How to Calculate Here are two ways to calculate a percentage change, use whichever method you prefer: Method 1 Step 1: Calculate the change (subtract old value from the new value) Step 2: Divide that change by the old value (you will get a decimal number) Step 3: Convert that to a percentage (by multiplying by 100 and adding a "%" sign) Note: if the new value is greater then the old value, it is a percentage increase, otherwise it is a decrease. Method 2 Step 1: Divide the New Value by the Old Value (you will get a decimal number) Step 2: Convert that to a percentage (by multiplying by 100 and adding a "%" sign) Step 3: Subtract 100% from that Note: if the result is positive it is a percentage increase, if negative, just remove the minus sign and call it a decrease.
B is the initial value. For percentage change, the formula is [Final value - Initial value] / Initial Value. The square brackets [ ] mean absolute values. So [5/6B(final value) - B(Initial value)] / B (initial value) is same as [Initial value - final value] /initial value.
thx a lot sir for ur osome work .........sir plz try to cover more topics plzz it will help us a lot.........plz plz plz sir do it ...........& thx for giving ur time for making suck useful videos ...

Sakshi Gaur , There is no fixed base, for both the companies, there cant be any fixed answer, , I mean according to the question, x(10/100 + 1) + y(20/100 +1) = 118/100, I mean what are the values of x, and y, taking 100 as base for both the conditions wont work, you have to fix different bases so that ultimately the combined enhancement of 110x% + 120y% = 118% more from x + y., if x and y are not fixed, there cant be a fixed answer to it., allegation concept wise, 2/10, for mining and 8/10 for manufacture, then 8/10 for mining, and vice versa, how come 50% an increase..?
the whole lecture on % was good. but u did a mistake in equations Question finding a calculation of % change = (final value - initial value)I.V its -B/6.

nks gll i am pro at percentages your probability helped me a lots thank you very much
Easily understood Clearly explained
one of the best explainations...
For that equations question ,for fv-iv =B-5/6B=B/6, then how can u consider the iv as B? That step totally confusing?could anyone explain it?
yes I am having the same doubt . can anyone pls explain it?
B is the initial value. For percentage change, the formula is [Final value - Initial value] / Initial Value. The square brackets [ ] mean absolute values. So [5/6B(final value) - B(Initial value)] / B (initial value) is same as [Initial value - final value] /initial value.
thank u so much!!! i now have a vivid understanding of percentages!!!
makes basic concepts clearer
thanks :)
just awesome explanation.

I've done this equation in the following way(Please tell me if i'm wrong)
A=(1+1/5)B
A=(6/5)B
So to find the percent to decrease B
B=(5/6)A
B=(1-1/6)A
1/6= 16.66
Hi, Gill I think u're doing a great job! Can u pls also upload a tutorial on Profit and loss concepts and tricks. :) thanks

the ans will come according to the graph no of managers in 1980 is 15 and the rate at which it increases i 1 in every 3 years so from 2000 to 2007 inclusive the increase in the no. will be by 2
thank you sir
tanq u for providing such a excellent video
pls provide more videos
In your practice question you solve the answer and last ans. You write (1+8/9) = 17/9 how it's possible
Doesn't seem like you're preparing for any competitive exam.-_-

at 31:01 , how did it became B/6 ? pls help
Its the change of B from B to 5B/6
FV should be 5/6, IV B, if calculated ans is not B/6
Perfect Scores Premium TV (GRE/GMAT/CAT) Hi! a doubt, isn't it?
Initial value is B and final value is 5B/6. then Final -Initial =5B/6-B= -B/6????
or assuming the case Initial - Final----===B-5B/6 = then B/6
then overall change in % becomes B/6/B = 1/6 ans ?
which way is right...taking initial value as B leads to negative of B/6 (for final - initial equation)
which one is right?

Sakshi Gaur
mining and manufacturing industries are in the ratio of 1:4
Using the mixtures we will get the ans as 50
Sakshi Gaur , There is no fixed base, for both the companies, there cant be any fixed answer, , I mean according to the question, x(10/100 + 1) + y(20/100 +1) = 118/100, I mean what are the values of x, and y, taking 100 as base for both the conditions wont work, you have to fix different bases so that ultimately the combined enhancement of 110x% + 120y% = 118% more from x + y., if x and y are not fixed, there cant be a fixed answer to it., allegation concept wise, 2/10, for mining and 8/10 for manufacture, then 8/10 for mining, and vice versa, how come 50% an increase..?
Benefitting in 2020 :)
