  • THIS PROPERTY IS NOW SOLD.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a property in this historic location adjacent to the Mojácar Fuente and Art Gallery.
Originally constructed in 1970, the property was occupied for many years before being vacated and left to fall into disrepair. That was until 2019 when the current owners purchased it and have made a total refurbishment of the house with a mix of sympathetic improvements retaining original features, and more modern day installations making into a comfortable character property.
For our British house hunters I can tell you that I felt a mixture of being Kevin McCloud fromm “Grand Designs” and George Clark from “Big Little Spaces” when the owners asked me to visit them. Having seen the property at its worst I was not certain what I was going to see on my return. However, the result is superb.
The owners have invested considerable time and money in the refurbishment. The list of works include having new electrics and plumbing, a new kitchen and two bathrooms installed, redesigning the layout and maximising on the space and of course, the paint rollers and brushes have been out too!
The overall result is a property that can sleep 6, or 8 if you wish to use the futon in the dressing room / third bedroom; that has a generous sized kitchen; two bathrooms; three reception rooms and a courtyard to the rear.
The property of 134m² construction is built over two floors with a further 50m² solarium on the second floor.
The ground floor, as already mentioned, has three reception rooms; the first being at the entrance and is where the current owners chose to dine.
Behind this room is a central reception room that gives access to the third reception; the kitchen; a bedroom and a bathroom.
The third reception room, with shuttered windows that take glimpses of the art gallery opposite, is utilised as a cosy reading or television lounge.
The bathroom is fully tiled with a large walk-in shower, toilet and basin and has the first of the double bedroom adjacent to it.
Another of the major installations was the kitchen, which has been made into a galley style to best utilise the space and as a result has enabled to fit an American style fridge freezer and a 6 ring gas hob and oven.
Passing through the original style barn door there is a courtyard with part whitewashed walls and is a lovely quiet spot in which to get away from it all. A utility cupboard has also been installed to house the washing machine and an exterior shower could be reinstated, although, now with two showers inside it is probably not necessary and could be developed into a storage cupboard.
Moving up the stairs you arrive at a landing area off which there are two bedrooms to the south side of the property, both of which have Juliet balconies and views of the Pueblo in front and the Mediterranean in the distance to the left.
The third bedroom on this floor is used as a dressing room and it too has a Juliet balcony overlooking the courtyard.
The last of the big installations was the second bathroom, which, like the ground floor one is fully tiled with a shower cubicle, toilet and basin; and has an independent gas hot water boiler.
Stepping out from the landing at the rear of the property there is a terrace which looks down to the courtyard, and a staircase leading up to the solarium from which the views just get even better.
This character property is probably unique in this location and the way that it has been reformed. The thick stone arch topped openings, wood beams and quirky low frame wood doors have been beautifully retained keeping the character and authenticity of the house.
It is truly a pleasure for us to bring this property back to the market place again.
