Do you guys think Simone can still pull off the double double at all? She said in an interview before nationals that she can perform 4 out of the 5 skills that are named after her. That means it's either the Biles I on vault or the double double on beam. I'm inclined to believe she actually can do the double double, she just chooses not to because the full in is much more comfortable for her and she can do it with less deductions maybe. Although she did post herself training the Biles I on instagram a couple months ago so perhaps I'm wrong.
Pretty sure she can do it. We’ve seen her do that more recently than the Biles 1 vault. And she’s only ever successfully landed the Biles 1 vault twice in competition. People forget about how difficult the Biles 1 vault is because we’re so blown away by the Biles 2. But nobody else in the world has ever even attempted a Biles 1. A lot of people describe it as Cheng with an extra half-turn, but that doesn’t give you a full sense of the difficulty of the skill, since a Cheng is valued at a 5.6. The Biles 1 is more accurately described as a Yeo vault with a roundoff half-turn before flight. The Yeo is worth a 5.8 and already considered to be more difficult than a Cheng. The Biles 1 is significantly more difficult than the Yeo since it adds the complicated gymnastics before the preflight and requires even more power. While technically not nearly as dangerous as a Produnova, I’d argue that the Biles 1 is more difficult to learn than the Produnova.
@@captainbryce1 I think the biggest issue with the Biles I is the blind landing. You can't spot the mat the same way you can do with the Cheng. Women like Rebecca Andrade definitely have the strength and speed to add the extra half turn to their Cheng, it's just not worth it since it's so much more deduction prone and potentially dangerous.
IIRC it was the Biles I that she couldn't do for a while, though she started training it again. I think that one is definitely the hardest for her to pull off, she only did it a few times after all. I think we'd see her do he double double if it was valued accordingly.
@@tiio2208 I’m pretty sure the FIG would ban that vault as soon as any gymnast submitted it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t even think that vault has ever been attempted in men’s gymnastics! Donnell Whittenburg and Asher Hong both do a half-in, half-out vault from a Tsukahara entry, and that’s already considered to be the most difficult and dangerous vault in the world right now. I don’t care if you go from a Yurchenko entry or not, adding an extra twist to that would be insane, and they’re certainly not going to allow a woman to compete that before a male gymnast performs it successfully and proves that it can actually be done safely. The potential for catastrophic injury is just too high.
And I don’t know the reason why the Layout Full Mount and the Layout Full on beam are both rated G. Isn’t the mount version supposed to have a higher rating?
The Erceg mount is amazing. I think all of the skills shown should be increased by 0.1 . Also would be grately appreciate it if you could do the same video for MAG.
They better have devalued those wolf turns I’m tired of seeing them in every single routine lmao. Ik gymnasts do them for difficulty purposes but they are so ugly and majority who do them don’t have very good control while performing it so it’s just looks kinda bad. Grace Mccallum was the only one who I could watch and wouldn’t cringe at her wolf turns. She always performed them with such grace and calmness. But I still think they need to devalue the wolf turns im so tired of seeing them and they’re incredibly overused 😭😭
They are responsible for the safety of athletes and a double salto carries the risk of landing on the neck. Every single one of these dismounts had a double salto if I recall correctly. Seems ridiculous to make that statement from the governing committee.
If bending your knees incurs a .1 deduction, but the pike is worth the same as the tuck, couldn't any judge just call the pike a tuck and not deduct points?
For a proper tucked shape, knees have to be bend to 90° or less. So a pike with (slightly) bend legs would also result in deductions if treated as a tuck. Similar for layout vs. pike: The hip has to be completely open (max bend of 10/30°, depending on the element) to receive credit as a layout. Otherwise it will count as piked but with deductions for insufficient piking. Although doing it "wrong" (i.e. not piking enough) actually makes it harder.
They're saying that since most gymnasts are still teens going through puberty they can try stupid shit and we don't trust the trainers to not pressure these teens into doing techniques that are too risky. I forgot the name, but there was a Russian gym list who's trainer kept pushing her to do the Thomas Salto while she hadn't fully recover from a serious ankle injury. She landed on her neck and ended up quadraplegic as a result.

Wait im confused, if the biles is the first ever H skill doesnt that mean it has a high difficulty? Why wouldnt people want to shoot for that as opposed to a J skill being something to shoot for?
H is still a very high difficulty, there's no question about it. But it's not difficult enough for THAT skill. For comparison, the Full Twisting Double Tuck on floor is an E (0.5) and, on beam, a G (0.7). The Double Twisting Double Tuck on floor is an H (0.8) and, on beam (Biles Dismount), an H too. So there's not even a logic the Technical Committee follows here...
Petition to name them like in russian because it makes total sense: Artistic Gymnastics = Sportive Gymnastics in russian. (Alternative: Extream Tumbling everywhere with piped music) Rhythmic Gymnastics = Artistic Gymnastics in russian.
So the Biles is too high of a risk skill to upgrade because a gymnast 🤸♀️ might risk serious injury? However, the other skills frequently performed by gymnasts are not high risk skills too? SMH. Ridiculous 😂
Ιt;s absurd on FIG's part to declare such things about injuries. Anyone knows that by performing a simple salto back or front takes a risk of landing on their neck. Otherwise we should only try the wolfturn and by we I mean, we, all, even me, I would train hard to excell that one and only skill and may the best athlete win.
Well I don’t think Simone biles should talk about artistry in gymnastics… Her routines have little. They focus on difficulty and execution alone. Maybe Simone should perform a consistent routine on beam and not one with one difficulty she invents and insists on the difficulty rating she considers appropriate. Arrogant much? Oh and she should perform without taking the drugs like her competitors do. There should be a zero tolerance policy on drugs across the board. No exceptions. Not even for USA.
Jealous much? She can say what she wants to! But look who has all the medals, Hater! lol And she doesn’t take street drugs, Ignorant, she takes the same kind that my son does, for ADHD, which aren’t Illegal, and they don’t give You Talent, You wish that’s what gave her the talent she has!
Craziness the double double off the beam no one can do it Simone is the only one that do does it what does she care if it’s a J or an age I mean the girls nowadays think there’s very rare that they even do a full twisting off that off the beam dismount like you said in the 90s everyone did it and not everyone but most all the girls did it but I maybe it’s because of the steroids maybe because thesteroids in the food I mean they were eating the girls are all little bit bigger and they just can’t twist as fast so you have to be a tiny girl like Simone is tiny with all that power so she can twist better and quicker than anyone else
Thank You!! If Biles were White, her dismount would be a ZZZ!! But we know why they try to downplay her and her talent but God makes sure she still win, cause he knows why Haters don’t want her to win, SMH!

I’ve been watching a reallyyyyy long time, although never having learned this beautiful sport. I was a powerlifter and my art was voice (currently an opera singer in training). I try to take time to appreciate the various beautiful art of all others though. I thank you for taking time to provide such an in depth response. Much appreciated. Love & Light 💕
The new COP is already out?
Yes, since April
Would you do a video that breaks down the rating scale?
The Arabian mount is so good
1:17 The Layout full MT, is that the 'Garrison'(-Steves)? She did that during the 1988 Olympics, and still impressed me 🙂
No, the Garrison is in a tucked position and carries an F-rating
I wish the balance beam actually showcased more elements of balance and control. It’s like heavy tumbling and standing flips. It’s not a floor routine
@@captainbryce1 It is an extremely technical vault. You have to be extremely powerful but also extremely precise with every step or you'll fall.
5:29 was crazy!
And I don’t know the reason why the Layout Full Mount and the Layout Full on beam are both rated G. Isn’t the mount version supposed to have a higher rating?
Great point! FIG things 😅
Will the most difficult skill in the LA’ 28 code still be pointed feet? Just wondering...
The Erceg mount is amazing. I think all of the skills shown should be increased by 0.1 . Also would be grately appreciate it if you could do the same video for MAG.
You forgot the double front dismount, also a G
It's valued at F
They better have devalued those wolf turns I’m tired of seeing them in every single routine lmao. Ik gymnasts do them for difficulty purposes but they are so ugly and majority who do them don’t have very good control while performing it so it’s just looks kinda bad. Grace Mccallum was the only one who I could watch and wouldn’t cringe at her wolf turns. She always performed them with such grace and calmness. But I still think they need to devalue the wolf turns im so tired of seeing them and they’re incredibly overused 😭😭
👏
Can you guys send the link of the new CoP 2025-28? I didn't found it online

@@gymnasticsmasterclass thank you
Wow the Patterson is crazy to land blindly
Is the Biles worth a J rating ??
It’s only an H which is criminal
@@raquanwilliams5572 Yeah, I know it's an H witch is not fair, but my question was : what is the real difficulty for this skill ??
I wonder how well the power gymnasts would do if the code went back to a more balanced requirement between artistry and difficulty like it used to be?
They are responsible for the safety of athletes and a double salto carries the risk of landing on the neck. Every single one of these dismounts had a double salto if I recall correctly. Seems ridiculous to make that statement from the governing committee.
The Biles is The Best
The shishova II looked crazy
Love the Biles!
Oh they released the new cop 😲
Update: I was happy before read that, FX changes are shit
What happened to FX ?
@@ae2948 I write a comment in this video with all changes
The limited dmt bonus? Ugh
@@thecreativegeek7886the bar changes seem worse imo. A correctly done half turn skill should not have the same rating as the version without since it's much harder when the half turn isnt cheated. Floor changes do at least give some gymnasts the chance to build more difficulty
Layout full mount seems more difficult than an Arabian mount…
I read the code:
Changes in the code of points, the most importants things:
*VT*
Vaults still the same SV.
Gr 5 vaults now have an incomplete turn deduction.
0.2 bonus in the score for vaults in different directions.
*UB*
The same CV (sadly).
Now tckachev with or without turn with the same root and the jaeger in any position with or without turn can be performed once.
Example:
Hindorff (credited)
Black (not credited)
Li ya (credited)
Layout jaeger(not credited)
The jaeger and tckachev elements with half turn have now the same value as the counterpart without turn: example Tweedle is D, Li ya is D, Black is F.
Endos in mixed grip are upgraded to D (with ½ turn also D) and with full turn is E.
Nemour is downgraded to G.
Double layout 1/1 DMT upgrade to F
*BB*
Same CV
Stag Jump added to the COP (A value) is the same element as the Sissone
Ring Sissone added to the COP (B value) is the same element as the Stag Ring Jump
0.2 artistic deductions in poor body posture and lack of fluency
*FX*
DMT bonus only if you performed more than 2 acro lines
C+D/E indirect is now 0.2 CV
Ex: front full to double pike 0.2 CV
1 ½ twist to 2 ½ twist 0.2 CV
B/C+D direct is now 0.2 CV
Example
2 ½ twist to front layout 0.2 CV
Front full to front double twist CV
Arabians saltos with ½ turn are bwd elements and now are the same elements as full in tuck/pike
Split ring full downgraded to C
0.2 artistic deductions in body posture, poor expressive engagement and connectivity with the music
0.3 artistic deductions in poor expressive engagement and connectivity with the music.
Sadly, no downgrade for wolf turns yet.
What do you mean when you say “gr 5 vaults now have an incomplete turn deduction”? What is a gr 5 vault?
@@thecreativegeek7886 Yurchenko half turn, for example the Cheng vault, since the 2017 cop, don't have any deduction for incomplete turn, the incomplete turn is complete the half turn block in the vaulting table.
🤦🏻♀️ Another olympiad full of wolfs and -feet- bread slices🙄
Thanks for posting the COP🖤
A G skill but deducted by .5? Might as well just do a no-deduction B skill, or C. Hehe
Rebeca so most Powerfull!!!
RIP Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
Petition to name them like in russian because it makes total sense:
Artistic Gymnastics = Sportive Gymnastics in russian. (Alternative: Extream Tumbling everywhere with piped music)
Rhythmic Gymnastics = Artistic Gymnastics in russian.
so who is going to explain to the FIG how sports work
So the Biles is too high of a risk skill to upgrade because a gymnast 🤸♀️ might risk serious injury? However, the other skills frequently performed by gymnasts are not high risk skills too? SMH. Ridiculous 😂
All the gymnasts do the same stuff in competition. Completely boring.
Then scroll on baby.
@@dilberta6046 (S)he does. Still everything's boring.
The Biles H,of course!
4:22
Wolf turns need to be devalued to an A. Ugliest things in sport.
Nobody's doing the layout full like Kui.
if it’s more difficult, why not give it more difficulty? 😜
Any of these dismounts could break someone’s neck
None of them, cause I ain't fidna!
Well I don’t think Simone biles should talk about artistry in gymnastics…
Her routines have little.
Add pointed feet.
that s what i ve been saying for so loooong!!!! thank you!!!
What steroids? Gymnasts in the 90s were severely underfed in many cases.
FIG should be replaced...
If Biles was white, it would be a Z, just saying the obvious.
Thank You!! If Biles were White, her dismount would be a ZZZ!! But we know why they try to downplay her and her talent but God makes sure she still win, cause he knows why Haters don’t want her to win, SMH!
It was a mistake to push the sport towards ever more daring acrobatics. Some of the top gymnasts look like body builders with a circus act, lacking grace and artistry. I miss Shannon Miller and the gymnasts of her era.
Body shaming much?
@@Summonearth,sounds like it, but this person couldn’t do Any of the things those Gymnasts do! If the times change, they have to change with it, no sport stays the same, how boring!
Don’t like this kind of gymnastics,it’s anything but gymnastics ; gymnastics means elegance, ballet combined with music
Don’t like acrobatic that is specific to circuses
Don't watch then? No one is forcing you. If you want to see ballet, watch ballet videos
Artistic gymnastics means using both artistry and ACROBATICS.
@@BettyBrown-jt4fh Gymnastics is a type of sport that includes physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, artistry and endurance.
floor routine-The routine is choreographed in advance, and is composed of acrobatic and dance elements. Above all others, this event allows the gymnast to express their personality through their dance and musical style. The moves that are choreographed in the routine must be precise, in sync with the music, and entertaining. Many gymnasiums and national federations hire special choreographers to design routines for their gymnasts.
beam routine-A beam routine must consist of: A connection of two dance elements, one a leap, jump, or hop with legs in a 180-degree split. A full turn on one foot. One series of two acrobatic skills, one being a salto. Acrobatic elements in different directions (forward/sideward and backward)
as you can see it IS ABOUT DANCE!!!!!
Eight sports are governed by the FIG, including gymnastics for all, men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampolining (including double mini-trampoline), tumbling, acrobatic, aerobic, and parkour.
as you can see, acrobatic is different from ARTISTIC gymnastics...
