I've never been patient enough for a true pompadour. I wear my hair in more of a side part but with a but of a pomp in the front. I started with Suavecito, which is good for a beginner. Then I moved on to Reuzel Red, which is what I've been using for a while now, and is what I'm using now. I have a can of Dapper Dan on the way as well as a can of Prospector: Gold Rush. I'm gonna try these and see what I think. I am very interested in trying lots of new pomades to find that perfect one for me. Important qualities in a pomade for me are 1. Smell. It has to smell fantastic. 2. Shine. I like it shiny. 3. Hold. It has to hold up to at least three consecutive days of use. 4. Feel. It can't feel heavy on my head. This is one thing I didn't like about Suavecito. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but it felt like it weighed my hair down, unlike the Reuzel. Price is not a problem. I'll pay any price for fantastic hair. Any suggestions you may have for some pomades I might like are extremely welcome. Thank you for the awesome video, btw.
id suggest literally anything that Reuzel makes (also ignore my profile picture i havent changed it in like 3 years so i dont seem like a greaser, but i am haha)

Suavecito is basically straight up hair glue. Used it before tryna do an elephant's trunk, which I still can't do (fail), but it ain't bad. Just rock hard and smells different haha
Yeah man it was made for guys on the west coast because it's wicked hot, or guys in bands to keep their hair looking cool because it got messed up after 2 songs.
As for water-based, I actually like Layrite more than Suavecito because Suavecito has kind of a cola smell while Layrite smells more vanilla. Having cola smelling hair is great but the smell clashes with most of the colognes I use. Other than this difference, Layrite and Suevecito are VERY similar. They even come in the same container now.
I use the black can, and I have the same experience. I use it all the time. I will never change my product. You'll never find a product better thand Dapper Dan.
I use two different types of hair stuff that is American crew pomade heavy hold works really good cause we have the same hair type you and me madman the second one is hairspray got 2 b glued and these products are very good and very low budget and it easy to get rid of when you shower STAY REBEL
Madman: You need to try (and review!) Dapper Dan's Heavy Hold & High shine pomade. It's an oil/water hybrid pomade. Very impressive! It gives you the great shine and slickness of an oil-based and the worry-free washability of a water-based. It has impressive hold too. The only down side is that it's costly (about $20 for a 4 oz can).

The real question - does it get all f'ed up in wind or rain. My state is often quite windy.

If you want a good summer pomade try reuzel fiber. It won't melt same way than water based.
