This is annoying to train on an electric drumset sadly, because of the rubber pads and lack of sound effects, but it's good to know the theory at least. So thanks for the video!
You need a better electronic set. I started with an Alesis set with rubber heads and it sucked as far as getting decent bounce. I then upgraded to a Roland set with mesh heads and wow, what a difference! Feels much closer to an acoustic set. Also sounds way better. With these electronic sets, you definitely get what you pay for.
Finally a lesson that sounds similar toy old jazz tutor. He was a session drummer who did some teaching because he wanted to pass on skills and he taught me how to properly hold my sticks just like you mentioned. Let the sticks do the work.
Thank you so much for these tips, I knew this was the way I should go towards but hearing it in a well structured video makes more easy to apply , your videos are the best!
Cool to see that your doing lessons that aren’t song tutorials (even though I do appreciate the song tutorials). I’ve been working on buzz roles for about a week and I’ve been watching all the videos I can find on TH-cam and I’m glad you made one because I’ve been a subscriber since 2017. You should maybe do some drum covers too, another way to switch up the content.
How’s that for timing? Yeah I haven’t worked out how to do drum covers on YT without getting stung for copyright. But I will start mixing up the song lessons a bit I think, good feedback thanks!
man i needed this. My buzzes are super chopy and this also is a great reset and where to hold the stick. Thanks!

Maybe try using a practice pad?
