Every member of Bon Jovi experienced heartbreak or divorce in the 80's because the band was always on the road while the women stayed home... At some point, women get tired of waiting at home and decide to leave... find someone else... And the men are on tour and getting a phone call, and they can't do anything about it 💔
Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi had his longtime girlfriend Dorothea, and when Bon Jovi took off on tour in 1984, She and Jon broke up... He dated some Hollywood celebrity women for a few years, but at some point, he went back home to her... They married in 1989 and had 4 kids together and are still together. The other members of Bon Jovi were not as lucky in love...
They don't make Rock ballads any more. You can't have great 80's Rock without Bon Jovi.

Check out Girish And The Chronicles. They are more Hard Rock/Metal band though, but still have some good ballads.
Sambora had a really underrated voice in this era. Probably because he was such a stellar guitarist. Great song. One of the better rock ballads

This is one of my favorite power ballads ever! The guitar parts and vocal harmonies make it really stand out, especially that scream at the end. Also, it's kind of weird to think that all the people in the video are now in their 50s-60s 😱

Bon Jovi was the first rock concert I ever saw, I was about 14 years old. It was a few years before they did this song. They weren't superstars yet and they were opening up for the band Ratt. Of course, at that time, most people were there to hear Ratt sing "Round and Round."
The pretty girl you saw at the end of the video got the same Superman arm tattoo as the singer. Jon was obsessed with Superman and he used to show his tattoo on all their posters.
Tajes me back to highschool ( yes, im an old man). Great stuff. This album has no bad song on it. And this song was a huge hit and was a great rocking romantic song.

Johnny Bonny! I always saw this as that "sorry babe for being on the road so long, and sorry for what happened on the road, but I'm home now, and if you'll still have me, I promise that I'll be there for you from now on" song. With a mug like that, I'm sure it worked.
no mistake richies backing vocal is the cream on the cake for sure,brilliant composition of a song.
Ive seen them 5 times in concert. Every time they get to this song, it was Richie Sambora, the guitarist, singing and not Jon. Still always a great performance. Other songs I recommend are Bad Medicine, Born to be my Baby, and Have a Nice Day. Awesome reaction Biss ❤👏
Did you know that Jon Bon Jovi marriage is a rarity in the music world? He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, in 1989, till today. The same partner since adolescence.
The power ballad was definitely a huge part of the 80's rock scene, and Bon Jovi were probably the kings of that particular niche. Being born in 83, a lot of my childhood involved hearing a lot of their music lol.

Amazing song and probably my fav Bon Jovi ballad! That scream!! I like when he says “I’ll steal Sun from the sky for you” but in another song “ I want you”, there’s a line “ I never wanted the stars, never shot for the moon, I like them right where they are” . Always made me laugh. I have always been a fan of power ballads , 2 favs being Bon Jovi and Def Leppard but to me, Bon Jovi has always stood out because the lyrics remind me of like reading a poem. This is rock poetry at its best! 😊

Saw this "New Jersey Syndicate Tour" April 26, 1989 at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles, CA. They were on top of the music world at that time. There were so many girls acting like crazed animals. They were crying, screaming, passing out and many threw panties on the stage. It was complete utter madness. When they did this song, many girls were no longer in control of themselves. It was astonishing to witness.

I'll Be There For You is one of the best ones from the 80s. Always is beautiful but the video doesn't suit it at all.
Some of my favorite ones that don't have music videos include Complicated, Luv Can, Bullet, Any Other Day, and This Is Love This Is Life, and We Don't Run to name a few. 😂
