@@2jakob643I have thin hair as part Filipino so American crew pomade has always worked well for my hair, but it’s overpriced and maybe this was 20 years ago when I first discovered it too. Maybe there are better pomades though I should try too I would like better. I have tried a lot and many I haven’t had as much success with
Ironically i spotted this in my local salon here in the UK and the owner is a friend of mine i asked her why shes selling this stuff. Surprisingly nobody has bought any yet.
I once did a google search on top pomades for 2017 & 2018 and most of those lists had American Crew Pomade on it! I left those websites immediately not even thinking about looking at the other pomades on those lists knowing how much of a sham that website is.
I will absolutely hate it if you loose your hair. Cause I really like how enthusiastic you get while you are reviewing a product. btw you were using minoxidil. Is it working? Best wishes mate! ♥
I used to buy this product back in 2000. It was an ok product then. It worked well for a shorter style pomp. Over the years, it has become substantially more expensive and yes, WAY more crapy. Personally speaking, if you want an affordable pomade that has all of the qualities that American Crap, I mean American Crew has, pick up Axe purple pomade. Keep up the great work. I like your videos and feel that you have a good grasp on what works for 50s style hair.
What's kind of funny for me is that I actually liked American Crew pomade, the high price is what made me start to look for something else. I found your channel and now I love Lockhart's Light and Medium, also Goon Grease in summer. Thanks Cameron for all your great reviews.
I’ve been able to find American crew pomade for about $10-12 for a 3oz thing but yeah, they have gotten overpriced over the years. I do remember it being like $20 and overpriced when I was in HS too back 20+ years ago
I've never heard anyone say that crew is shitty. The price is the shitty part. If you want something that is going to hold your hair then try the "fiber" by crew. It can also be purchased at any store.
13:00 I sorta scrubbed through this video to see if you kept "tweaking" and eventually you stopped. Then I rolled over to about 5 minutes after your last combing and I notice at this point you have a stranded section coming loose. So, yeah. It seems like the wheels are already starting to fall off. I would imagine, once you start actually walking around and doing stuff, the rest of the wheels would subsequently hit the deck. Thanks for the review. I see this stuff everywhere.
Love this video 😂😂😂 I tell you something, I opened up my barbershop about an year ago, and a company specialized in the distribution of barbers stuff immediately came to me, and they proposed me this American Crew, well the only thing I said was "there's no room in my shop for this crap". Crew products are ok. It was developed by a barber at a time when these products were not easy to find. They work for what I need behind the chair. If you're looking for a more old school feel, the Grooming Cream and Fiber Cream or Fiber may be better suited. You also stated that you needed a haircut, so that will factor into performance as well. Now there are all sorts of pomade product available it seems. My current favorite for an old school feel and performance is Prospectors "Crude oil" pomade. If you're looking for value, they sell a massive 15 oz. tin of pomade! This stuff reminds me of Seventeen Brilliantine, but has a modern fragrance.
Only bought this for the elvis Presley lid. Only used it a few times. Once to experiment, second time to give it a second chance. Realized it is what it is and only use it in lazy days, where I don't want to style to much, or degrease.
Dude! American Crew products are indeed "cliche" but their pomade and forming cream are very good products! I get compliments and often am asked what I have in my hair with their pomade.
I have been using this on and off for almost 20 years. I thinks it works really well for my shorter style, fine hair. I pay about 8€ for it, it’s cheap! So if this stuff is so bad, please tell me what the alternative is. Which waterbased pomade, that does not dry and get hard should I try?
I use American Crew Pomade every couple of days and it works nicely, but...........only when I use another product before for hold, AC Pomade has nada when it comes to hold.
I've always bought all the AC waxes and they always done me solids. I guess my hair is different? I currently have this on right now and my hair looks good and the hold hasn't came apart lol

Cameron I really love your vids, I’ve watched every single one. With that being said I am going to ask something of you. Can we please get some better lighting? It occurred to me when you slicked your hair back and said it looked “decent” that it is really hard for us on this side of the screen to tell. Your hair kind of all blends in and doesn’t show much definition which in turn makes every pomade seem like they style/perform kind of similarly in the slick back test. Love the new series, man!
Hmmmm--I love this one, for a new school water based pomade. But I like really flexi hold. I tried the Heavy Hold version (try that one maybe?) and it was like concrete. This one smells nice, kinda like sex and a scented candle?, and makes my hair lovely. Shiny and full of movement and definition :) Just sayin'!
Idk what you're talking about. I've used this for years and it's the best one of tried. Holds just enough to keep my hair styled, but doesn't harden or cake up. You can still run your fingers through your hair without feeling like you need to wash grease off afterwards. I like the high shine, and it smells clean. Not to mention, if you shop around online, you can get a 3oz can for less than $10. Great value imo. I keep my hair pretty short, and it's naturally very thick, so maybe it's just not meant for longer styles that need to be "sculpted", e.g., a pompadour or something like that, or for thin or fine hair. So anyway, I totally disagree with this review.
Can you do mocha de gorilla wax and they sell American crew three pack for 20 bucks at target at times I bought for my cousin for a leave In conditioner 😂
