In most Moroccan homes, sellou or sfouf is usually made for special occasions. For example, the birth of a baby (it’s supposed to give the mother energy). Also, in a lot of Muslim homes, it’s a staple during Ramadan.

Fan fact about morocco, every city in it have 2 sides, the old and traditional side and the other evolving side with all the new tech and more high end buildings and hotels so morocco is a mix of old and new in everything from the buildings to hotels to food to even people 😁 but some places like fes and meknes have more of the old and traditional vibe than any other city in morocco
in a nut shell morocco is like a wakanda 😁😁

The colored windows and tiles are Andalusian style. As a child I remember these red green yellow blue windows in my grandma her house in Tetouan exact same thee angle curve. Fess was one of the seccond/third city where Andalusian refugees fled to and seccond name of this city is sister of Tetouan. This is because of the long historical ties between the two cities and their elites. Andalusia was Muslim and yess Jews were part of the culture.

No problem. Just one correction it is Tetouan wich is named Sister of Fess. The elites of both cities go far back in history and married exclusively with one another. After Battle of Bagdoura they installed the first independent dynastie after upcoming of the Arabs.

Hi, thank you for this short visit of the Medina of Fès, there is so much to see in there,.
As for the Tanneries, as strange as it may seem, if it is true that the smell shocks the visitors, I have been told that for the workers who work in no longer feel it.
As for the black smoke you saw from the top of the city, it is probably the kilns that are used to cook the pottery and the raw material of the Moroccan Fassi Zellige, if you are still in the city, it would be very interesting to show a workshop of the manufacture of this zellige which is unique of its kind and whose way and art of making it have been transmitted for centuries from father to son.

Did you know that these houses are worth more than a million dollars, and if you want to buy one of them, the state intervenes and obliges you to leave it after 99 years if you are a foreigner?😉😉

22:57 Fuasa (Fez citizens) do not speak arabic, it's just that their Darija accent is the one that resembles old Moorish/Andalusian the most, the confusion with Arabic is just because these languages can be written with arabic script, just like Urdu, Punjabi, Kurdish, etc
reminder that the famous "arab conquest of north africa" is extremely inaccurate, as Arabs have actually never been to Morocco,

Fez is high ob my list of places to visit. I' assume the man showing you around was Jewish since he lived in the Jewish quarter & there was a star of David on his grandfather's certificate. Morocco has always had good relations with the Jews there.

Moroccans are a mixed race of Sephardic Jewish, amazigh, Iberian and Arabian. In morocco Jewish and Muslim lived in peace since centuries and the king of morocco Mohamed the five refused to give moroccans Jewish to nazi Germany because they are after all moroccans and not specifically Jewish or Muslims ..
