Such a sweet man. On stage, he looks so badass that you think he's probably so mean, nobody can talk to him. But, his speaking voice is so humble and sweet. His smile is precious. This man is so missed. There hasn't been a great, mean, hard, soft white blues guitar player since he died.

Stevie, such a kind, gentle, sweet guy...The saddest day ever, hearing on the radio, riding round Dallas, my home town, about such a tragic gut-wrenching, unbelievable, news flash about his death via chopper running smack into a mountainside in the cold, dense fog... just upon leaving a concert.
Damn. How sad cannot be put into words...
The loss was so palpable. Every windshield in the State of Texas on Every road, read RiP Stevie, Love, love, miss you, so much love the ppl showed. Complete total disbelief. Everyone came unhinged. Then his packed funeral at I-35 at the cemetery, where you'll always find guitar pics on his grave.. Total respect by all... His dad buried by him in the family plot.... Its been at least 10 yrs since i was there, then left Texas...
STEVIE LOVED AUSTIN... AND BACK THEN IT WAS A SMALLER CAPITAL TOWN, NOT TOO BIG, LOTS OF MUSIC, Art, DRUNK SCENES, 6TH STREET BARS, EAST SIDE... STEVIE COULD BE AT PEACE OUT & ABOUT... BE HIMSELF.
★ BUT TODAY, AUSTIN IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE 70s, 80s, 90s... Extremely left wing politically in a conservative Republican Red State. He wouldn't recognize it today. Totally quatripled in size, population, traffic, a lot of big money, rich, way more greedy of a takeover.
Oh its beautiful, yes. Its in Hill Country. Lakes, expensive huge homes, high taxes, its grown immensely since SRV passed. He'd really be blown away, maybe in a good way. NOT SURE... Mayne not. He certainly loved it when he moved there in 72... But it was smaller, little more private, cool, & he felt peace & serenity... He wad a shy, private cat.😂 Especially with his new wife & home at the lake... He was a man in a happy time & place. 🍀
It ended way too soon... ★ He was mesmerizing on stage!
The one & only SRV, true Texan who loved his craft..... SRV & Double Trouble was (possibly most unlikely) to succeed into the higher realms of greatness, and they surely tore it up & lit a fire under that misconception, and turned this God willed, determined, man full of NO-STOPPING ENERGY, AND TO SEE HIM ON AUSTIN CITY LIMITS WAS MELLOW & MIND BLOWING! HE WAS THE GREATEST, IMO. I never tripped while watching him live, but I might have enjoyed it.... You couldn't take your eyes off him... Men & Women. He was a star burning ever so brightly!
WITH INFLUENCE FROM Jimi, Clapton, Muddy, Buddy Guy, & so much more, including his brother Jimmy & the Fabulous Texas Thunderbirds....
He soaked it all up as a youngster with the odds against him, and he proved to be the genius he didn't realize he was.
He was MUSICAL, A GUITAR WILDMAN, & thank God he stayed out of political circles & controvery. He was smart like that. Like Elvis too... Carefully spoken.
Yeah, I bet Stevie would be a bit heartbroken over the later disposition Austin became extremely left winged, in a Solid Red, Conservative, Bible Belt state I cant help what he'd feel about Austin now, but I have a feeling he'd be doing what he always did: played badass guitar, stayed in his beloved home on the lake with loved ones. He loved his surroundings, and kept his political opinions to himself, and grew larger than life cause he was solid in his craft.
I think he was an angel sent from heaven to spread love, peace, intelligent talks, & hopefully been in true love/happiness/content & maybe had a few Stevie Jrs, or otherwise.
The sky was his limit. He was almost too good, too kind, too loving, too unselfish, too good for this world, that's ever growing out of control.
Just like Jimi Hendrix. Ahead of your time baby!!
Im glad I seen him, met him, loved his persona, smile, laugh, and Felt such awe for him while it lasted....💞💔💕💗💛💚🤍💙💜💖
RiP with your soul hanging out with Jesus. I know you were saved & took Jesus as your saviour!! God knows what's going down. Stevie was in the right place at the right time, even on his last night, cause he's a son of the Most High God. Amen.
Love always, you Oak Cliff Miracle. Cant wait to see you in the spirit world. What a pleasant sight. RiP my buddy Stevie... 🌷🌳🌹🌿

There was a Fender Stratocaster he saw in a pawn shop he really wanted but he didn't have the money so his wife Lenny went to several of her friends and got $10 to $30 from each of them and bought the guitar for him, when she gave it too him he named it Lenny after her and sat at the foot of her bed that night and wrote the song Lenny for her.
It really is a beautiful song.

Don't bother with his studio albums, if you want his real flavors stick to live and bootleg stuff.
That's what really stunk when we lost him.. he used to play in hole-in-the - wall-bars, unannounced, or barely announced
that's how I was introduced to him.
And when he passed away, we were stuck with studio albums.
It was tough to get live bootleg stuff back then - you had to get it out of Mexico or Europe.
Having the internet let's us go back and see some of the concerts we heard on albums, that would not necessarily be heard in Austin the collaborations he did with Buddy Guy and dozens of top musicians...
That's where he's come back for his older fans - we get his live stuff on TH-cam.
His concerts far beyond any studio album. One night you'd hear a 10 minute version of Mary had a little lamb, or Superstition, the next time you'd see him play? Theyd jam on 1 of those songs for 45 minutes... Or go back and forth between those two songs
We didn't "listen" to his live concerts - it went through us.
Totally bypassed the ears, and went straight to your soul.

It's Horrifying To See Just How Addicted To & Dependant On Drinking (Likely Laced w/Cocaine😭) Stevie Was @ This Point In '85....Before He Finally - Thank God - Hit Bottom & SURVIVED!... In September Of '86 - Then Got Into Detox & A Good Rehab Program & Got Completely SOBER - & Sober He Remained Till He Left Us In Late August Of 1990🙏 What A Blessing!! Stevie's Recovery From That Level Of Substance Abuse Wasn't Likely...But God Had His Back & Stevie Was Willing, Ready & Worked HARD For It! His Sobriety Meant Everything To Him, As He Shared w/His Audience In Every Live Performance After Returning To The Road To Tour.... I Was Already In AA/12-Step Recovery When I Heard Stevie Tell This Story - The Last Time (Of Many) That I Saw Him Live - Just A Few Weeks Before That Horrible Crash & We Lost Him....But I Know It Meant Everything To Stevie To Share HIS Way-To-Close-To-Death Story With Everybody He Could & Try To Warn Them Not To Do Drugs...Because The Cost Was Too High & The Losses Too Great, & Too Permanent....This Was A Very GOOD & Caring Man - Aside Of The Incredible Talent & Personality He Was Blessed With - He TRUELY Was Awesome With People & Sincerely CARED About Them...Especially His Fans - He Didn't Want To See People Suffer Or Die Needlessly! I Sure Never Expected THAT Out Of An International Rock/Blues Superstar In The 1980's....BRAVO AGAIN, STEVIE!! I'M STILL PASSING ON YOUR STORY, STRENGTH & HOPE!!🙏 I HOPE FOLKS WILL KEEP LISTENING! GOD BLESS, LOVE YOU!❤SOUL💞SOUL!

But, yes, what an incredibly soft spoken, humble man.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a beloved UFO that landed upon the early '80s. He changed everything. Whiskey voice. A hundred miles of swagger. Those hands. That guitar. He was the real deal. If you missed him, I'm sorry.
This video captures his unique intensity...warm and intelligently friendly, with a flash of danger. God broke the mold when he made SRV.

RIP Stevie, Clifford Antone and Lonnie Mack. Saw Stevie, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon play at the old Opera House that was located just a block or so, East of Congress, South side of the bridge. He had really short hair and was playing on a Fender Super Six Amp. Then a row of Fender Super Showman Amps. Had Plexiglass in front of them, so as not to kill the audience. Then saw him on Auditorium Shores come out and play a couple of songs with his brother, when The Fabulous Thunderbirds were playing on Auditorium Shores.

Yeah, he was still almost 2yrs shy of getting sober here, getting sober on 10.13.86 . You can tell he was beginning to run out of gas at this point; skinny as hell, looks / sounds wore-out, etc. Thank God he got sober and gave us 4yrs of his best music; also inspiring others with alcohol and drug issues to get sober. God, I miss this man! :/

But thank God he recognized it and with help was able to over come this difficult period in his life and come out of it strong, healthy and full of life and wonder! The thing that remains true even during this period of Stevie's life is his humbleness, respect and love for people! Thank God for Stevie Ray Vaughan! He is deeply missed and loved!

Knew about him before anyone else in Boston. Saw his first 'appearance' in Boston. I Iknew what was coming, and smirked when I heard collective jaws dropping to floor. Then mid career in the Jeff Beck/ S.R.V Guitar Clinic. Then (in NH) weeks before he went down. Surreal talent. I think seeing him in this situation is pretty cool. He had better social skills than most of the Stratospheric guitar players. Sure he was high and drunk. He was a young guitarist with crazy talent and energy. I'm happy he cleaned up too but this interview shows Stevie as follk. Very interesting.
