I loved the vampire video, the gothic governess, the funny shorts about fave fantasy books and I almost watch everything but when I watch from my tv I cannot leave a comment😂. So there are people, who are here all the time and you might not see it. Completely understand your situation and I appreciate everything you do.

Serialized novels through Patreon is a genius idea. I'm very excited to read your essays too. Watching you and your profession develop and grow in profundity is so encouraging for those of us who aspire to the same.
And idk if this counts as feedback or just data, but I struggle to keep up with channels that put out more than 2 videos per week. With work, reading, my own channel, and other hobbies, I have to be very selective with which channels I keep up with so that I'm not spending all day on TH-cam haha
I fully appreciate that! One of the reasons I put out three per week is to offer variety, thus hoping that everyone who watches me will find at least one video a week that piques their interest :)

Years ago I shifted my career out of my speciality and turned my passion into a full time job. I've never regreted that choice, but turning a passion into a career means forming a deeper relationship with something you love. It sounds great until it devours you whole.
4 years into it and 2 years of consistant therapy later and I'm now at a place similar to where you seem to be at now: creating but not burning myself out, taking consistant breaks and keeping to a schedule as to continue doing this to the end of my working days.
Turning a passion into a career can sound perfect but it is like marrying your lover: the relationship inherently changes and communication is necessary to keep going strong. The difference is that this relationship with within yourself and being honest with your long-term direction to yourself can be very challenging.
So thank you for sharing your insights and thoughts in this video. For what is a general update, I found it inspiring to maintain a healthy work relationship and keep maintaining my career. I wish you the best and look forward to more of your creative work.

I really like this idea. I don"t usually subscribe to things like Patreon but getting access to regular chapter releases would definitely make me subscribe. Also, it would be a great way to actually get to read your story without having to deal with amazon. The fact that a multi-billion dollar company doesn't bother shipping books from the UK to other parts in Europe is insane to me. Anyway, I don't want to rant too much. I'm excited to read this new fantasy story!

I myself am a software developer and I am annoyed with the mindset that we expect to get everything for free online. Software or content. Somebody has to create it and that takes a lot of time and effort. Of course it is not possible to support everybody. But as a person who watches all the videos on this channel it is my way to say thank you for all the fabulous stuff. Just one coffee a month less for me and I can support you.
Too much coffee is bad for your health anyway but reading great books can improve your health, especially mental health.

I've been here a while and I am on the Patreon, all this sounds great. Recently you've really started showing a lot more of your snarky/sassy side in your vids (we gotta watch out when that hat comes out) and that's something most of us on the Patreon see a lot more of in your day to day posting. Your channel has always been about books, and that's your focus, but I think you kind of underrate your self as an entertainer. Anytime you start 'misbehaving', the fun factor of your vids really goes up. I think that might be a way to grow your channel more. Literate perspectives on current fiction is definitely a specific niche that you are good at. Snarky hat person making fun of literary stuff covers that niche, and a lot of other book-related niches. Keep doing that.

Personally I think you're so courageous for pursuing your dreams and making money by doing something you love even if the outcome isn't secure and you have to adapt several times. I never found the courage to do that and am now "trapped" in an more ore less boring office job because it pays my bills. I like the job - it's just not what I planned to do after graduating university.
I love reading, I love literature. I studied history and archaeology and I'm a passionate artist - I often think about trying to something with all the things I've taught myself and enjoy. Right now I'm thinking of focusing on archaeological illustrations because I always loved to bring old stuff back to life and I'd love to show other people that archaeology and the past itself are not boring but people back then weren't so different from us and they lived in a colourful and exciting world, too. I think your videos kind of reminded me about to at least try it because there's nothing to loose. I have a secure job and can build from there without any pressure.
Can't wait to follow your journey further and I'm really excited about the fantasy book you've mentioned!
I am immediately interested in what you would create with the knowledge and passions you have! It's always possible to turn your hobbies into work, even if it's just something on the side for the moment. I've taken a lot of gambles to do what I'm doing, but I have ADHD and cannot cope in a normal 9-5 situation. Being a teacher was hell for me. I would love to see what you put out into the world!

These ideas are brilliant! I've become a Patreon member. This channel is exactly what is needed the joy of books and stories during these turbulent times. I noticed Mo Yan's Chinese edition books are no longer sold as ebooks anymore because he's getting sued in his home country. I'm currently reading The Republic of Wine English edition and 4 other books. I'm going to have to start getting physical copies before it gets to drastic with the book bans. I did a bookshelf organising video when I moved into my new flat last October. Other reason is that I get rid of books and buy new books literally every week, so a bookshelf tour would be out of date in a month 🤷🏻♀️

As a casual viewer of your channel your plan sounds legit and thought through. Especially the four videos is a recipe for a burnout. And from my perspective - I do enjoy your "list" videos, so when you do a monthly TBR and then at the end of the month "read video" I usually don't watch the one book reviews (because I rarely choose a book based on a review). I know that doing a job one loves often doesn't feel like a chore or that much different from what a person would be doing in their spare time anyway. But I also know that in order to love your job sometimes you have to not do it. So take care of yourself.
That's only my perspective as a person not in your core demographic in a way that horror is not my preferred genre but I do enjoy a good book of any genre. Also as a reader from a non-english speaking country I don't fret that much over reading more internationally 'cause that's basically a given among readers here and I don't think I pay that much attention to it.

I received your book one night here in CT. This is going to be a rambly messy comment. Stepped out to take out the trash. Summer evening. Half moon. Tore open the amazon package and said meh. An impulse. Im avoiding my priorities.... then i wound up sitting on the kitchen floor under a terrible sort of lighting... reading, well, your shortest story. Baby? Was it? Somehow, it brought to mind the eraser head film. 😂 After i read the description of eyes, i said what the hell am i reading? I meant to reread it before i dropped a comment. I will. Infact ill go get it now. Because there was something provokative and painful about it that resonated...some surprising elements to it that i was drawn to surprisingly. Perhaps it was something in my own self that hasnt been allowed to come out. While other things that needed to be buried. Anyway i have to review it. Unfortunately im currently unemployed myself. But maybe when im in a better position.
I recently deleted a bunch of my TH-cam playlists. They were contributing to my state of burn out. Anyway really looking forward to future videos. =)

You have mentioned offhand about making more comics videos… but that you probably won’t because your audience aren’t comics people (confession: I am a not-comics person, I’d probably still watch them). Have you considered a separate channel for the comics videos with a much sparser release schedule? Please keep being communist and trans on main tho, and do whatever you need to take care of yourself, because burnout is The Worst.
It has crossed my mind and I think maybe it’s time to do just that! Thanks for the push :)
