We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. Awwe seeing you drink Rooibos tea I felt such a sense of pride seeing that it's from South Africa the country of origin for Rooibos( litteral translation Redbush) I raised my babies on as it calmed and soothed my son's eczema. It's a wonderful face wash for a sensitive skin. My eldest son is 33 and his fiancé asked me why he always wants Rooibos when he feels sick and I had to smile because Rooibos always stayed down when queezy, Rooibos warmed the tummy when cold and Rooibos gave me strength when I took care of sick kids. That jam looks good!
Here in Germany, every supermarket sells "Gelierzucker" - Jam sugar. There's 2 strengths 2:1 and 3:1 which indicates the ratio of fruit to sugar to use. It also spells it out on the bag, how much fruit to use for that bag and has a recipe. Super simple.
It's a LITTLE more expensive than just sugar, but I've never worked out out if that would be the same if you bought the pectin.

I love your simple method of shelling your beans. 😊 I do something similar when saving seeds. When my plants go to bolt after they dry, I cut the heads off the seed part and save them in lunch paper bags I write on the bags what they are when they are good and dry I shake the paper bag to remove the seeds and chaff. Then I store my seeds in paper envelopes I make. 😊

🤗 This is how it is done kiddos! This is your life. Do what works for you. Resting throughout the day is how humans renergizes oneself. Children learn how to do things when they are shown (mentor) how to do something. It will not be done exactly the way adults do things, but as children are given more autonomy they will reach out seeking more to do. Children do not consider this work rather helping their parents.

You guys are great but maybe because you are so used to doing all the incredible garden/canning stuff you don't realize the beginners have no clue and need every step pointed out. Wow. What an impressive bean harvest! What a labor of love! Wait for massive amounts of food being eaten when your boys become teenagers...😅

You may not realize it. But this is the best times of your life. Your kids are helping and it's a life they'll look back on with fond memories when they're parents themselves. And you've done that for them.

It is easier and faster if you use a small stick to hit the beans once inside the pillow. does a superb job at deshelling

After watching you harvest the beans I decided to plant some kidney and black beans next year. But after seeing how you shell them… it’s a definite yes to beans! How fun and satisfying!

I wish i could live like you guys. I'm stuck in a appartment here in belgium where there isn't a lot of nature around, bying a house is waaaay to expensive to do alone. Feeling stuck and not very happy all i do is work and be at home so yeah love your videos and your family

Could you grow some herbs on your window sill or balcony? If not maybe there is some plant that likes indoor light. Ask at the nursery. It will be at least a little bit of nature in your life.
