This is why I play the game tbh. I personally play the game to manage such aspects of the city (while trying to make the city as realistic as possible), where you build efficient intersections and public transport to reduce the traffic. It was refreshing to see a pro CSL player solve essential aspects of the game, in this cosmetic oriented gamers' community.
I loved your solution to the traffic nightmare, which was created unfortunately.
Way to go!
I love how he bulldozed some homes to make way for an exit ramp lol that’s the American way 💪😭. In all seriousness though, I loved how you reconfigured the highway interchange. Very creative !
Nothing creative about bulldozing people's home.
@@HoboTango it's called a videogame for a reason 😭😭
It's not the American way, he didn't demolished 20 homes and 10 churches
"just one more lane, bro, just let me have it" the episode
Edit: due to the amount of people who took it personally, I feel the need to specify that this isn't a personal attack on Imperatur. It's a joke. He's building a north American city so it's appropriate. Plus, it's a goddamn videogame, building more lanes WILL actually solve issues cause CS2 simulation might be deep but it's not THAT deep.
it actually fixed the problem tho?
@@faustinpippin9208 "induced demand" Wikipedia article be with you.
It always helps in a short perspective, usually a 3-5 year time scale. But it encourages more people to drive instead of using public transport, it encourages developers to build more low density housing farther from the city cause now driving is more accessible, it diverts funding from public transport development. So yeah, in real life it fixes a short term problem and pushes an even bigger problem of unsustainable development down the line for future generations to solve
@@mikedanilov8978
" But it encourages more people to drive instead of using public transport,"
you talk as if driving your our car is worse then being forced to take public transit....
"it encourages developers to build more low density housing"
you talk as if living in a big house (that you can actually own) with a big yard in a quiet place with nice air is a bad thing instead of being forced to live in a shoe box apartment that takes away 70% of your salary that will never be yours anyway and that is loud and sits in a city with stinky air...
" farther from the city cause now driving is more accessible,
its farther from the city because the land there is cheaper so you can have something better for less money....thats a great thing
"it diverts funding from public transport development."
you can just pay for public transport from tickets like car drivers mostly do for roads
even in NA many states have even 70% of their roads funded from personal car drivers
and if you knew about the fourt power law you would know that almost all road damage is done by trucks that transport stuff around and allow modern civilization to function, so even if roads arent 100% covered from persoan car drivers then thats a good thing because even if you never touched a car in your life then you still benefit from roads and (Police? Ambulacnes? fire trucks? your buses that ride on roads? all the important trades jobs that build your civilization? bicycles? pedestrian paths that are also included in road budgets?) public transport is just doing a specific thing for a specific group in a specific place at specific timetables
meanwhile roads can be used by anyone for anything at anytime
"So yeah, in real life it fixes a short term problem and pushes an even bigger problem of unsustainable development down the line for future generations to solve"
the biggest unsustainable development is big cities....
@@mikedanilov8978 Also, C:S2 was build by and was trained on US american city planners - it overemphazises solutions that make car traffic easier *by orders of magnitude* - so ofcourse the solution in game is "one more lane, bro". But reality doesn't work like that. (Much less if you actually care about the people who live where you bulldoze for a highway, but the US doesn't have that problem...)
@@mikedanilov8978you should know that this isn’t always the case + there is literally a massive floating metro line 40 yards from this intersection. this specific case doesn’t add more lanes to a highway it adds more lanes off a highway which again are two extremely different things. “but but the wikipedia article” try actually reading the sources linked in that article
9:48 Tip! Instead of removing those crazy U turns/ lane changes one by one, just click on the remove Unsafe button. Wayyy faster haha
in my experience, cars will still make those crazy turns when you use the "remove unsafe" button, just not as frequently. the individual lane guides just give a greater amount of fine control and vehicles tend to obey those better. ultimately i think someone who spends literal thousands of hours in the game like Imperatur probably isn't super stressed about whether something like that takes 1 minute to fix or 4 minutes lol
I've been watching your videos for a month but never commented until now. This is my first time, and I just have to say-your creativity is incredible! Everything you create is absolutely beautiful and perfectly executed. Keep up the amazing work!
Absolute madman. There is no one in the world better at CS than Imperatur. Just next level, every time.
11:12 you could make a cool skylight thing by removing regular intervals of those concrete slabs.
skylights with too many breakups are terrible on streets IRL. Looks cool during a sunset, but during mid-day and afternoon sun it makes driver's pupils constrict and expand rapidly in short succession and can lead to a few seconds of flash blindness or to Ganzfeld effect while driving. Can also trigger seizures in some people, so it's super dangerous in high traffic areas. It's only used if it can't be avoided and it can be guaranteed that there's a continuous area of light.
@NorthernBanshee hadn't considered that. Good poijts
I personally love it when you use concrete ceilings. It kind of cleans up everything while also giving a little vertical to the city. A way you could use it is say in the middle of a busy city there is a major highway that runs through it but above it is a concrete ceiling which may have pedestrian paths on it so people in the city can walk on top of the streets and highways in the city through this interconnected street paths. Something like connecting the downtown core you have been working on.
Builds like this are why CS2 will completely overtake CS1 whenever colossal finally has all their ducks in a row
i _wish_ i had traffic problems like you. i made the mistake of creating a pretty decent bus and train network so no one is driving so my roads are pretty traffic free.
Game is so boring now. traffic management was my favorite part of CS
Main reason I haven't bought cs2 yet.
"The best way to fix traffic is to demolish 2/3rd of the city with highways and make it 6 lanes" - USA (and probably Canada)
Only 6 is crazy, we gotta have at least 8 to fix traffic forever
@@Scrublord30 No 12 lanes, that will definitely fix traffic forever ;)
You might need to make an Underground Highway near the city center at some point.
Also if you’re running into power issues, it would be nice to build a power plant / industrial complex tile in one of your future videos
I'm having spaghetti tonight!
I absolutely love this series! Really makes me want to play Cities 2 again
looks great, love to see the trafic flow :D
Nicee build!!
Would love to see a traffic episode where you go around improving traffic and adding more public transport
Your art is great as always. I just want to imply that the way you play Cities Skylines is how CS2 ideally should work without mods and without all the meticulus thing that you did by stacking several objects. CS2 would be considered one of the best game if they allow normal gamers like me and the others allow us to build the things like you did in the vanilla edition.
You can make a pedestrian bridge going on top of the concrete slabs where you can turn them into mini parks as the pedestrian path leads up to the field
9:55 That truck 💀💀
I love the updated interchange, only critique is that I would make the highway bridge as a asymmetrical bridge, with 4 lanes coming into the updated interchange and 3 going away. Having one lane split to 3 is very uncommon in the highways I've seen, but having 2 split into 3 would work a tad bettet
I just can't help but notice, you really sound a lot like Evil Wurst, my favorite base builder in Rust.
incredibly inspiring work!
When I watch your videos, it makes me wanna play Skylines 2. But then I start playing Skylines 2 I remember why I don't play it. :(
when a city skylines player sees the average traffic in a Philippine city, it would either break them or have them wonder how it got so congested
A Spagethi Canon fix all Traffic
At 5:18 the two lanes going in to the intersection should really just be one, it seem overkill to have 2 lanes there cuz of the long ramp. It looks and feels a bit unrealistic and looks out of place compared to the rest of the build. Otherwise the flyover ramp looks good, keep up the videos love 'em.
Just add more lanes, trust me
Man, the high level flow does look good but when you're driving in it, wow it's scary. It's kill or be killed down there..! Though i think some of those steep off-ramps would be fun, just like shift into neutral and coast up to the stop.
Something about a German accent and doing engineering work that makes my heart warm
Maybe more local and distributor links over the river, while the bottle-neck has been cleared on the motorway there is still a limited amount of access points to the dense areas highlighted.
7:04 im not 100% sure but i think theres an extra node in the segment youre working on. Considering how short it is, that might lead to problems
10:02 6 Lane 2 Way going into Asymetric 8 Lane 2 Way branching off into a ramp of 3 lanes which splits into a 2 lane and a 3 lane 9:17 which the 3 lane-er splits further into a 2 lane to left and a 3 lane going straight, to which the 3 lane split right lane ending right before a sharp corner and the left lane starting from the intersection while also being unacessible by the ai traffic vehicles, to which the 3 lane split becomes a 2 lane to which they have to merge from the right and unable to access the left lane, so, visualy its a 3 lane going into 2+3, but functionaly its a 3 lane road that splits into 2 + 2 (2 left; 2 straight [ going right]) that still needs to merge again so it becomes 2+1, but the straight off ramp its a 2 laner that merges into a 6 lane 2 way 3:16; so from a 2 lane high speed off ramp merging into another 2 lane road, forming a 3 lane merge, 2+2=3....... Argh, why I even bother??... ain't like anyone its gonna understand my frustration of this junction and these mest up lanes....
another episode, another banger! at one point u and biffa fixing traffic?
Those changes did seem to be needed. The exit onto the expressway was a great idea, that seemed to help a lot! The lack of rail bridges makes things difficult but I like the arched road bridge technique, this particular case with the curved rail bridge doesn't feel quite right. Unfortunately I can't think of a good solution with the current assets, the pillars are beams would not fit very well either and likely look repetitive alongside the road segment.
great spaghetti 9/10
Thats.... Beautiful
Very funny hearing about your public transport woes because mine are the opposite. No one takes the bus and everyone loves taking my subway and tram, no one takes my regional train though. I wonder if this is accurate simulation and there is a reason for it or if it's just quirky and weird.
Hi Imperatur, longtime fan. Could you make a video with tips and tricks on the graphics settings and maybe the mods you use? When I get excited by your videos I boot up CS2, see a AA-mess with jagged edges and turn it off again. I'm doing something wrong but searching around didn't help my case.
I don't know why, but when there is traffic I always find it more realistic
I never fix it because of that 💀
Maybe but on the highway it looks a little bit odd. At least in Europe you won’t see huge traffic on highways or expressways
yea, cant be said in america and canada, highway traffic is very common for some reason 😅
@@ytdanytevero have u ever been to Paris ? I can guarantee you that there is a LOT of traffic there 😅
@@ytdanytevero wait what? No traffic on highway in europe? I can atest for germnay; we have very regular traffic jams mo-fr during rush hours.
@@evergreen5795 Yea but I cannot belive that they are as big as those in american cities like Houston or L.A. 😭
Hast du zufällig irgendwo eine Modliste?
Wie platzierst du die Häuser einzeln?
Weiter so! Bist eine echte Inspiration!!! 💪🏼
Bro, the road bridge under metro track is visible on the interchange
I love your channel but I can't find the first video of your city 😢
Great fix but ironically dented the realism a touch... love that change of the tied arch road bridge for it to become a metro bridge. I'd love it if we could have just flat-bedded bridges that we lay whatever network we wanted over though... maybe that's part of the first DLC?
Not sure it takes away from the realism necessarily. Ever come into Miami on the I-95 intersection with I-395? Everytime I thought "no-one would build that in real life" I've come across it sooner or later. :D
@@_jiba_ It was more the rush hour queuing traffic I was referring to rather than the final engineering... which I love.
I just wanna say CO’s claim of better traffic AI path finding a load of BS. Every city I build the Cims use only one interchange… I even use image overlay and built about 6sq/miles of suburban Denver focusing on the I-25 and I-225 interchange… but Cims would rather use neighborhood roads… or walk 7 miles round trip.
Yuuuurrrr 🤙🏾🤙🏾
what mods did you use?
Yeah same here. What mods are you using?
I would like to know your entire list of mods that allow you to build in this way, and also the list of colors... because your city has much better colors than those in my game. Do you have a video explaining this?
I'm not sure but I've heard that he has all that on his patreon
Please share the mods here, because patreon is not available in my country.
What mod do you use to manipulate props, from horisontal to vertical ?
Is there a way to have all the mods you are using aswell? Did you do a list somewhere?
I have a question: how did you build the surfaces on the road?
Cs2 has barely any traffic.they Missed the whole point of why cities skylines was popular. No one wanted realism at the cost of performance. All they wanted was to be able to make bigger cities with bigger traffic.
Watching it while stoned
The metro/road bridge looks really bad with the road visible under the metro line. Get better soon ;)
Your game looks very realistic, could you share your graphics settings please ❤❤❤
hey, what mod are you using for the custom concrete blocks? any other recommendations for simmilar props?
ok but my question is how tf aren’t your cims constantly doing u turns on your median-less highway
Must have spaghett
Ey, hast du irgendwo eine Liste mit allen Mods, die du benutzt?
Where to find your modlist?
Waiting for him to stop adding one more line
what is your ticket price for transit?
I set it to2$

I wish the traffic simulation wasn’t so bad
Pls make eastern eurpoean pack video
I ahve a road with 1000 cars at peak hours xDD
Vielleicht kannst du helfen.Seit vorgestern verschwindet bei mir die komplette Werkzeugleiste und alle Werkzeuge.Spiel läuft weiter aber eben ohne Werkzeuge.Woran kann das liegen?

It is complex, but not so aesthetically pleasant as you usually do. I guess this kind of "engineered" cities were common in the 80's, maybe you can adapt it in a more ecofriendly way later on.
i love your videos and building style and all but your music choice is so terrible it'd be better to have the timelapses on mute
Bro mal ehrlich arbeite mal ein bisschen an deiner Aussprache. Da bekommt man ja Krebs beim Zuhören. Ansonsten absolut genialer Content!
what is it with europeans and choosing the goofiest music possible
I'll venture to say that it would be enough to eliminate the lights at this intersection and the traffic jam would have resolved itself. In my city, I don't have any lights anywhere and traffic is fluid.
ok that is ugly for a change
