I love all the Sunbow references. I’m rewatching now for the first time since I was a kid and it’s aged really well. Somehow it manages to simultaneously be: weirdly nuanced and humane cold war propaganda, unabashed corporate toy marketing, and an exquisitely insane and exciting piece of entertainment. It’s also bats**t crazy in the best way. Plus, the Joe corps is a love letter to every part of the US, with Joes that hail from every state. As a masshole I always had a soft spot for Barbecue, Doc, and Lady Jaye.
Totally agree! Love the cartoon & comics references. Love that Classifieds are including the Joe & Cobra laser rifles! Also, hello from just south of you in RI
Great video! One Easter egg that wasn’t in here is the person in the distance on the box art for the Arctic B.A.T., which many think is Snowjob. Look closely though, it doesn’t have Snowjob’s brown shoulder straps and the face inside the hood is black. I believe it may be Snake Eyes in arctic gear.
This is so awesome. I’m very glad the line is doing this, creates so much more anticipation. Also keep it it up and keep improving, your content is great!!
For Hawk, the Stun vs. Triple T in front of Headquarters scene is from Sunbow’s first episode of the second season. Hawk even comments that the new Stuns have replaced HISS tanks.
There’s a destroyed tank on the upcoming Techno Viper that looks an awful lot like it could be a Classified MOBAT. Maybe hinting at an upcoming Haslab or Hasbro pulse exclusive?
I am going to start charging you every time I watch one of your videos and decide to purchase a new Classified figure. Great video, made me appreciate Helix who I was aware of but was past my prime Joe reading era.
buzzers badge and dog tags may also be a reference to the episode where some of the joes go to an alternate timeline. buzzer was a cop in that timeline and the dogtags could be from joes he killed in that timeline.
Interesting. Yeah, Buzzer always had a badge and I never questioned why until I watched a review (I think it was Hooded Cobra Commander 788's review). But that is an interesting addition @HCC788
I had heard that the box art for Agent Helix and Shockwave were swapped. The presence of police cars in Agent Helix's box art was meant to put Shockwave as one of the agents. As for Helix being under the bridge with the train....I am not so sure. It is possible that this train is the same train featured on Metal Head's box art with Gnawgahyde riding on it.
I heard the same idea about the swap, but I don't think it makes sense. That would be hard to do. If you read SILENT OPTION mini-series you;ll see why my theory makes more sense. It's possibly her most significant story line and it involves a house and a SWAT team at the climax (I edited this because, there is certainly the possibility I am wrong)
You could be right about the train. I don't know for sure on that one, but there's not a lot to pull from with Shockwave, as he was later in the line and so missed the Sunbow cartoons, leaving only the terrible DIC series to pull from
Dude if you actually pay attention with the Walmart and Target if you look in the background of the Walmart and Target exclusive GI Joe figures especially Big a corgi dog in a mining tunnel in the middle of. Same thing for shipwreck why is there a bicycle on. Also why is tiger Force Flint have a convertible in the middle of the rainforest. I'm so glad someone else besides me has noticed this
The Major Bludd is incredible. Rock N' Roll is a really good figure too. Zartan and the Dreadnoks, Retro cardback Gung Ho, Roadblock version 3, Scrap Iron--all great
I totally want a Cold Slither North American tour shirt !!!!!! On the 85-86 You'll be Joining us Soon leg of the tour !!! LOL ! Somebody make this shirt happen !!!!!! I will illustrate one myself dammit !
It’s funny seems like half the fans think chuckles Walkman was just a fun nod to transformers and nothing to be taken seriously and the other half are very adamant that it’s sound blaster it’s part of the story line there spying on the joes (when none of that has been confirmed) like you said we will just have to wait and see …….I mean they definitely have a crossover of some sort planned
I heard that they mistakenly switched the backgrounds of Helix and Shockwave. He should be in front of the SWAT truck, and she should be on the shore in front of a bridge.
I heard Baldylocks reviews say "What? t seems like they should swap Shockwave & Helix's box art." But it wasn't a statement that is what happened. It was a statement that it SEEMS like that's what happened. I think the idea that they made that big of a mistake is pretty hard to swallow. Plus, when you read the IDW series, the Swat team makes perfect sense for Helix
Idk why they put a Dodge Viper for TF Flint cause its obviously an old Jaguar in the cartoon, probably some dude who worked on the box loves the Dodge Viper.... and i thought Helix was NOT on the "spectrum", i think thats what i saw on the JLS comics channel!?
That was a theory someone had, but they were not right. If you read the Helix mini-series, Silent Option its really clear that the SWAT team is a reference to her most significant storyline. Its a great read by the way Im less sure about Shockwave's box art.
Rock n Roll could also be referencing GI Joe original comic #8. Where the Joes defend the Space Shuttle launch from a Cobra attack.
Damn. That would make way more sense, because Rock N Roll isn't really in the cartoon episode much -- if at all.
Larry Hama said the dreadnoks liking grape soda and chocolate donuts was a metaphor for alcohol and drugs
that makes sense!

Man brings back all the memories from childhood watching the cartoons. So glad the Classified team added these cool nods.
Yeah, you can really tell they did their research.
This is so awesome. I’m very glad the line is doing this, creates so much more anticipation. Also keep it it up and keep improving, your content is great!!
Thanks! Will do!

Awesome. Nice catch! I know I must have missed a few
I'm so happy someone did this, I love all the little easter eggs they've put on the box art and I'm so glad someone else has too! Great video!
I for one, will miss windowless packaging.
@@DestroIsMySpiritAnimal As will I! As unpopular as that opinion may be, I personally really enjoyed them if nothing else for the excellent box art.

Yeah, she's a great character. She should get her own comic book.
@@DestroIsMySpiritAnimal I ordered her after watching your video. Had seen her in some comics from IDW but didn't know the backstory.
Great video! I picked up on most of the references right away, but there were a few I didn’t pick up on. Thanks for putting this together!
You're welcome!
Shout out gratefully received! Thanks for the signal boost. :)
Thanks! I would not have figured out the Big Ben without your video. that was a tough one.
I think the pyramid on Tiger Force Flint is Montezuma's pyramid where Flint led the mission in Arise Serpentor.
the sheriff's badge was from one of the cartoons where the dreadnoughts played as sheriff's
Okay. That could be it. the original figure also had the badge, In order to find out the real answer, we'd have to ask Ron Rudat
Love the videos and the insight you give with out having to do the deep dives myself thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!

@HCC788
Truly truly enjoyed this. Hopefully you'll do more as the series goes on!
I hope they keep planting easter eggs
@Destro Is My Spirit Animal, I'm here for the video. Can't wait to hear what you got to say.
Thanks!

Awesome video I love learning about the Easter eggs.
Me too
Really unique video. You got my attention. Yo Joe.
This was fantastic, great job. I thought I knew everything and you have taught me more. Keep up the great videos !
Thanks. it was a lot of research
3:06 "Philip two" hurt the presentation. Alexander the Great's dad was "Philip the second," written Philip II. Still a fun video.
Gotcha, I speak fast to keep the pace and sometimes say stupid shit

Thanks alot! Happy new Year!
Great video!
Thanks!
Who is that H.A.L.O. Jumping in the background on the left of Shadow Tracker’s box art?
Good question. Not sure what that is, because there is very little lore on Shadow Tracker.
I thought the skeleton with the black hair was Geronimo.
it could be. Hard to tell which one because he's a bit obscured
I'm 45 years old and am just starting to collect the new figures I just ordered spirit the indian..who would u guys suggest I get next

What better car for someone who fights (or dodges) Cobra than a Dodge Viper? 😉
@@tjmb Flint never dodged from a Cobra Trooper, they couldn't hit a fish in a barrel... they're worst then a Storm Trooper!! ;)
👌🏾
I thought shockwave box art was a mirror to helix. When did that change
That was a theory someone had, but they were not right. If you read the Helix mini-series, Silent Option its really clear that the SWAT team is a reference to her most significant storyline. Its a great read by the way
Im less sure about Shockwave's box art.
Tuh-Lehm-Uh-Tree
really? that's your only take away?
Was calling Decepticon Soundwave as Soundblast intentional, or is he really called that now? Sorry, I don't follow Transformers any longer.
Yeah, they are two different transformers. The black Soundwave is "Soundblaster"
