Why people don't understand that about a celebrity whose gone through drug addiction. Maybe it's the way the media has painted them out to be some egotistical, miserable soul whose failures we are all waiting to hear about. Stevie always had a happy, sweet disposition! His addiction may have hindered it at times. But I believe his inner light also shined just as bright & is a big part of what got him through rehab & why he triumphed! But yes, his happiness & light never shined brighter than his post rehab days. It's that excited little kid way about him that still draws us to him today. He's kinda like the Peter Pan of Blues Rock!
He seems so happy here in this video. It is nice to see him this way after he got cleaned up. He's an inspiration for so many on both guitar and sobriety. He was living proof of the happiness that is gained from the clean life. So many words to describe: Pure, soulful, honest, witty, kind, generous, in touch with his feelings - and of course, a virtuoso that plays from his heart. These are the reasons why he continues to inspire so many of us. Live on SRV!
Perfectly expresses how he makes me and thousands of people feel. Thank you for this comment from ten years ago. I hope you are well and thriving. A fellow SRV fan from Texas.
This is the first SRV interview I have ever seen, and I just have to say that, number one, he just has the brightest smile, and number two, I didn't know he was so funny. Definitely going to start watching more interviews with this legend.
As an Aussie and fellow guitarist - probably the best video I’ve seen where Australian rules football has been cited as an influence for SRV making sounds ❤️
Thank you thank you thank you! for posting this. He was so dang cute, and so serene after beating back te demons! Still love Stevie as if he was still here, because he really is. Just can't get enough of this man and his music!
I enjoy this interview with the music legend Stevie Ray Vaughan..Stevie is a sensational talker and will take you places you never heard about..r you with me?
A wonderful person huge heart for everyone around him! Every time I hear him play I always say one day I’ll be that good. But he’s always got something I’m not ready for! I’ve been playing since I’m 6 years old on a toy just like him. My brother has a Gibson les Paul I would steal it and listen to him play and I would imagine myself as him and id close my eyes and air play till all at one id say Stevie your slick but Ik how you did it and id pause his music and play the lick that’s how I knew I had something I can listen to something and go wait wait he played it like this and my parents would smile and go wow! Srv died 5 years before I was born and he’s literally been my hero since I could understand what music was I listen to all kinds of blues but nothing makes me feel better and at peace when I hear him play. Sux bc id of paid big money for back stage passes. So I guess I’m the one guy who will never buy a back stage pass bc there’s no one in the world id of bought one for!
Why, why are you gone Stevie? Think if Stevie, Hendrix, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Albert King and those guys would have lived today. Think if everything would have gone the way it was meant to go. Think of all the amazing stuff they could have produced.
I believe he was the best guitar player ever here is how is believe so, if you take all the best players that are gone and even still living and ask them all to learn and play each others music Stevie rays is the only one that would be the most difficult his style his music would give them all a hard time.
Of all the incomplete SRV interviews out there this is the one I want to see the entire clip of the most. Can anybody help track it down? The original film must be much much longer than this
I have seen him in Germany in the early eighties at a rockpalast festival . It was Artie loss forme when he had this terrible accident, but stilltoday I am happy 5o watch him in a lot of TH-cam videos
Thanks to Stevie for the idea, I'll maybe try playing and watching tv with the sound off at the same time... the main problem is, I'm not into football at all :) Stevie is so nice ♥ wish I could play at the same speed
Stevie is sober as fuck here. He didn’t smoke cigarettes at this time. If you watch earlier interviews he would be gacked out. Sometimes you see him have to pause between words because he’s getting the cocaine nasal drain ( ah the old days ) he was into cocaine , speed and good old whiskey. He was clean, sober, happy and in love before he died. Very sad that it ended at the time he was the happiest in his life. Such a cruel twist of fate
I remember when I started playing guit I was obsessed with that strumming stevie has..at the beginning of the video.. (0:09) hitting the top e string on the down and the bottom e and b strings on the up (and doing a bunch of stuff in between of course) ... stevie rules
The interviewer sounds like Kurt Loder. He was with Rolling Stone magazine when Texas Flood came out and I believe he didn't have nice things to say about Stevie. Boy, how he had to eat those words!! That and you can he him doing his usual giggling every 5 seconds haha
I have been using 12s for the pat year mate, I have always had a high action, just on my SRV strat I have it higher than usual, when I say it hurts, I don't mean all the time, just after a few long hours of hard playing, and then I stop for an hour & it's fine to go again, I use a 54 Low E rather than 52, adds a little more thump, I use 11s on my les paul, as i don't trust those necks enough to us 12s, seen a lot of them break with fatter strings
He smiles like a little kid when having guitar in his armes...
a legend!
Eddie doin some blues!
Always smilin💯
He Smiled Like A Little Kid Mostly😄🤗😉
.......as if it's pacifier! A legend indeed! 🎸🎸
I always thought of stevie as a quiet and not talkative guy. never knew he such a happy guy.
He was clean and happy here, in a very good place.
Randal Yeah, he wasn't so happy before. This interview was after he got clean and sober.

Allegedly he had quite the eclectic sense of humor (alter egos in the band and whatnot).
Great to see SRV this comfortable, at ease compared to the earlier years....very humble gifted man!
💯❤!
1 minute 22 seconds of absolute beauty..
He seems so happy here in this video. It is nice to see him this way after he got cleaned up. He's an inspiration for so many on both guitar and sobriety. His smile is like thousand suns :D
Stevie was so youthful at heart.
youthful period. He died in his early 30's
He is a very gifted and most humble person. I know he passed away but I realize that he was and is still loved by many people and still has his fans.
first few seconds of this video, my jaw dropped, wow! SRV forever.
What a beautiful person. So humble and thoughtful. It's great to see how happy he is here. Great video to watch on Christmas
Man, seeing the simple joy having a guitar gives him brings tears to my eyes, and makes me reevaluate how much I should enjoy playing mine
This is the first SRV interview I have ever seen, and I just have to say that, number one, he just has the brightest smile, and number two, I didn't know he was so funny. Definitely going to start watching more interviews with this legend.
Pleeeease post the whole interview!!! This is a tease!!

When he plays the 12 bar in the beginning.... the sound is just thunderous. Wish Stevie was still here today.

Whoa, he's using the gypsy jazz rest stroke. I never knew he did that. Thanks for pointing it out, man!

As an Aussie and fellow guitarist - probably the best video I’ve seen where Australian rules football has been cited as an influence for SRV making sounds ❤️

Very grateful 🙏 Stevie was born, and shared his monumental talent with world 🌎 👏

Man, Stevie was great. It's a damn shame what happened to him. I really like this guy.
Makes me happy to see The Man so full of life after recovery.
What an awesome player
he is so happy in this clip. Stevie is awesome.
I enjoy this interview with the music legend Stevie Ray Vaughan..Stevie is a sensational talker and will take you places you never heard about..r you with me?
@coopwaldo the expression of his face, the wide smile, half closed eyes. Just reminds me of me and other people when we're high, that's it.
A wonderful person huge heart for everyone around him! Every time I hear him play I always say one day I’ll be that good. But he’s always got something I’m not ready for! The best ever!!
Love and miss you forever. SRV 💙
A very funny guy. He singlehandedly re-launched blues music to the world.
Dude, what I wouldn't have given to sit next to Stevie while he provided guitar for that Australian football match.
That would've been awesome!!!
Stevie died sober. How awesome is that! I sure hope I do to. Stevie died dignified and an eternal teacher
Why, why are you gone Stevie? Think if Stevie, Hendrix, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Albert King and those guys would have lived today. Think if everything would have gone the way it was meant to go. Think of all the amazing stuff they could have produced.
0:15 en verdad amo cuando hace esos yeites
God bless the one and only SRV. I’m pleased to say i breathed the same air as him….(Just wish i could play like him) 😊
Thank you, MBSRV, very many for this gem! I can´t get enough of SRV!
What kind of special once in a lifetime virtuoso he was❤
Amazing!! And as a SRV fan I still can't accept the fact that he's not here in this world with us.

Does anyone know where the rest of this interview is?
Wow. Great ! Thanks vm.
Great quality... thank you !

He had such a loveable smile and personality
His tone here sounds like the “SRV Speaks” tracks.
greatest of all time. period.
Of all the incomplete SRV interviews out there this is the one I want to see the entire clip of the most. Can anybody help track it down? The original film must be much much longer than this

Nunca eh visto este video, cualquiera que se topó con este tipo tiene una suerte increíble
love to see more of this dude!
Yes this is great. It's like getting to visit with the man himself. He was a humble kind happy person after he got clean .
@ sweddehli - Stevie tuned a half a step down & used very heavy strings (13, 15, 19, 28, 38, 58).
The rest is in his hands.
❤❤❤
Him noodling around in E is one of the best things i've heard in my life
he looks soo high there i love it :D
metlahead6 "drugs are cool! I'm only happy when I'm high so other people who seem to be happy must be high too!"

he makes me laugh in this video so much.

The interviewer sounds like Kurt Loder. He was with Rolling Stone magazine when Texas Flood came out and I believe he didn't have nice things to say about Stevie. Boy, how he had to eat those words!! That and you can he him doing his usual giggling every 5 seconds haha
I can't believe this interview was only 14 years ago
I have been using 12s for the pat year mate, I have always had a high action, just on my SRV strat I have it higher than usual, when I say it hurts, I don't mean all the time, just after a few long hours of hard playing, and then I stop for an hour & it's fine to go again, I use a 54 Low E rather than 52, adds a little more thump, I use 11s on my les paul, as i don't trust those necks enough to us 12s, seen a lot of them break with fatter strings
What a genius.
He made some fucking insane playing so easy......
I love this guy, fuckin helicopter ...
