hey thanks so much! may I ask, I still dont quite get it. I do understand that you have a shared basic tree and some specialisation available. but at the 11:42min mark you said the points went up again, because you changed to weapon set 2 and since you firstly allocated weapon set 1 the points are available for weapon set 2 - however, the total still is set to 14? so it didnt went back up, which is what confuses me. If I have 5 skill points and I choose to allocate them in Weapon Set 1 I can also allocate 5 skill points on weapon set 2 - correct? and edit: I can only press X once when I have the skill tree open, I cant really switch between these two seemlessly. I would need to something like open inventory and manually changing the weapon set by pressing on it in the inventory, x just doesnt work(?). my understanding is that it should switch back&forth without problems.
I want to play as a mercenary with 2 crossbows. How do I assign the skills to each crossbow? I don't understand how to assign them yet. I can only shoot with my cold crossbow. Why is that and how can I make my other crossbow combat-capable?
God damn finally someone who actually can explain things....I got 85 hours so far and i had no clue how tf to allocate weapon set 2 skill points and ive only found out through your video...

He didn't really explain why that is beneficial in this, to be fair it's a bit confusing and easy forget others may not understand. In short If you spent points on one weapon set you don't have to spend them on the other weapon set. In his example he spent 6 global points on weapon set 1 and used 6 global points, then he pent 7 global points on weapon set 2 and only used 1 global point. If he was to have only spent 6 on weapon set 2, he wouldn't have spent any more for it, But this means he can spend one more point on weapon set 1 for free. What I don't know if the game remembers if you choose not to spend another point then come back later or if you can still use that free point with no global points left.

@DryBearGamer; another youtuber I follow stated that Weapon Set skill points work best when spent on leafs (the grouped nodes adjacent from stat nodes) - seems like ggg designed it like this.
So what’s the point in not putting into both if it’s using the global points? Then just set which weapon you want for each ability? There is only deficits to this way? They need to be extra points only for each weapon set to even have it.
Math isn’t my forte. But can we talk about how to know which weapons are worth investing into. I, overtime, built up my primary weapon to 20% quality which has increased it’s stats but its lvl 56. I am not lvl74 and I haven’t found a better weapon at base. However there have been a few that make me wonder if at 20% quality would it be better than my current weapon. How can I figure this out without having to waste my resources for science.
@@marcmuniz2119 that's what I did, it just seemed like such an insignificant increase that I thought maybe I was missing some other factors. it is also surprising that i found such a powerful item at such an early level
@ArtIsLifeninty i think you CAN just get that lucky in this game lol. I had the same weapon from 25-50 and just got something better almost twice the dps off a vendor gamble lmao. SSF tho. Trade is better than everything obv
It's just the base damage that gets increased. Take the weapon with the best modifiers for your build then upgrade that. Even if the base damage is a little lower, the better modifiers are more important
i still dont get it. :( but when u allocated the points in "the one hand tree" +6 and in the "two hand tree" +7 (total 13) it showed on the right top corner that u have 13 skills left to distribute. so you only used 7 skill points to set 6 + 7 skill points and u have still 13points left. it makes no sense for me. but maybe im just stupid idk. sorry for my bad english and thanks for any help:)
I feel like GGG reeeeaaaally needs to make that explicitly clear when giving out weaponset skill points, because I have been playing since day one and this is not only the first video that I've seen that explicitly calls it out, but also I NEVER would have picked it up otherwise. That's just... mind boggling honestly. I think most people assumed it was additional.
Why on console is it defaulting and saying the point is going into weapon set 2? I can’t change it to 1 or main. Just shows if I spend the point it goes into weapon set 2.
I don’t get it, why not just use the global skill points for everything then if there’s no real benefit of putting some points specific to one weapon. E.g. let’s say I use a shield and mace and crossbow, I can use weapon skill point into more crossbow damage but it doesn’t affect anything different swapping to mace if I used my global point. Or is there something I’m still not getting?
The weapon set skill point system seems pointless to me. One handed weapon nodes… will only effect one handed weapons… only way it would make an actual difference is if it didn’t take away from the global point pool.
Its not. I use a fire staff and an ice staff. So I have all my fire staff spells on weapon set 1 and my ice staff spells on set 2. So when I get a level up point, I can click on weapon set one in the fire tree and place a point, then with that same level up point, also pick a skill in the ice tree for weapon set 2.
@@Dave_Langer so what is exactly the benefit? if you can spend the points in both the normal way since you can swap weapons and the point will be active anyway
@@cafio0 I use a fire and an ice staff So when I get one point to spend on the passive tree if you use the MAIN option to spend the skill point I would have to either choose a fire or ice spell on the tree. Well here is the problem is it only hurts you… if you have gotten 20 points total, but have 8 weapon points. Let’s say you split them. You spend 4 on both and then 8 on each. Well all you did is nerf yourself because you could have put all 20 globally to the same points…. Then you just set the skills to activate on which weapon you want
@@CJWrexXthis is the part I can’t understand, cool to be able to do it but is it not just wasting global skill points overall? Also if I stick a totem in the ground with a bow skill and swap to crossbow, does swapping cancel the support gems from the bow totem?

Great Explantation, but it makes. Me curious to why bother. If it still uses the global points, you could just use those for the same effect? Except maybe for those nodes that give penalties to certain things.
right so like the example you gave with the two handed vs one handed, why not just apply it globally instead? as far as im aware that makes 0 difference
weapon set passives still don't make sense. If you were to allocate normally (globally) without choosing what weapon sets your character is still getting the passive buffs. But if you were to allocate to weapon sets 1 and 2 the stats insteads go to the weapons which in turn also grants you passives for your character so whats the difference? It’s kinda of like presetting two different builds with the Hooded One on the fly - Weapon set skill points basically makes your most used skills stronger. It's like I've locked myself out of the passive tree now. :( Also, I'm playing on Xbox and trying to do all this on a controller is not intuitive at all. Thank you to anybody who can help end my nightmare, so I can get back to playing the game.
As of now console players cannot allocate more that two skills which actually happen to come with those particular weapons, even if I swap weapons it doesn’t show stats reflected on the skill page for change up or down for damage, but pc players can click a button and it simply allocates that skill for that weapon set so u don’t even have to swap weapons but rather use the skill on ur main bar and it will use that weapon for that skill. Why console cannot do that I have no idea. ( if you know how to do this on console the way a pc player can let me know cause as of now we cannot allocate a skill for a specific wepon set, but pc can easily)
Yeah, I'm not understanding the benefit with the weapon set points. Why would I lock them to a weapon set unless for some reason it takes away from the other weapons that I use? There are very few passives that take anything away from a build. Usually they are very specific so I could seem this maybe being used for that, but that's about it.
Changes the tree according to a skill being used. You get 2 skill points that can be split into 2 for one set or 2 for the other set. This is intended to give incentive to use more than one weapon. And gives more nuance to builds.
i've tried making my own builds, but im not a "veteran" poe player, i've got 200hrs in poe 1 but we all know noone plays that game cause everyone but CC's have to follow guides cause noone is willing to teach u shit for a 10yr old game........iv'e got 100hrs in poe 2 and have yet to get past act 2, with my minimal knowledge i'm extremely getting locked out by not getting the runes i need or no currency to upgrade weapons or get slots, and also i've found alot of skills underwhelming at the beginning of the game.
That kinda blows(that they are separate), I reaaaally wish they were for the weapons and then there was standard skill points that are separate 😩 But thank you for clearing it up, I watched two other videos and they still didn't properly explain it in the way you did, so I was still confused.
Yeah I'll have to change my pathing if I wanted to run electric and grenade.. because I don't want to waste the amount I currently have , hopefully getting more set points soon.
You can use them as normal skill points, the set skill points allows you to split them to diferent sets. The book of specialization gives you 2 normal points and 2 set points for each set.
they need to make wep switching use a different hotbars & skills so i can use a ranged & melee setup. call me old fashioned but i think using 2 of the same wep styles is silly🗡🏹this is the only game iv ever seen that when i switch weps it doesn't reily switch weapons🤦♂🤷it doesn't make scents that it shares the same hotbar & skills pool. So what’s the point in not putting into both if it’s using the global points? Then just set which weapon you want for each ability? There is only deficits to this way? They need to be extra points only for each weapon set to even have it.
I think when they add the other classes , skills, and weapons the dual weapons will make a lot more sense and be a lot of fun.
Is +2 to projectile level good?
Math isn’t my forte. But can we talk about how to know which weapons are worth investing into. I, overtime, built up my primary weapon to 20% quality which has increased it’s stats but its lvl 56. I am not lvl74 and I haven’t found a better weapon at base. However there have been a few that make me wonder if at 20% quality would it be better than my current weapon. How can I figure this out without having to waste my resources for science.
I'm not sure, but isn't it just math? Just multiply the stat by 1.20 and that will tell you
Weapon level doesn’t matter it’s all about the modifiers
Brother, help me. I removed the second weapon from the skills list. My powers don't work. How do I add them?
I don’t get it, why not just use the global skill points for everything then if there’s no real benefit of putting some points specific to one weapon. E.g. let’s say I use a shield and mace and crossbow, I can use weapon skill point into more crossbow damage but it doesn’t affect anything different swapping to mace if I used my global point. Or is there something I’m still not getting?
Thank you, sir. Thank you.
Good info, thank you.
Excellent guide!
What is that 8(8)
Does it mean u can only have 8 skill point for weapon 1?
Great explanation. Thank you.
@@cafio0 I use a fire and an ice staff
So when I get one point to spend on the passive tree if you use the MAIN option to spend the skill point I would have to either choose a fire or ice spell on the tree.
But if I use weapon set 1 then weapon set 2 option, I can put that one level up point in both places in the skill tree since only one of them will be active at a time depending on which weapon set I am using.
When you use the MAIN option, its used on both weapon sets
Hope this helps
For anyone wondering why having such mechanics it's simple, u can have different skills for ex for clearing and different for boss fights, different passives for fire dmg + area dmg for clearing also stats in that particular weapon would be different.
Example Molten Blast for clearing, 2x 2h weapons with elemental dmg, passives for area dmg, fire dmg and whatnot, now You switch to another 2x 2h weapons with stats towards a skill that is better in single target DPS and you take those passives out for something better. There You go. I've seen couple builds on YT running two sets of weapons. It's not about WHY, it's about us the players having another options👍
@@CJWrexX It does not hurt you, it helps you, You are getting extra points when using weapon slot 1 and 2.
Swapping weapons on witch, unsummons your minions. The weapon set system as implemeted should be scrapped. It's overly complicated for no reason.
They need to do something about the minions unsummoning. Not a fan of how it's set up now it's all or nothing.
I love it. On my sorc, I have a scepter as my off hand weapon... So whenever I get overwhelmed by minions, I swatch weapons and the skeletons come and save me 🎉
"Here's an easily patched issue. So you see, the entire system should be removed."
This community is so dramatic sometimes
@@smokedks I tried doing the same thing(playing on PS5) but, I have been unable to use any skills that are attached to sceptres regardless of my strength, intelligence, or spirit. I gave up and just bought the skill with a stone and scrapped the sceptres.
It’s cool because it makes us think. Also get raise zombies
Superb explanations!
but were can i get the wepon skill points :D ?
I get a sense that the chonomancer ascendency could use weapon swapping to do absurd things.
I use a regular bow for ice attack, then crossbow for shotgun to blow up the frozen dudes... super fun
How you do it on ps5????
How do you do it on controller
yeah controller is way different and way more confusing
Trying to follow this while I'm working made me feel like that John C Reily meme... 😂
I’m missing something. What’s the point of spreading the points out between weapon sets 1 & 2 if you can just apply them overall and have the same on both sets?
I dont get it potato brain someone please help explain
It’s kinda of like presetting two different builds with the Hooded One on the fly - Weapon set skill points basically makes your most used skills stronger. For my merc, I look for all grenade skills for one of my weapon sets and then on the other I look for all projectile skills. This poe2 system is a lot better than poe1’s system.
@@Goochigoop lol, you spend normal skill point to a grenade skill, what disadvantage did your 2nd weap skill get for skilling this ? nothing, so weap set makes no sense. there are only a few points where you get something like -10% attack speed or something like that
Awesome video thank you it helped allot
That’s dumb. Why do I want to have less skill points on my build to gimmick out on some other weapon
Yeah lol why not just have regular skill points and both weapon set 1 and weapon set 2 will have the stats without switching between skill points
Playing on console XBX. I have zero skill points available, but weapon set 1 and 2 both say 2 of 2. Been like this for a while, I'm roughly lvl 20.
I play with controller but I wish I could access as much information as those who play on keyboard.
You can buy keyboards for consoles
@@mikeb1596 My guy, what makes you think I am playing PoE2 on a console? Does my name imply I am stupid? I play on PC, I just like how controller feels in the game. Its fun, if you haven't tried it, you should. It is a different challenge. GGG going to add hotswappable between inputs later, I think, but they should also work on a way to show all the same information as keyboard with a controller.
Im playing monk and im rarely getting quarterstaff drops i keep having to buy them and hope i get a good one. I get weapons for every other class while playing monk
I still don’t see why you would apply a mode strictly to one weapon if it will apply to it regardless if it’s applied globally.
Swapping between bow and bow doesn’t work for me
swapping to secondary (crossbow) is faster than reloading
Knife the watermelon.
Thanks!
OMG I thought they were additional points! Now I can rest easy knowing if I have 0 global points I cannot use them its just for special customization.
Nice video
I somehow managed to make all these broken paths in my tree and can now no longer progress down the path I want to. How on earth do I reset everything back to normal? It's driving me crazy.
Helpful 🎉
I understand the organizational part but there is no value to using weapon sets, only a possible penalty that I can see
okay now i get it, if you forego a global you get 1 passive per weapon set, maybe i missed where you said that
On ps5 you can’t get to the info button. It just shows you the skill icon ur over lol
I'm more confused why there are so many people who don't get how the Weapon Set passive works or its value. It's not a complicated system...
it is on console ha ha
Can you please make a video like this for console Its way different
so the weapon skillpoints aren't extra... mobalytics builder lied to me
i have electric and granade build at the same time
This game is very unexplained for consoles user still don’t know how to weapon swap on console ps5
Hope minions get reworked with this system
Maybe it’s obvious, but if it winds up being the same points, wouldn’t you get the exact same benefits from just getting the same nodes globally?
Yeah, I'm not understanding the benefit with the weapon set points. Why would I lock them to a weapon set unless for some reason it takes away from the other weapons that I use? There are very few passives that take anything away from a build. Usually they are very specific so I could seem this maybe being used for that, but that's about it.
How the heck do I apply Weapon Set points on console?! Dammit
Hope no one finds my dumb build. You'd think I'm a warrior but I'm actually a merc 🤣 gambled on the build and it works and it's Stoopid good
The tree is too big to search around looking for stuff... I'm doing good enough
Why would you ever use weapon set skill points instead of thr regular way
So you don't end up like people on Reddit complaining that they get swarmed when you could swap to a weapon to erect a wall or cc them.
Changes the tree according to a skill being used.
You get 2 skill points that can be split into 2 for one set or 2 for the other set.
This is intended to give incentive to use more than one weapon.
And gives more nuance to builds.
Never played poe, so a new player here, and now i want to smash my face into the desk. Thank you
i've tried making my own builds, but im not a "veteran" poe player, i've got 200hrs in poe 1 but we all know noone plays that game cause everyone but CC's have to follow guides cause noone is willing to teach u shit for a 10yr old game........iv'e got 100hrs in poe 2 and have yet to get past act 2, with my minimal knowledge i'm extremely getting locked out by not getting the runes i need or no currency to upgrade weapons or get slots, and also i've found alot of skills underwhelming at the beginning of the game.
thanks for this one buddy
so basically snapshot tree
it works on sorc but not on mercenary. it must be the whole stupid loading thing. what a dumb mechanic to begin with (loading).
I’m even more co fused
I still dont get it . The system is jacked . Also need console version
That kinda blows(that they are separate), I reaaaally wish they were for the weapons and then there was standard skill points that are separate 😩
But thank you for clearing it up, I watched two other videos and they still didn't properly explain it in the way you did, so I was still confused.
Weapon set allocation was explained with to much detail cave man no understand.
they need to make wep switching use a different hotbars & skills so i can use a ranged & melee setup. call me old fashioned but i think using 2 of the same wep styles is silly🗡🏹this is the only game iv ever seen that when i switch weps it doesn't reily switch weapons🤦♂🤷it doesn't make scents that it shares the same hotbar & skills pool. WTF devs play other games
Umm...what? 😵💫
Bleh... I'm half way through the video and I realize I have become disinterested and I closed the game, maybe I'll spend some time on it another day.
Yeah the system is stupid. Just another way for GGG to screw over the player base by trying to get them to play some overly complicated garbage.
