    ...so much so that, my ignorance and lack of interest towards certain topics have now become those I love...Thank you for your work🙏...wish school taught us half as good as these guys do!

    Iceland has almost 100% renewable energy (well, they still use fossil fuels in transport, about 15% of total energy), but while wind and solar are forms of renewable energy, almost all renewable energy in Iceland is hydropower and geothermal, with almost no wind or solar whatsoever. In the video it is said "Almost 100% of electricity came from renewable energy, like wind and solar". The intended meaning was probably "Iceland has a lot of renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy that is renewable and not produced from fossil fuels. For example, wind, solar and hydro power are forms of renewable energy." However, the perhaps unintended implication of the way it was described in the video is that Iceland's renewable energy is wind and solar and hydro, which is incorrect.

      You did a great job of clarifying that!

    I hope there's an episode talking about how far-reaching the impact of geography can be in different areas of the planet. I kept thinking that with Iceland here: How much does what they do (and what we don't do in the US, for example) affect these different physical geography spheres in other parts of the world?

    What's the relation between physical geography and geology?
    As a geology student, I found many of the topics showed in this video also related to geology. Is there an overlap between both fields of study or just a different way of interpreting things?
    Hi from Brazil!

      Spatial patterns, rates of change, and the specific role of water and wind and life as agents are relatively more important in traditional physical geography; eventual outcome, permanence, non analogies, repetition, cyclicities, and the specific roles of lithics... Are relatively more important in traditional geology. Otherwise there is massive overlap and both are disciplines of Earth Sciences (in plural)

    • @kimbouley
      @kimbouley 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I believe there is overlap. I am currently studying Geography, but in my course load have also taken Geology classes as well.

      @harmrozema3330 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In principle, geology studies the hard bedrock and below. Physical geography studies the lose ground/soil and it's interaction with the other spheres (atmo, bio, and hydro)

    This video celebrates Iceland's use of clean, renewable hydroelectric power, and rightly so. However, never forget that the dams generating this power severely impact the lives of river wildlife. There's always a dark side.

    • @patrickmeehan6856
      @patrickmeehan6856 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. The Icelandic government hasn't updated their info since 2014 apparently, but it mentions that 66% of its primary energy use comes from geothermal and 20% hydro. nea.is/geothermal/

    Air, Water, Stone, Life. Long ago the four spheres existed in harmony, but then everything changed when the biosphere attacked. The only one who could stop them was the Geographer, master of all four spheres, but then the world needed her most, she vanished... wait wrong show.
