Thank you for the tutorial. I haven't been deluged with this much information at one time since my macroeconomics prof accidentally crammed a semester's worth of material into the first four weeks of an 8 weeks accelerated course. I will be watching this again...and again...and again. This looks like good reference material.
Thanks for this, even though its an old video on LOTRO this is probably one of the most concise. I wish you slowed down a bit for those of us like myself who have NO experience dealing with this game. Maybe you could do an update to this video someday?
The main roadblock in making an update is: -These weapons haven't changed since I made this video -SSG has said every 3 months that "An update to legendaries is coming!" since 2018, but have yet to show or announce anything.
If you've already imbued a weapon, can you, and should you, reset completely and start from the beginning to get it right? I haven't used my legendary in a long time because it doesn't do half of the damage of what I've found in a lvl 120 chest
That's a great question. I should really make part two about imbuement soonish. So the main issue is that for the imbuement system, the damage (DPS) of the weapon is determined by how many ranks you have in DPS. DPS has a maximum of 67, but starts around 36 or so. The issue is it isn't a linnear scale. 36 -> 58 is almost no change in damage, and then from 59- ->67 you see a tripling of the base damage of your waeapon. The base damage of your weapon is the most important factor in doing strong damage, so increasing this stat on your legendary is integral. However, doing so requires either A) Star lit crystals, a rare material that can be gotten in end game group content or by being traded for large quantities of currency from the epic battle vendor in old minas tirith. B) Mithril coins (Lotro store) Getting all the crystals in very time consuming because to do end game content you cannot use a weapon that has not been levelled as the content is scaled around having a max dps legendary. So really, there isn't a good answer besides Mithril coins to catch up. The good news is that SSG knows this is an issue and is adressing it, stating they are going to be adding new progression quests or mechanisms for legendaries as a bandaid fix until they fully revamp the system to be more friendly. To answer your question... 100-105: Using an imbued legendary is fine. 106-130: Use a crafted or random loot weapon to get better dps, unless your weapon is DPS level 58 or higher.
I wonder how many bong hits were involved in designing this system? This is a perfect example of how to make returning and new players run screaming from the game....
When the system first came out in 2008, it wasn't too crazy and we only had 10 levels to deal with the weapons, so it was pretty novel. But then it just got worse and worse. The new system is so much better imo.
I am level 65. I have unidentified legendary item. I go to Forge Master to identify it. But there is no such option in my game. I have only Reforge option. In the video there are two option which are Identify and Reforge. But I have only Reforge, there is no Identify button. Anybody has any idea about it?
Yes, this video is many years old and the legendary system has completely changed since then. Here is a more up to date video th-cam.com/video/N6UzxDjVFIU/w-d-xo.html
It doesn't matter if you tier them up before imbueing with scrolls because you can also apply those after. The free tiers you get from levelling up do count though, so awlays max the xp before imbueing.
How this video helps a Beginner like me, i'm lev 28 ,will take me years to get to 100 lv..lool.. plus in many Quest ,Maps and to open or get stuff is required Lotro =Money...i may be wrong.
Watching this video literally makes me want to play something else...ANYTHING else. There's no sense in a video game being this complicated, which is precisely why Star Wars Galaxies failed.
This is exactly why I'm sticking with LOTRO. Tired of systems when you get an item, socket it, get set items and that's the only thing you can do. Zero customization ... boring. But to each their own.
Thanks for doing a fantastic job explaining what is a really confusing process. I appreciate it very much!
First time going through the legendary item process on one of my alts and this video still slaps with the useful information. Thanks a bunch, Sir.
This guide is very helpful. Thank you for providing such a clear and detailed explanation.
I really needed this! Thank you!
As a new player this whole legendary system is an incredibly unintuitive, complex, and messy system. This video helped IMMENSELY, thank you.
most helpful guide I've come across. thank you

Do you have a video that simp;y shows me how to make a Legendary s sword? Thank you
Noob question...do you have to buy Mines Of Moria to start or finish the quest?
Getting real sick of DDO......is this(LotRo) a good choice to move on to?
Sorry so late...but I'd say Yes, very much so. Good hunting! :)
hey strim, i dont have the quest where i can talk to the dwarf to enter moria i boosted a hunter to lvl 95 and i can`t get the quest.

Hey strim, I’m an 8 year player turning 17 next year, was the youngest kid playing ddo
Could only make it 2 minutes into the video, are you seriously chewing gum while making a youtube video?
