Growing up in carteret as a kid we use to go down to minute park and under the turnpike bridge to go hop on and explore some of the rotten abandon boats that are all stuck in the mud back there. It was like a playground for us kids that loved to explore everything. Good luck getting a kid to go outside and play these days, cellphones and PlayStations are all they want…
What an amazing slide show, not just because of the material and the event, but the presentation and the preparation are in a different class than most TH-cam videos. It is evidence of how powerful still shots can be. Thank you very much for these entertaining and enlightening fourteen minutes.
What you don't see is the boats UNDER the boats. There are several layers there at Arthur kill. And the bottom? That is sometimes up to ten feet of silt. Even approaching the shore. Be very careful there people. ✌🏼
There are a number of classic railroad tugs and ferries left moored for eternity at Arthur Kill. "Black Tom" is another classic ship's graveyard. I don't know where the Alexander Hamilton" was finally scuttled, but some of these passenger ferries include ships of the Jersey Central and Erie-Lackawanna railroads, a few Reading and LIRR tugs. In the 1920's a matrix of their wakes would have weaved across NY Harbor at all hours, and the place would have seemed unworldly without them. This is a wonderful video. The spiral staircase would be a great feature in any new apartment or townhouse. I would if much bronze, brass, or copper remains on these ships? It's a tour I'd love to take. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciation to you both for a most enjoyable share of your adventure. Having watched several TH-cam’s of fine drone footage, all fascinating. Your friend is the Captain of a two stroke jet powered plastic soap dish.
Nice video, I live in woodbridge we used to go to that coal thing and play paintball and shit. That was like 10 years ago, after all the Hurricanes i wouldn't go back there, it's a death trap. Good memories
Bill and Ted ain't got nothing on you guys. My brother and I do this same stuff. We love poking around stuff like this too ! Don't know if you go back this far, but the waterfront from Bayonne to the GW was a real "trip." I mean some freaky stuff. We took cups, saucers and dinnerware off a ferry half sunk on Jersey side of the Hudson. Man, they sure have changed that whole strip. All the condos makes it hard to get to the river anymore. 30 years ago, WOW!!
dang this needs more views! great narration and good pictures, they are "lacking" but you went there for you, not me, thanks for taking me along in 2021 where the American future is more parulis then ever
If they cleared it all there would be no more history and no video to watch. Unlike most of the world the US has little enough history without sanitizing what you have left.
Fabulous job! I'd be curious to know if the Charles Galloway side wheel ferry is abandoned in this area. My Grandfather was a Captain on the ferry (Perth Amboy to Tottenville) from its launch in 1922 until he died in 1924. Thanks for making this video. I had seen the graveyard from Google Maps (limited resolution) and always wondered more bout the graveyard.
I live in Jersey n the storys I hear about these places is unbelievable, my dream is to vist all thoughs places also , I seen the Chester ferry n always wanted to visit it I always passed it on the bridge but never got a chance to actually see it in person
Those two huge tanks on the Staten Island side are the old LNG tanks I believe, when I was in 7th grade our teacher was one of the opponents of them being used stating that it would take out the whole area if they ever exploded, she lived in Carteret and was a big environmental activist, if I remember correctly her group was successful in shutting them down and they were never used, this would have been in the early seventies, I live in Perth Amboy and remember seeing these wrecks from the outerbridge, then sometimes the abandoned wooden barges would be on fire, I don't know if that was the way they got rid of them or people would set them on fire.
Just out of curiosity, what makes you believe there are/were submarines? There was a submarine CHASER there designated USS PC-1264 but no evidence nor reference to any submarines that I can find.
Go visit the ghost ship on the Hackensack river in Carlstadt. it now sits on the ramp of the former waterfront cafe and marina. Its a 80 foot steel hull Italian yacht that came in on her own power and now is a ghost ship... The former owner get her on Ebay for 30g with the intent of restoring her.... However that day never came as she see's the river bottom twice a day... Very sad, if that boat could speak I am sure she would tell many a story of her times of travel
If you went to McDonald's for lunch and narrated it in the style you did here, it would be the most suspenseful, intriguing, mysterious, lunch trip ever documented. Come on. Do it! It would be amazing.
Some of these ship's were laid down before the nuclear age and the iron isn't contaminated making the metal low background steel and extremely valuable.
I remember my father telling stories of German U-boats being spotted off the coast of Manhattan in the early years of the war. He and his remaining brother quit school and joined the military -- my father was only 16.
I have to admit ...The footage was outstanding. The commentary made me nauseous from the thought of you two butt pirates frolicking around these great boats yelling like the guys from Monty Python playing tummy sticks and smearing feces on each other while listening to Sonny & Chers greatest hits. Thanks for that.
I do like this video great content sad to see but would awesome to see a total reconstruction and new beginnings to those old sea biscuits.perhaps they could make a memorable bridge or New Navy ship out of before the salt takes ahold and they simply rust away into jagging shards . Hard to believe when property is so valuable that it could become such a waste land . Oh well our grand kids problem now .
This is an awesome video, wait , narrated slideshow and a breath of fresh air compared to most urban exploration videos on youtube that are taken by annoying morons on a cell phone, shaky and/or even more annoying music , like every drone video with the stupid music , ugh/. Made me feel like I was there along with you guys for the adventure. Well done gentlemen, well done.
You can write a book with the way you talk and tell this story, you kept me hanging onto word after word good job 👍
Great presentation brother!!!

"It was a dark and stormy night . . ." LOL!
So enjoyed the tour of Arthur Kill. What a great script you created to go along with the slides.
What an amazing slide show, not just because of the material and the event, but the presentation and the preparation are in a different class than most TH-cam videos. It is evidence of how powerful still shots can be. Thank you very much for these entertaining and enlightening fourteen minutes.
I didn't realize it was a side show until I read your comment. Quite gripping, wasn't it?
Not surprised that I loved the photography & narration! Keep up the great work!
It's like listening to an audio book. Awesome presentation!

I read where the "Hamilton" was scuttled off Sandy Hook.
Great story and piece of history, well done. Thanks for sharing this history with us. Tony W.
Always wondered about these ships. Awesome stuff. Thanks for posting.
A well delivered presentation and a master storyteller.
That coal dump is awesome! thank you for sharing
Appreciation to you both for a most enjoyable share of your adventure.

That was a once in a lifetime adventure. You're a lucky fellow. Wish I could have gone with you. Great narrative too. A thing of maritime beauty.
Was there 10 years ago. It was definitely eerie.
Nice! Really atmospheric, entertaining and intriguing!
Great explore and story! Thanks :-)
Nice narration! Pretty cool production.
TX! Bless!
Wonderful video, good narrative and NO annoying music. Like!
Gothals bridge in the background has been replaced couple years ago. Interesting to kayak around those SI boats. Thanks for the vid and commentary
Wonderful video and description!
Well done, interesting place, thanks for sharing!
I have never ever had the urge to jump right into the Arthur Kill and go for a swim. Yuk.
Great video as usual ,,,, love being on the water
Nice video, I live in woodbridge we used to go to that coal thing and play paintball and shit. That was like 10 years ago, after all the Hurricanes i wouldn't go back there, it's a death trap. Good memories
Your prose is a hoot! Loved every word.
Very nice poetic narration. Enjoyable video!
cool little story, great production.... especially in the narration.... my favorite photo was the spiral staircase.

Very well done!
dang this needs more views! great narration and good pictures, they are "lacking" but you went there for you, not me, thanks for taking me along in 2021 where the American future is more parulis then ever
I guess it’s never been cleaned up because of the landfills, it would never be considered valuable waterfront property.
Excellent!
Thanks for sharing
Went kayaking there numerous times. Lots of bolts and iron rods rusted to a point and right below the waterline to watch for.
Great video
Pictures no video ?
still a favorite of mine.
First thing that DOES get salvaged are the portlights(portholes to landlubbers)Notice that they're all missing.
Rock on man, you still cruse the Passaic?
That’s a shame that WW2 ship is their rotting, but thanks for the tour, very interesting
Well done.
Great video, but why don't they clear that mess out of the water?
If they cleared it all there would be no more history and no video to watch. Unlike most of the world the US has little enough history without sanitizing what you have left.
Most enjoyable. I plan on visiting soon.

my dad grew up in elizabeth, nj he used to talk about the gas house district.

Great video guys..I'm a Jersey Girl lol I subbed!!
you can check out the arthur kill on Google Maps
Forecastle is pronounced Folk-sel.
Folk-sel is a commonly used slang term for forecastle
@@justacentrist4147 'Just a centrist' is a commonly used slang for zero content troll!
nice story

...and suddenly, a creature emerged from the inky depths. It appeared shapeless at first. Then it’s dreadful origin became clear....
great vid. are there submarines there? thanks!
Some of these ship's were laid down before the nuclear age and the iron isn't contaminated making the metal low background steel and extremely valuable.
FUN FACT, at 2.44 you show the fresh kills landfill hill. The top of that hill is the final resting place of the World trade Center.
According to a rumour there are even German WW2 Torpedo Boats ??
I remember my father telling stories of German U-boats being spotted off the coast of Manhattan in the early years of the war. He and his remaining brother quit school and joined the military -- my father was only 16.
It sounds like a narrated murder mystery.
damn i love this shit more please

That Narration was Kick ass LOL!!!
Danger Danger will Robinson...falling through decks and be a big risk.
Isn't this trespassing (not that the owners give a shit considering they're operating a giant navigation hazard)?

Waterfront property practically on a landfill…no thanks!

It is spelled forecastle but is pronounced " foke sull"
I’m too ill, I represent Arthur Kill, see my face on a $20 bill!
Hoist the U.S. colors on the mast / post of those who have them.
Thats not how you pronounce "forecastle"
good script writing
