Snakes can go a year or more with out food as long as they have fresh water. I had a ball python go off food for 11 months. I tried frozen thawed mice, rats and birds. I even tried live food ( something I hate doing ) all with no luck. Then one day he ate a FT mouse thank goodness. I was told this is not uncommon for Ball Pythons to do this. I was told someone had one that went off food for two years
I spent a year on Guam in 1076 when in the uSAF. Things were pretty well at the time, and the island had much wildlife. I hear things are now horrible due to these snakes. Gua also has Agent Orange on it, as it was used there up until 1981 = ten years after it was banned. Because of that I now have severive connected Parkinson's disease and am ninety percent disabled. All because a few officers decided they know more than the EPA, who'd banned it.
So true about snakes being able to not eat for months. I have a Western hognosed snake that went on a hunger strike last August and didn't eat until the following May. I got him as a baby and probably thought he was supposed to hibernate until the cold Canadian temps warmed up.
Introduce snakes that eat snakes, that don't climb trees, then put barriers around the trees, starting with the largest trees first, that the brown tree snakes can't get past, where birds are most likely to nest. Then at least all you have is a ground dwelling snake left to deal with, once the job is done. The barriers on the trees, if fitted with small holes can allow insect to pass, most of which could simply crawl around or fly past anyway. If there is a snake above the barrier already, it will eventually want to come down to either seek a new hunting spot or to mate. Once all the snakes leave that tree, the birds using them will be safe. I realize that this wouldn't be easy, but through time, I think it could limit the Brown Tree snake's stranglehold on Guam and help give the birds a new lease on life.
I have a ball pythons as pets and one of them chose not to eat for more than 11 months despite being offered food regularly. He barely lost any weight and was perfectly fine.
5:44. I was in a power 🔋 outage. A typhoon 🌀 hit The Philippines 🇵🇭 . Power 🔋 was out for 8 hours. Future typhoons caused outages for more hours , even days.
To eliminate both snakes and toads, they could try using pherones. Bee remival services sometimes employ the pherones of a queen bee to atteact a colony. Pherones of female snakes could be used to attract male snakes into a trap. The same applies to frogs. "Fear" pherones could be used to chase the snakes and frogs from a location. Kerosene does the same. But pherones are more environmentally friendly.
A giant WAVE of cooking shows that showcase tasty and trendy recipes for the BROWN TREE SNAKE. The government can pay celebrities to eat these "gourmet reptiles" at their parties when they vacation in Guam. But, you must name the "dish" something OTHER than "brown tree snake". "No predators," you say? They'll be hunted to extinction in no time.
It’s obvious where the snakes originated from & so the population of that Island need to organize litigation against the importers of the snake & which essentially was an invasive species ! 🤔
Has anybody tried making these snake dishes? Snake barbecues, snake fried, Snake sandwich, brown Snake soup, boiled Snake with cheese and decorated with carrots, onions, Snake cutlet, Snake cooked in Soya and other sauces, Snake sausages, Crunchy and cripsy dried snakes, Ice ream with thin Snake slices and chocolate sause Snake Biryani, Snake curry , snake Massala, Boneless snake, Snake noodles, snake pasta, Snake Parathas,
Try six weeks! Did that after a hurricane in '79. People RIGHT NOW in western NC and eastern TN are still without power after Tropical Storm Helene caused mountain rivers to rise twenty feet above normal. Entire small towns and whole neighborhoods washed away. Entire families living in tents now that winter is here! Pray for them!
This is exactly what happened in Florida they released a Python on purpose thinking it could help reduced a rat. Now Python are everywhere they eat anything
Hurricane Andrew hitting the warehouse where the zoo kept its reptiles when not on display is where the pythons came from. Andrew even took out the National Hurricane Center!
I like the way you stretch things out you maybe wandering 1366 is only 1 thousand plus. BUT DEFINITELY NOT COUPLE THOUSANDS MAKE WANDER WHAT OR HOW MUCH OF THIS STORY YOU ARE STRETCHING 😅😅😅

Just survived Hurricane Helene, power and water was out for 11 days. There are still people here who've been out since it happened. Over 7 weeks after
Man has caused this type of foreign introduction wherever he goes!

Especially in Western Civilization via taxation without representation , aka, " diversity " since the mid-60's !

I grew up in a house without electricity, mains water and gas.
Reptiles in general can go amazing time without eating but healthy snakes, crocks and gators can go a year or longer without eating :)
It's happening here in the United States to, other ppl bringing snakes from other countries here and now the snake's have taken over😡‼️

The photographs keep showing different snake species .
let loose honey badgers there real good at being rid of snakes
Then there would be a problem of invasive honey badgers.
I think they would eat pets and attack people probably.
@@michaelhaywood8262 No pets or children would be safe.
Thank you
They need some mongoose in guam.
Yup, all male so they won't be there after one life cycle. Maybe bobcats would be better, they're too fast for any snakes....
Honey badgers about, several hundred,
This video is way too long. I lost interest after five minutes and I have a very keen interest in snakes. The script needs serious editing!
i was looking for one who noticed this. its got issues unrelated

Interesting. However...The pop ups for comment, like are obnoxious & annoying. The constant visual pops up distract from the story.
Vashon island WA power out 8 days and 9 nights. Yah! The dark ages were really dark.
Why nobody mentions the magic word... Mungoos.
What would a king cobra do with a six year old around? Are they cases of them supporting kids? Asking for one...
I think snakes can go without food 6 months.
My power outage lasted 8 days
Depends on the species and the health of each individual snake.
Up to 1yr. Was the record back in the 70s
Is this snake venomous...cant wait its too long....many unnecessary info added...
What about rats ? Does this snake like rats ? Lol and where can i get them ! Hell, ill adopt some of them .
6 months to a year, and they hold on to the life juice from the males up to a year as well
🤙🏻
Oahu has no snakes they brought in ferrets and you see ferrets everywhere now...that was in the early 90s but i dont know the ful l history of it.

About 8-12 months with out food

6 months?
it lasted for 3 days
mongoose. problem solved
The mongoose would make matters worse because it would prey on the snake and the same lizard and birds the snake was eating.
