I think as of right now, Charlie thinks that Jacob is just a family friend and he doesn't notice the attachment or imprint. Also, Charlie doesn't know the whole history of wolves. Just that Jacob is one.
Jacob says the way the imprint works is that he will be what Renesmee needs when she needs it. Right now, what she needs is a brother, so to everyone who doesn’t know about the imprint, that’s probably how their relationship looks. Like he’s so close to the family that he became sort of a brother figure to Renesmee.

Jacob doesn’t have to be her husband or boyfriend. Imprinting just means he will do whatever it takes to make her happy and keep her safe.with that being said there hasn’t been someone in Jacob’s family to imprint and not eventually date or marry the person for the simple fact they become everything their significant other wants them to be.

He views her as Reneseme decides how she should be view. 2 - because Reneseme is possessive of Jacob and dislike anyone having his attention, even since she was a baby. Basically she wants him near and Jacob due to imprinting will do anything, rational or irrational, she wants or expects him to do.
