Is it me, or does there seem to be a theme with the type of African Americans that go to Japan? or at least the ones that have always been featured in this channel. Just something I've noticed. Maybe it speaks to something deeper emotionally and mentally....maybe.

Us filipinos are diverse! We are dark-skinned originally and a lot of us still are, but media like to portray we are mostly half white (NOT true).... we were natives in a land that was colonized so eventually tribes tried to protect their culture by moving to the mountains where they are isolated. Still a lot of us tribes left today, some evolved, some the same, a lot in different dialects too. sorry for the mini history lesson on my culture, hope u found this interesting :)

I just left Okinawa, my husband was stationed on Camp Schwab and then Camp Hansen. We’ve been back in America for 3 months and yes I miss Oki!! I told my husband when he retires let’s become DODEA school teachers and go back there! It’s beautiful, it’s clean, the scenic views, and Oh my goodness The Children’s Parks!!! They think of it all when it comes to the kids. She’s right the old Okinawian people are super sweet. I miss the safety of the city and I miss the easy travel to other countries. I’ve been to South Korea, Tokyo, and the Philippines for a few hundred dollars from Oki. Okinawa will always have a place in my heart.

I was stationed in Sasebo from 2006-2010. It's, in fact, the safest place I've ever lived! I never experienced one instance of anti-black racism. I even went on deployment for 5-6 months and forgot to look my front door. Nothing was touched. And white beach in Oki is crazy beautiful....you can see the ocean floor from the pier!

@twofacedladyjj 42 , They are so radiant and a beautiful happy couple . I teared up watching this because I helped my siblings putting their children through college, medical dental school etc, and they are now starting their own families [ I am a grand aunt of 9 sweet peas ] Long term relationships with men I helped with their children as well...fast forward I have nothing material to show for decades of hard work. I would have liked to know if Anquinette found it easy regarding employment on Okinawa, or is it suited for military families only? I am single college educated African American female, I lived in New York my entire life, decades in corporate and then my own business. Unfortunately I lost everything due to a predator...I don't want to be here any more [literally] , depressed etc. If I relocated I would have to earn a living. I am an accountant by profession 24 years , and had my commercial snow removal business for 22 years. I have travelled internationally and here in New York , love to go upstate to Saratoga to SPAC for Freihofer Jazz Festival, camping for weeks upstate in the Adirondaks either in a tent or lean to structure...the landscape in Okinawa seems so serene and peaceful. Please reply as to whether you think an African American college educated older woman can start over in a foreign land. Thank you.

A 65 year old man was shot to death by police in the Philippines last month because he didn't have his mask (blindfold) on. They're wildin' out down there, backwards ass government. Age of consent is 12 which leads to exploited children, prevalent sex tourism, single child moms all over the place, no birth control or right to choose...women have it very rough there. It's a shame that they're always in such social and economic turmoil, it really is a beautiful place.

The little car she drove was a K11 Nissan Micra or March. Quite popular in Japan, UK and third world countries. The little SUV is a Suzuki Samurai, based on the Suzuki Jimny. Lots of offroad guys in the US would just love to get their hands on the Jimny. The car Mr Lewis owns is a R32 Nissan Skyline with the RB26TT engine.

    • @panama8009
      @panama8009 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The truth is happiness starts from within your inner self.. Not necessarily where you live or travel. It seems some black people always expect red carpet treatment going elsewhere and if they don't, it's racism. Yes, the States have that disease but you can even go to other black countries and receive the same hatred. It is nice this couple are enjoying their lives in Okinawa, but happiness starts with you and not from how others may perceive you. There will always be some form of prejudice wherever one may go.

Love them and can definitely relate. July will make 2 years of me living in Vietnam. As an army brat who grew up in Germany, it was always so hard for me going back to the States. Deciding to live as an expat has been the greatest decision of my life. My only regret is when I got out of the Army myself, that I didn’t leave America right away. I stayed trying to live the American dream as a civilian. It was a waste of a few years. I don’t think I will ever permanently live in a America again, and that decision comes easy. There is nothing there for me. There are so many beautiful, safe, and more welcoming countries in this world that can also become home. Wishing this lovely couple the best.

Okinawa was on my bucket list way back in 1985. So Feb 2020 I treated myself to an amazing birthday gift for the big one. My Tokyo visit had a 3 day stopover in Okinawa. Flew YVR-HND overnight then hop-on a 9am to OKN for a very short 3 days stay. If I didn't have to see the grandbabies in Tokyo, I would have stayed longer. I understand this couple's love for this island. Ronzo man, we gotta move there!! I picked up real estate info. I returned home and started planning my retirement,. Once I have housing. the rest will be fine. As I'll be having lots of visitors. Love this Island and people.
To note, I swore it was Obama talking to. I closed my eyes and the guy's voice. WoW, sounds like Barack. Another great 👍 one.

I think as an African American, I have learned to have so much inner peace that it has helped me navigate peacefully through life, however I have heard beautiful testimonials of African Americans who have traveled outside of USA and able to, like this couple, experience outward peace, which is a higher and greater level of living, it's great seeing and hearing about the experience! Why would you want to return to USA, other than to visit? Keep enjoying the good life, that's what God intended!

@TheSeductiveArts Honestly, I've been so ravaged by this system that I don't know if my mental can muster the strength. I can't even get out of bed these days.
The magnitude of what's taken place hits my gut so hard; I'm overwhelmed with the awareness of the traps.
If you only knew how much as a single black woman, how much I have been STRIPPED of everything. What family didn't take, a downlow grown boy wormed into my life took. What he didn't take, a childhood friend stole. What she didn't take, a neighbor burglarized. What they didn't get a landlord stole. It goes on and on...the tangibles and intangibles. There's a universal crisis of integrity going on here. That's what the USA breeds - corruption and thievery. Individuals and institutions alike. Anyone with a hallmark of purity is at risk of being ravaged here; considered a mark. This county is the Devil's den.
I'm so tired. My passport, college degree certificates, my reputation (they lie, attack your character, and become allies to split the spoils amongst them), and my peace has literally been stolen.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick. All that effort, focus, study, working, and planning has left me unable to fend off the wolves.
I'm roadkill at this point. I want to pick up and try again but my heart; it's tired.
But I pray and I share; be careful who you let in your mind, heart, in your home. Grace is the only hope and even then your lot in life may be to know the Devil lives amongst you.
If your family, friends, spouse, community, city, state, and country belong to darkness, your light is a battle cry. Be careful. Walk alone, before you're swallowed whole.
That's what I have to share at this point.
May God be with you and Jesus within. This is my solace and what's left of me to offer.
Get out of the USA! Don't wait. There's nothing here worth salvaging. It's evil. Just go. Get your education, relationships, and personal development elsewhere and build there. Anywhere! But leave while you can and don't look back.
This country and Seattle in particular is today's Babylon. All the corrupted, sexually deviant, racists, and materialists hunt the decent here. It's such a wicked trap place, this country. Evil.
I'm not crazy. I'm sharing my truth. I don't indulge in alcohol, drugs, or self pity.
I'm a spiritual, educated, and kind person.
I'm moved to tell anyone who's willing to read this - lest you wind up like me. Stuck, ravaged, and broken.
The writing is on the wall. The Devil built this lie of a country.
