone feels oddly mean-spirited for a show like this and the ending is confusing... Then again, I couldn't call it a bad episode and personally, this show managed to succeed in not delivering a single episode I find appalling or even skippable, I find enjoyment in every single one which is an unpopular opinion in its own right... I'm truly THAT enamored with the show but that's just me Isn't this show a masterpiece? It truly is, and we need it more than ever, for real life.
"Up, Up, and Away!" was poked fun at twice in later episodes of Thomas; in "Tale of the Brave", Thomas jokingly asks Percy if he's going to take a giant balloon on a flatbed, and in "Dowager Hatt's Busy Day" (which is one giant take that to the Sharon Miller era), one of the jobs that Dowager Hatt gives James is carrying a giant balloon on a flatbed. Neil Ben is ashamed of "Wonky Whistle", to the point where he apologized for it in the Engine Inspector's review of it. He said that while he was amazed that he was recognized for it, he still finds it a real shame since the script he wrote looked very different from the final product, and he has done some pretty good things in his career before and since. I definitely would like to see a "Worst Thomas Episodes" video from you. There are plenty from the Sharon Miller and Big World! Big Adventures! eras in particular.
I'm so happy that you're talking about Bluey! It's a really wholesome show for all ages. I like that you talked about the authoritative and authoritarian parenting in the show. I saw the episode "Tina" myself and while I do agree that it's not a good episode, the message at the end helps kids understand why it's best to be told what to do.
23:42 French here, and I do have that kind of voice myself. I personally find the more stereotypical exaggerated accent pretty funny, but the way that show did it isn't even a good attempt at that. And I agree with what you say about the show itself too; I've seen quite a bit of Paw Patrol in its early years out of nothing-else-to-watch for cartoons back when I had cable, and honestly, it's pretty much a modern equivalent of those "half-hour toy commercial" cartoons that were notoriously everywhere in the 80's. They just kinda get away with it, because technically the show came before the toys instead of visa-versa like those did.
Unluckytug's done a list of those specials from worst to best and there was another TH-camr to ranked the worst and best classic episodes. @@josecrane4132
Really don't mind "Charades" because I love Muffin. She's just an energetic ball, and she has some of the funniest bits in the show. I also love the message that we have to be more accommodating to people who are younger than us or have different disabilities. Even though she's the "bratty kid" character, the writers put a ton of effort in humanizing her.
One thing people miss about Muffin is that while she is bratty and very demanding in this episode, you can also see that she is trying to help her little sister. You can see her holding Sock's Ice Block, and her entire tantrum was so that Socks could get the right answer. That being said I respect that Muffin triggers many people. Especially because we have all dealt with entitled adults and entitled adults come from entitled children.
The only Bluey episode I have a problem with is Show and Tell. They retaught the moral they already used in Tina, even recalling that episode, because both Bluey AND Bingo forgot, which understandably disappointed Bandit. Apparently it was a way to teach parents that whenever they teach their kids lessons, they need to use simple words and short sentences.
It's a testament to Bluey's good writing that it only has three bad episodes and they're still not THAT abysmal. On another note, one thing that I was and still am kinda worried about in connection with this show is that it shows cute dogs and I'm scared that like other shows and movies of such nature it may lead to people irresponsibly buying heelers and then discovering that, as any breed of dog they have spefcific needs that don't always jive with people's livestyles. and then the shelters end up over crowded with pups people don't want/can't take care of. This ofc is not a shot at the show itself, because it's responsibilty of the people deciding on a pet to familiarize itself with it's needs, but it still always hurts my soul to know that it's an unintended, unfortunate byproduct of animals in shows and movies.
4:09 I think the major question with this Thomas episode is... why the heck are they transporting the balloons already FULLY-INFLATED and insecurely tied down?? Why not put the three balloons together in a little box, along with the helium cannister, and then inflate them AFTER they're safely delivered? LOGIC!! What do they teach in schools these days?
I've only seen a few episodes of Bluey, mostly because I'm an adult without kids, but what I have seen seems warm, sweet, and caring as a show. I can see why it's so loved and why it even has adult fans. The one I liked the most of what I saw Bluey and her family are camping out in the bush and Bluey meets a French pup. They don't speak each other's language, but get along and have fun, and Bluey is crestfallen when he ends up leaving. They move ahead in time when she's a teen or adult and she sees him again.
i seriously cannot bring myself to hate caillou’s new adventures’ ‘no desert!’ because even though caillou went back to being a little shit all over again, caillou’s parents actually waking up and grounding him for the first time ever was the hardest i’ve laughed and cheered and the most satisfied i’ve been in years! it was simply a triumph! 👏👏 it’s almost like the creators learnt a thing or two from all of those goanimate videos from several years back.
As someone who just got caught up with Bluey just recently I have to say that yes I do hate Charades, as someone who was a demanding spoiled child back in my childhood, I feel very embarrassed at Muffin because she reminds me of me and I know that life won’t just give you everything you want. As for Tina, nah I actually liked that episode, sure Bluey and Bingo are selfish but it’s far from what Charades did and the lesson at the end was well conveyed and I did find Bandit and Chile’s acting to be entertaining in its own right.
I do recommend you make a top 10 worst Thomas episodes list. There's quite a good amount of bad episodes in some of the seasons, and they're worth taking a look at.
I would love to see it too I mean there are so many episodes you can choose from both the model series and the CGI so I would also like to see him talk about some of the better CGI episodes because they don't get talked about a lot and they have some really good morals in some of them
Seasons 12-16 of Thomas were the perfect example of what Wilbert Awdry hated. Writing something that talks down to kids like their mindless morons. There’s a reason why both kids and adults love Thomas, because not only does it respect kids, but it has that charm that gets adults focused. This was something those seasons lacked.
6:01 only Percy was like that, Thomas told Percy too race after the big balloon, and after Percy objects, the narrator says that Thomas wasn’t sure, he only reluctantly agreed too it so that he "wouldn’t up set his best friend". It’s the same with the tunnel as well
I've got to say, finding your channel a few years ago was one of the best things to happen. I don't feel as awkward anymore being in my mid 30s watching cartoons for various young age Thank you
As a fan of Bluey, I actually don't think Tina and Charades are the worst episodes, I think there's another few contenders out there. For my worst episode? Sticky Gecko. I actually skip this episode/change the channel when that specific episode comes on.
Wow! Phantomstrider is talking about Bluey now? That's amazing! I wonder what his thoughts on Bluey are plus what could be the worst episode of Bluey?🤩🤔
Bluey is proof that we can make a little kids show that isn’t cringe Charades is the worst of the series which is an EXTREMELY HIGH BAR cause the show is amazing
I wouldn't say that episode is awful tho since I don't think there are really bad episodes of Bluey. I know Muffin can be a brat but I don't think she's anywhere NEAR as annoyingly bratty as Caillou.
The reason Thomas didn't sound like that before is because they were all voiced by the same narrator. Unlike these seasons, where their voiced by individual people, and this was the first voice cast. Some of them did change over time. Check out some of the seasons 17-21, and you'll see what I mean.
Also, another thing to keep in mind is that the US dub had a completely different voice cast. This is also why Thomas' voice sounded deeper in "Up, Up and Away" than in "Wonky Whistle", because Strider used the US version of the former, and the UK version of the latter.
I could never get used to the CGI episodes of Thomas and Friends- My brother and I watched the original ones exclusively because for us the model railroad work was a HUGE part of the charm
This was a great list! I’d definitely be interested in a worst thomas top 10 list as there’s definitely a lot of them to unpack lmao if you need any perspective myself and a few other could definitely assist!
Dear Phantom Strider, you've really inspired me! I watched your vids throughout high school and it inspired me to start writing for an online magazine in college! Obviously I have a lot of inspirations but it would take all day to list them all but you were one of them I want you to know! I love your videos! They mean a lot! Keep up the good work!
16:16, I never really liked high pitch Thomas as a kid as I was more used to Ringo Starr performing Thomas. I always grew up with him as the definitive voice. I feel like the characters in CGI Thomas should’ve had deeper voices, those Trampy videos are an awesome example of how they should sound.
I love how MatPat from game theory made a dark theory about paw patrol pretty much because he was stuck in quarantine and has a kid. You can see where that went before watching the video. I'm not gonna spoil it because 1. it's kinda dark and 2. his video is funny.
In defense of “Charades” I actually think Muffin was throwing a tantrum because she could see her sister was upset. She wanted to make it reeeeeeeally easy to guess so that her sister would be able to guess it. Early in the episode when they are eating lollies Muffin is holding Sock’s for her and if you pay attention to her body language before she goes to take her turn she’s watching and reacting to her sister being disappointed she couldn’t guess Bingo or Bluey. But she’s three so she can’t really express that very well.
I still don't understand how they got away with the Bob the Builder redesign. Even if they didn't want to keep using stop-motion they still could have used the classic designs and they would have looked better.
I do have some other thomas episodes that I think deserve a mention Apology Impossible (S22): Has a horrible lesson about bullying it makes James out to be the worst person alive Panicky Percy (S23): Percy is insanely out of character here and treats people who have PTSD like they're crazy Rocky Rescue (S19): For an established rescue team in the series, they are just absolutely stupid here Three Steam Engines Gruff (S20): Percy and Toby are horrendously OOC, that's about it rlly I'll let you know if I have more for you to talk about
While I do see the issues with charades I overlook it cause the whole thing that nana told bluey while looking for the music box reminds me of going to my grandparents and they said there was one rule which was there’s no rules (besides common sense ones obviously)
Canadian here! Regarding the French accent, Canadian actors that speak French tend to record in a more "neutral" French than their natural accents, which sound closer to the European accent (Macron's accent). The actor would have been an English speaker imitating a "stereotypical" French accent aka European style, he just did it quite badly. If they got a native local French speaker to speak English with a heavy accent, it would not really sound like Macron's accent, it's different. I dont live in Quebec where the most French speakers are, but I am close to a large French speaking community. Despite that, most native English speakers who grew up here have no idea how to speak French outside basics and would have sounded just like that actor did if asked to do a French accent. Many here dont even realize it's not the same accent as Europe. I studied linguistics and French into university so I'm a bit of a weirdo for actually knowing decent French despite being a native English speaker.
I think it’d be interesting to see a top 10 or 5 cartoon creators. Whether loved or hated. It’d be cool to see the artists and creators get some representation. A couple that come to mind is Stephen Hillenburg, Chuck Jones, and Dan Povenmire
13:21 my little brother actually really likes the new fireman sam, he watches it ocasionly I also have an opinion on the episode "the last straw" i kinda like when action cartoons have a more calm one where nothing to energetic
I got into Bluey last week and the show is AWESOME! I've been working on watching the entire season 2 and it's scary how Charades is mentioned here (since I watched it over an hour ago). For me, I gave Muffin the benefit of the doubt and simply shrug it off since she's still young and have lots to learn, though I did slap myself in the face a couple of times throughout the episode. About the rest of the video, I really look forward about a top 10 worst Thomas episodes! Bare I say it, even though I watched Thomas and Fireman Sam since childhood (and interested on watching the modern seasons thanks you, Strider), PAW Patrol is also a part of my childhood and I became a big fan of it again thanks to MatPat's theory videos about the show. For the new Caillou, it sounds good according to you, so I'll try watching it as well!
I swear Paw Patrol is all over the place in popularity and I don’t even know when it will end considering kids passionately love Paw Patrol. As for both Bluey and Thomas and Friends, I would love to see those top 10 lists. 💖💕
I love the little slip ups and bloopers left in your videos! They make me laugh every time. "Gooses" lol, love it. 😆 "Batteries not included. Each sold separately." 😂
I'd love for you to make another Thomas list! Here's some of my least favorite episodes: Thomas and the Guard (S1) - One of the first episodes. It's not completely horrid, it just feels like a filler episode Middle Engine (S6) - What's even the moral of this episode? Push Me, Pull You (S12) - Everyone just acts totally brainless. The CGi faces on the model trains also look really ugly, especially Skarloey's face. Misty Island Rescue (Special) - Technically not an episode, though it still deserves a mention. Apology Impossible (S22) - The episode that ruined James, he just acts like a total ass Most of the international episodes from S22-24 - The charm of the show is the British countryside of Sodor, not bad stereotypical versions of other countries. I also don't like the episodes you already mentioned in this video and in the worst PBS kids episodes

Seeing Caillou in handcuffs canonically is so surreal.
It's like seeing Big Bird in a jail cell. No matter the context it's hard to grasp.

At least the movies are good.

It's not fun when your name happens to be Tina and your niece puts the episode on because she knows that you can't stand it.
Do people hate charades? I mean muffin is like two, toddlers are going to act like that, and it has nice moments and bluey and bingo learn that sometimes you have to take care of younger kids.
@@Anxietykeepsmegoing OUCH 😣💔 that's just mean
@@astrowolvez Many hate Charades over my favorite character, Muffin, because she's bratty. On the inside, Muffin is a loving, caring character for example holding Socks' popsicle in the same episode but on the outside, she's mostly bratty. As the older brother of a brother, I can relate to her a ton
Here's something I THINK the writers behind shows for little kids have to deal with:
One aspect that we will always like regardless of age is character development.
Also figuring out a way to grab and keep kids attention
Nah. I am an adult and those people are idiots for thinking that. If kids didn’t need to be taught then we would be like baby sea turtles.

I personally adore Charades and may be an exception on this one, but I found the episode extremely entertaining, discussing with a friend we came to a marvelous conclusion I have to agree on, and that honestly makes the experience be granted by giving it a different perception:
He stated...
Nana, Bluey, and Bingo help accommodate Muffin, and Muffin is helping Socks play the game and being a good older sister."
“Because we have to take care of the littles.”
I agree with his statement, the episode makes Muffin be perceived as a bratty, unreasonable mutt who gets whatever she wants by screeching for it... but, considering this perspective, was that her true intention? She was very hesitant about the ballerina card, but was it for her simple selfish intentions... or to give a helping hand to her sister she is been supporting since the beginning? I'd state by her young age that's partially true... But openly wanting to specifically reenact the ballerina card was rather a desire by her whim than a helping hand for her sis
It's a very nice interpretation, but it might be a mixed-purpose handling; she wanted to do the card by her interest but she also wanted to help her sister at the same time, a win-win taking into account she truly never fully understood the game, so she would want to make the game easier for both... (again by her young age and poor understanding for the game, she was just three at the moment).
Additionally, the humor (mostly by Bingo's take), Muffin's adorable dance, Nana's speech about her grandma, and the overall family bonding vibe... I'm a minority, but it's actually among my favorite episodes
My pick for the "WORST" episode (note the quotation marks) is Fairies; started strong with a captivating conflict but the pacing then becomes messy and convoluted, the tone feels oddly mean-spirited for a show like this and the ending is confusing... Then again, I couldn't call it a bad episode and personally, this show managed to succeed in not delivering a single episode I find appalling or even skippable, I find enjoyment in every single one which is an unpopular opinion in its own right... I'm truly THAT enamored with the show but that's just me
Isn't this show a masterpiece? It truly is, and we need it more than ever, for real life.
I hated Fairies because I honestly think Bandit did nothing wrong and Bandit was being unjustly punished.
Right it’s really cute, and muffin is like two guys, and the moment with the grandma remencing about her grandmother is such a nice moment.
What was the first script
The worst Thomas episodes idea doesn't sound too terrible. Cause since you really enjoy Thomas, it makes sense why you would enjoy making that list.

Charades is Muffin at her worst though

The irony is that this never happened to Blue’s Clues and I think it’s because they never elaborated on the breed of dog Blue was.
It's nice to see Josh finally talk about Bluey in a video, and I'm all here for it!😊
I'm sure he'll love it.😄💕
I love Bluey :)
He should do Bluey videos
@@samariathemaniac Me too!
Bluey is trash if I’m being honest
it’s almost like the creators learnt a thing or two from all of those goanimate videos from several years back.

Straight up facts.
Phantomstrider is the best!
he's the best
Seconded! That'd be great to see.
Exactly, the later Thomas episodes are an insult to what Reverend Awdry wrote.
Tbh thomas fell off in season 22 and the seasons season 12 - 16 were my fav tbh
@@Darius_Videos blinded by nostalgia? these episodes suck.
@@northyw64 atleast they are better than any episodes after season 22
@@Darius_Videos that's not saying much
I’ve started greeting customers at work with “howdy howdy!” and I think I picked it up from you! Excellent video!
I don't feel as awkward anymore being in my mid 30s watching cartoons for various young age
Thank you
As a fan of Bluey, I actually don't think Tina and Charades are the worst episodes, I think there's another few contenders out there.
For my worst episode? Sticky Gecko.
I actually skip this episode/change the channel when that specific episode comes on.
I'm so glad to see that you're finally talking about Bluey! I would love to see you make a top 5 best and worst episodes video just for Bluey!
That parody short called Caillou the grownup is better than any Calliou show.
Wow! Phantomstrider is talking about Bluey now? That's amazing! I wonder what his thoughts on Bluey are plus what could be the worst episode of Bluey?🤩🤔
Bluey is such a good show

Bluey is proof that we can make a little kids show that isn’t cringe
Charades is the worst of the series which is an EXTREMELY HIGH BAR cause the show is amazing
Nah bro, Bluey is garbage.
I wouldn't say that episode is awful tho since I don't think there are really bad episodes of Bluey. I know Muffin can be a brat but I don't think she's anywhere NEAR as annoyingly bratty as Caillou.
And well one had to be the worst not due any bad intentions or anything but just by order
Personally I really didn't like the episode faceytalk I honestly think muffin was worst in that episode
@@TheKillerMoth how??
As a Thomas fan I actually whould like to see you do both a worst and best list of Thomas
So would I
Yes, we need it.
I wholeheartedly agree
How would you write a finale of thomas and friends?
@@Sudriantank743 no that’s a video idea for another day
The reason Thomas didn't sound like that before is because they were all voiced by the same narrator. Unlike these seasons, where their voiced by individual people, and this was the first voice cast. Some of them did change over time. Check out some of the seasons 17-21, and you'll see what I mean.
He did
@@neotheyoshare u sure
@@DDAnimationStudios He did check out episodes in the later seasons
@neotheyoshare yeah, but he gets a lot wrong about the show itself. Like the CGI being creepier than the models and forgetting there was a narrator.
Great video as always! The edit of the original Fireman Sam opening with the guy crashing through the window gave me a good laugh 😂
3:49 wait y’all have kids? Or did she help another couple raise 3 kids? Either one is amazing :)
I feel so bad for MatPat and his wife due to that time
I love how good you've gotten at juggling it nice to see how much you and yiur content have evolved, keep up the good work
I would love to see you talk about Ninjago someday. Whether it's talking about the best or worst episodes or ranking each season.

I just hate how it oversaturates the market. You know how TTG was constantly on Cartoon Network. Imagine that to the 10th degree.
That's true you can't
@@owenkeys3937teen titans go is worse in my opinion
In defense of “Charades” I actually think Muffin was throwing a tantrum because she could see her sister was upset. She wanted to make it reeeeeeeally easy to guess so that her sister would be able to guess it. Early in the episode when they are eating lollies Muffin is holding Sock’s for her and if you pay attention to her body language before she goes to take her turn she’s watching and reacting to her sister being disappointed she couldn’t guess Bingo or Bluey. But she’s three so she can’t really express that very well.
I was surprised to hear that you also have an education in criminal justice since I recently just graduated with a bachelor’s in it
Congratulations on finishing your bachelors!

I still don't understand how they got away with the Bob the Builder redesign. Even if they didn't want to keep using stop-motion they still could have used the classic designs and they would have looked better.
To be fair, they did use a CGI version of the original designs at one point
Neither do I and I wish those people didn't get away with the redesign of Bob the builder
I do have some other thomas episodes that I think deserve a mention
Apology Impossible (S22): Has a horrible lesson about bullying it makes James out to be the worst person alive
Panicky Percy (S23): Percy is insanely out of character here and treats people who have PTSD like they're crazy
Rocky Rescue (S19): For an established rescue team in the series, they are just absolutely stupid here
Three Steam Engines Gruff (S20): Percy and Toby are horrendously OOC, that's about it rlly
I'll let you know if I have more for you to talk about
Bluey is one of my absolute favourite comfort shows 🥰
While I do see the issues with charades I overlook it cause the whole thing that nana told bluey while looking for the music box reminds me of going to my grandparents and they said there was one rule which was there’s no rules (besides common sense ones obviously)
23:17 They are actually cousins and since the show is Canadian, it would actually make sense for Francois to be French Canadian
I think it’d be interesting to see a top 10 or 5 cartoon creators. Whether loved or hated. It’d be cool to see the artists and creators get some representation. A couple that come to mind is Stephen Hillenburg, Chuck Jones, and Dan Povenmire
10:13 this had me dying 💀
the episode “Tina” reminds me of how Zoey used Rocko to torment Elmo in Sesame Street. I recommend the Film Theory episode about it.
I'm not a fan of the PAW Patrol series, but I liked the movie "PAW Patrol: Mighty Movie" because this time they face a real villain for a change.
i've literally just been watching some of phantomstriders worst cartoon ranking videos, then this comes out? thats crazy.
Welcome back, Josh. Happy New Year 🎉
13:21 my little brother actually really likes the new fireman sam, he watches it ocasionly
I also have an opinion on the episode "the last straw" i kinda like when action cartoons have a more calm one where nothing to energetic
I honestly gotta go watch his theories on Paw Patrol lol. I'm curious to see how he either ruined the show or if he improved on it
I never thought the S14-S15 Thomas designs looked creepy.
Me neither
Paw Patrol is that kind of show that is a toy commercial in disguise.
They made a line about that in the first movie where Ryder actually sells merch based on the pups
From what I’ve seen, Paw Patrol feels like they are losing ideas, but are too stubborn to stop it for money’s sake.
"Batteries not included. Each sold separately." 😂
Aw yeah! Finally, Bluey makes an appearance here! Good stuff!
I'd love for you to make another Thomas list! Here's some of my least favorite episodes:
Thomas and the Guard (S1) - One of the first episodes. It's not completely horrid, it just feels like a filler episode
Middle Engine (S6) - What's even the moral of this episode?
Push Me, Pull You (S12) - Everyone just acts totally brainless. The CGi faces on the model trains also look really ugly, especially Skarloey's face.
Misty Island Rescue (Special) - Technically not an episode, though it still deserves a mention.
Apology Impossible (S22) - The episode that ruined James, he just acts like a total ass
Most of the international episodes from S22-24 - The charm of the show is the British countryside of Sodor, not bad stereotypical versions of other countries.
I also don't like the episodes you already mentioned in this video and in the worst PBS kids episodes
19:56 My dad is an authoritarian parent
6:42-7:11 The Unlucky Tug calls this the “Three Strikes Formula.”
Because in these sorts of episodes, the characters make the same mistake three times.
Great to see you Strider happy new year😁😁😁
I was honestly a bit worried about watching the Thomas parts of this video since I swear last time you called Sodor a town, but this was pretty good.
Also I would like to see you do a top 10 worst Thomas video and maybe even a top 10 best Thomas episode video. If it helps, here's my personal list.
Best episodes:
1) Escape
2) The Flying Kipper
3) Duncan gets spooked
4) Rusty and the Bolder
5) Henry's Forest
6) Edward's Exploit
7) A better view for Gordon
8) Thomas and Gordon
9) Fish
10) Percy's chocolate crunch
Worst Episodes:
1) The old bridge
2) Edward the very useful engine
3) Thomas and Percy's Christmas adventure ( US Thanksgiving version )
4) Gordon and the gremlin
5) Rheneas the roller coaster
6) Special attraction
7) One good turn
8) Percy and the haunted mine
9) Rusty to the rescue
10) Thomas and the gaurd
You've probably noticed that this list sticks to the classic era so if you want to change this list, I'm alright with that, but this is just my personal opinion.
Josh, the worst Bluey episode is when they did "that dance" thinking their grandparents can't do that.
Why?
I think that in Paw patrol . The kid might just be having dreams about this, and it's not real
