- Oh this was such an enjoyable trip! Join me on an overnight to test out my new hot tent- the one I'll be taking to the U.P. on our new property! It's get's plenty cold and me and Maysie Daisy (DA WOOF) cook our food over a campfire and soak up the silence on a winter wilderness camp out. This hot tent thing.... I could get used to it!

I have noticed throughout many years of camping that regardless of where you sit around the fire, the smoke will always drift right into your face.

I noticed that while camping as a kid. We used to say "smoke follows beauty (and the reply was Beauty was a horse!)
We always say, "smoke follows beauty, you're beautiful!"
Wherever you sit, you make a plume of warm air rising, which sucks in the smoke.

not sure how many of these I have re-watched: but too bad; is good. in a way am sorry not there though part of me is, as i love some of such life. the series has now changed: and i'm looking at your bell tent which i checked price up today to find 2nd hand one for $300. anticipating 4th return trip to where my mum was born on an island where might have to camp out a bit: and there won't be a fancy tent but my basic 2 person tent with a fire in there and maybe get away with an outdoor fire. take care.

Absolutely I'm sure that most people that are in the wilderness like this have some sort of weapon. Only a really crazy person is going to go into the woods where there may be bears or wolves or coyote you need a gun. And West Texas in the summertime you would need one for the snakes

There once was a girl who loved the woods,
In the darkness of winter she went,
With a few homely goods,

To remind us all of the glory of nature,
To be by herself and breathe the fresh air,
She gathered wood and sat by the glowing fire,
There they supped with nary a care.
A cup of warm cider and hot food in her belly,

I've been in quarantine for over a year now. Living off zoom and food deliveries really suck. Being stuck indoors really suck! You bring the outdoors to me while I sip coffee at 4:30AM on my office chair. Thank you for this! It has definitely been keeping me sane.
for me from and living in nz: i don't get the 1yr quarantine; as never heard of that before, though of course i have heard of covid and had it and thinking of testing myself now as been yuck today.

My mom is 85 and living alone I’m retired now so when she asked me to come take care of her in her golden years I was honored mom still lives on the reservation and we camped all the time back in the day .my wife has never been camping so it’s going to be fun I’m planning on a summer and winter trip hope my old body can handle it . I like spaetzle with a jagersnitzl. That is a hunters schnitzel with mushrooms. Almost what you cooked in the trip. I assume you know what a schnitzel is. If you don't there are instructions for cooking one online. I think a schnitzel could be cooked on a campfire.

Yes seen quite few warning lately coyotes are bad.carry off your small dogs or cats if out side especially at night or if have big dog they get one of there pack members to get your pet to follow after it whilt it leads tor dog right to the pack and then they gang up on your guard dog.

I live in the country and there are more cows than people. For me it’s not the silence that I crave, it’s being able to hear the things that matter. Crickets frogs, owls, a million diff songbirds. It’s people silent but not nature silent. 😊
I love your videos, Brooke! When you made your coffee, I noticed you drank it black. I've always tried to do that, but I just can't. I'd probably have to make a third sled trip just to haul my creamer and sugar to the tent! :)
Small cans of sweet condensed milk is easy to haul and a concentrate so stir in less.

For years we camped 10 months of the year (once a month). As enjoyable as the summer was, the winter was just as special. You might say magical, as it truly is like no other time.

Love that tent, have never seen one like it. Looks like you will be as comfortable as possible. My wife grew up in the UP. We live in Dallas and if the temp is lower than 60 she is freezing. Not sure how she survived the winters in the UP. We are looking for land in Michigan. Thx for your video. My condolences on your loss.

LOL !! You eat better in the middle of nowhere than I do at home ! Your'e a good cook too !
To clean my dishes I have a long handle spoon with a silicon edge that acts as a pretty efficient scraper. Then I use a baby wipe to wipe out the dish with a little warm water. Then rinse with the hot water. I put the used wipe for dishes in a ziplock bag. Depending on what I ate I may reuse the rinsed out wipe. Hot cider and NZ choc sounds delightful.
Nothing like a great dog , good hot food , warm fire and a great tent and most of all "GOD" to make the world go away ....❤ . Whittaker chocolate is awesome !!
