I remember hearing the AI is actually making every single NPC's voice sound completely different. Mind = blown.
They’re also using voice modulation to create multiple voices out of one ☝️
This may very well be the first Ubisoft game I buy in a veeery looong time. I love the gameplay concept of having a fluid protagonist.

Apparently, they'll have 12 (main) voice actors but pitch-shifted and voice-modulated to spoof tons of different types of characters. Obsensibly you can have 2 characters with the same VA talking to each other. The thing is, how will they be able to create procedural writing to make good on that?
I guess we'll soon see. It seems like a big task, but I guess every character type would have lines relating to every other character type, even their own. As well as dialogue for missions and random encounters.
I don't see it being a very difficult task to pull off, just INCREDIBLY an time consuming one.
What they showed was good though, even the cutscenes. I can 100% see them pulling it off. I just hope it doesn't get delayed, this is the first Watch Dogs I might actually enjoy.

i wonder if the tone of the game can shift depending on who you play as. Like dark if you play as a retired assassin, or upbeat if you play as a gangster dude.

@@femtokun Here's an example of someone who is just as oblivious to reality as zealous fanboys, only he's on the opposite end of the spectrum. WD2 was marketed exactly how the game was, as well as literally every other title that came after it. The downgrade fiasco was half a decade ago and Ubisoft have made amends, get that through your head.
@@americafuckyeah4520 People don't have a problem with the game, they have a problem with the developer's lies. Usually the demos shown at shows like E3 are heavily scripted and the graphics shown are very badly downgraded at release. The games were ok.

IF this game is done right, it could rival pretty much every game that comes out in 2020. Even Cyberpunk. Probably not in terms of the story though

I'm seriously wondering how big this game (file size-wise) if EVERYONE truly has their own origin story and you can recruit them ALL to be part of the resistance
They'll have a pool of backstories/voices that they'll pick from when you recruit someone new. It'll appear like everyone is unique until you do a replay and start noticing duplicates. They'll also have some generic ones to choose from in case you go crazy and try to break the system by recruiting too many.
I don't know for sure, but I'm relatively certain that there is a fixed number of character types.
It's not any different than the false god of "procedurally generated content" that games are always chasing after. It SOUNDS like "endless new content", but in reality it's just a skeleton on which lots of different skins and content can be placed.
For instance, I'm sure you can have a team of all old ladies... but it will really just be the "old lady build" with a different text assigned to the variables.
Hhmmm makes sense. Probably have some sort of array of stories and then just randomly pick one from there.

Unless there's a HORRIFIC fuck up at the last minute of this games' launch, this might be the very first Watch Dogs game I'll purchase.

I'm curious how many npc's there are in London if every one of them is completely unique.
It's like making main and side characters for a game but instead of 10 to 20, you have to make as much as the number of npc's in an open world game. That sound insane.
I'm pretty sure they're gonna use a lot of shortcuts to make the uniqueness as believable as possible.

There's just one problem: Ubisoft. This trailer promises A LOT but can they live up to it? I'm sensing huge downgrade potential.
You have to remember that we're close to moving into a new generation of games, where things like this is what's going to be possible. Ubisoft had had a dev kit for quite a while now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're creating this with PS5 in mind.
This doesn't mean it won't be amazing on PS4 Pro, but rather that games that are pushing these boundaries are definitely being created with the upcoming generation as a main focus... because, well, that's what all that hardware is for; huge step up in physics, AI, the creation of believable worlds, and much more. This is all really exciting, and I'll definitely be grabbing Watch Dogs: Legion at release... especially with how PS5 is fully backwards compatible with PS4 (which is great as I own tons of physical games).
@@thewarriors3048 My main concern isn't things like graphics. Sure, that could easily see some downgrades but it won't matter too much. No, I'm concerned about the number of unique characters they promise and the story telling tied to that. It's not a matter of power, it's a matter of time.
I agree that what we see now looks really promising but I don't understand why anyone would decide to get games after just a trailer, long before its release. It's not like they are gonna run out of copies.

I still think it's funny as hell that Ubisoft - the company behind this game allegedly "tackling" the struggle against an authoritarian surveillance regime - bowed to and apologized to China when facing criticism that one of their ads could be seen as support for the Hong Kong protesters. "We're not political, we promise! Please give us your market share!"

This game looks awesome but I'm frustrated at how easily the Allies buy into what is CLEARLY a BS trailer for the game. You may be able to play as every single character in the game, but that's not really different than what Syndicate was doing in, like, 1991. What matters is how many UNIQUE REPRESENTATIONS of characters there are. There is a scene in the trailer where a character is jump kicking an enemy in slow motion and the skin swaps in and out showing the many different characters you can play as. But that's honestly probably the truest shot in the whole trailer. It's just swapping out skins on what are probably a half dozen, maybe a dozen, different character builds.
I'm not saying the game doesn't look good. But I am saying that this trailer was about as dishonest as the Watchdogs 1 trailer.
prob like 20 different variations of specific characters and the rest are just reskins, for instance lets say like 10 different granny skins in the game but they all have the same animations and voice lines... Not bad I appreciate the innovation but it not like every single character is completely unique where they have totally different things from every npc in the map, that would be borderline impossible.

Like they built a real world. That's just a lie. I understand that a huge chunk of creating a game is creating an illusion, but I feel like they are just misrepresenting what is technically possible.
@@JazGalaxy I wouldnt say its a lie look at shadow of war every uruk is different from the rest, sure some same same skins and patterns but in terms of the name, voice, title, and abilities none are the same if they could do something similar to that they technically arent lying. Even if they have a limited number of voice actors/animations as long as there are a good number of them I feel like the game would be great and it already looks good,

@@forgemaster6120 Maybe I'm being overly pedantic about what it is that they are saying about the game. I agree with you about the Shadows or Mordor thing. That's exactly what I think this will be. But even given that, I feel like it's a lie when they say you can be be a gun wielding 20 something, an ancient old lady, "and everything in between". I strongly feel like they are overpromising what can be done in a crafted way. I believe you can totally get a randomized set of categories that creates a "unique" individual, but they will ultimately be vacant and sole-less once you play enough of the game to understand how the strings work.
But what do I know. I haven't played it. It DOES look good, though. And they have all my love for showing what looks to be actual gameplay instead of a movie.
Will it look like this on launch though?
Considering the graphics are already showing issues and dated textures it'll take nothing to make it look like this at launch. In fact it'll have to look better than this.

Fuzzy Dunlop Every other major production from Ubisoft for years has had a MP component, including the last two Watch Dogs games. Just because they didn’t go into too many details about this game doesn’t mean this won’t have one. They barely scratched the surface of the game focusing on setting, story, and what is new for this iteration.
Ubisoft’s history and trends suggest there is little chance this game won’t have a MP element.
Edit: And not a day after my comment everyone is reporting the MP component for Watch Dogs Legion exists as well as the game’s official page. Maybe it is you who haven’t been paying attention to Ubisoft?
