- Located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the Crystal Hall was designed to be a modern Gurukul where students come to study at the residence of the guru, the surroundings reflecting the philosophy of the teacher in its ambiance.
#GlassInDesign is a series presented by Saint-Gobain ( / @saintgobainindiaglass... ) in association with #Buildofy
The confluence of the five elements - earth, wind, fire, water, and ether, makes this paleo-modern home rooted in the past yet global in its approach.

The harmonious juxtaposition of modern materials with nature, the use of the golden ratio, the confluence of the five elements, the multi-faceted use of glass, and various art and pop-culture connotations are some of the key highlights of this project. It follows a new aesthetic philosophy of form follows function follows feeling. The Principal Architect walks through the house and explains how he worked out the concepts of paleomodernism, inspired by past traditions and elements of design while keeping in mind the place, time, and technology of the present.

This house can be kept and preserved as a museum in future
This is not a home ,this is art from a artist expressing this creativity. It feels good that people are doing things like this in our contry, where many would aurgue that it is a waste of money.
It really takes a brave heart to stand out with such a contemporary style 👏👏A creator always follows his heart ♥
Is this the busy work of a brave heart or an overprivileged, undertalented narcissist desperate for attention?
@@JENTHINKSO Well said..................if I have money I can build much better house than this. Also who will keep all glass clean everyday..................seems like Babuprak's dad
Indeed its a buliding not home or either house.
I would have called it impractical, cold and even sterile. But after listening to him, I think it's perfect for his personality, tastes and requirements. What a lovely structure and a wonderfully put-together story!
These buildings will become practical in future because every practical thing was once impractical.🙄🙄🙄🙄
Not everything has to be practical. When one has the means, one should go with their heart. This is an incredible project. The Architect is obviously a man with elegant taste.
It is definitely an art. But highly impractical
Thought the same
can't agree more brother
Somehow yes as in too heavenly, too good to be true.. 🍷
For sure the Crystal hall can serve as a practical habitat and yet.. Be unbearably boring all at
the same time!
Better than dense houses of Indian cities
True labour of love and passion. You can sense the passion in the architects eyes and voice. Beautiful.
Not a house, it's a monument.. can clearly see the level of passion and craziness the owner/architect has for this building.. Personally, I didn't like the facade and it's practicality from the inside, as much as I loved it from the outside. The exterior just attracts the entire surroundings towards itself. Undoubtedly, the most unique kind of structures I have witnessed.
He is a main character ...i am glad ppl in India are doing such things too...such projects are usually found aabroad...kudos to this man...also imagine like classy cocktail parties or something similar in this house...with the fire place in front, someone playing on the piano....truly a movie scene
The creator is great. I have rarely seen any video expressing such huge knowledge and clarity. Loved it.
This is not cozy, warm home but a place to play with emotions. This can be easily the best second home! What a marvelous structure!
Gazab...Gazab....And it quantifies the proverb that "Those who have houses of glass donot threw stones at others' houses......
Bangalore is a dreamer's city 🎉. Very happy to see an architect with so much in-depth thought to create his own magic world
There are many things to get inspiration from......but as a whole and for a home the building is too flashy, all this glossy white makes my eyes uncomfortable
Maybe you wil get used to it if you live there.
Agreed....this seems like a structure...not a home
I have visited the house. It is very calm and soothing!
It’s not for you dear😂😂😂😂
@@Erraticus12 how did you get such a great chance?
do you know them personally ?
What a warm and cosy little house ❤ doesn't look like musium at all.
Thomas i feel you are an artist in disguise of an architect, man you are simply amazing. The way you explain things and how it got executed is nothing less than a miracle, I'm sure you are still not satisfied but well done.
Creativity at its best...
Beauty at its peak!! Any one can pass a whole day staring at this piece of art!! 👌🏻
Day .. . I can pass my whole life doing the same ❤
I am most certain that other creative architects have thought of similar designs ideas. However, to execute such unconventional ideas and design into reality is not something we see often, especially in India. Such ideas remain as ideas and concepts. However, here we have an opportunity to witness someone who made it a reality. Such talented and courageous India architect. Imagine spending time talking to him and listening to him about his designs and ideas. Phew!
Full of ventilation ,full of positive energy ,simple yet majestic
Marvelous, from the title of the video, to the content displaying dedication toward perfection and in the last but absolutely the best part; its ending showing the generosity and vision of the creator.
Those are the ideal takeaways from it
His kids can’t play a cricket in his lawn😂😂😂😂
C'est un fou
I believe he is enough rich.. so his kids can play at a stadium.. think big man..
Can't play leather cricket ofcourse...but tennis cricket yes coz they are made of toughned glass
Tu pakka chomu hoga
@@mahagonidesignstudio honestly, a lot of people waste their money into idiotic things..so it's not exactly 'rich'.
He is passionate about his work, his art, can see clearly the way he elaborate his art.
The host is very well articulated. It was a honour listening how his vision worked.
This guy is absolutely bonkers!!! and im all for it!!
Reversed cross. My man hasn't seen conjuring.😂 Jokes apart, very bold design, not probably a house but more of a museum or monument.
🍷😆
They call it satanic there
He is so excited and happy to share the details about this home definitely he is an artist
This takes the saying, "people living in glass houses...." to a whole new level. Keeping the glass clean is going to be a nightmare. The summer temperature would be very high in there.
Hello sir…I m seeing someone who is as passionate as me about homes..i m crazy about homes..not houses..having a dream home is my biggest dream..i m into meditation n all..I love all elements of your house. Amazing home I have ever seen..it’s best till date.
Started watching n stopped after few minutes bcoz its beyond my understanding......tooooooo much creativity
Amazing
Hello sir,
I am an interior design student and this has helped me a lot in my project because i am designing a library. Initially my thought was to merge the building into the nature and i thought i would be baseless but after watching this i am inspired.
So, thank you for inspiring me and i will takeaway many things from this project.
Bold and one of a kind! Full points for uniqueness and creativity. In this house surrounding greenery is calming but house feels cold and exposed.
OMG,
is this even real ? every area and details that they showed is more than awesome,
its not just a home, its an art piece, what a vibe,
thanks for covering this home, the owner who is an amazing architect and nice enough to show it openly,
that too in Bangalore, dint know there was such passionate stuff in IN,
is there anything that cannot be appreciated here?
my feeling is just wow at this moment,
It is like an eerie tomb
This is a Masterpiece.
Superb very multitalented person it’s shows how educated you are what A tasted of Life 👏👏👌💐
this is an example of when house done architecturally
Following architects for a long time, it's simply phenomenal
What an act of artistic display. Sheer marvel. Really heartening to know there are architects of this nature in India. I also have similar craziness ... Will definitely touchbase with you Thomas, when my dream start becoming a reality. Kudos to you.
Great work done super story
This is insane 🤯....Great work ❤
My God!wht a imagination! Person is so mch enthusiastic, passionate n excell in his work. Too Bravo. He came up with very unique concept.
So different and refreshing
☝️☝️☝️Incredible construction. Jai Karnataka 🇮🇳🕉️🇮🇳
CRAZY.... But then all art is crazy.... Well done...
This house is as cold as my heart ♥️
I love it!
That's not a compliment!
Poet not only imagined but manifested physically ❤
Multifaceted mind worked on what he wants no matter what
Taste pride and involvement!!
This was lovely to watch. Great idea. I don't like how exposed it would make me feel. I sincerely appreciate the thought and the willingness to push past the norm. Kudos to him. I hope one day, I have the means to be able to create a house the way I envision it.
Just loved the uniqueness and creativity and act of courage to make a home with glass which in the end comes out to be a very beautiful space within nature. Like there is nothing but there is something.
At least he didn't waste someone else's money😅
Fascinating!!
It’s a very unique take on modernism .. but best of luck maintaining glass
one of the best piece of living ART.
Such an impractical house lol. A huge grand hall with nothing in it... and you kept talking about proportions and golden ratios when the hall is huge but the 2 wings of the house look tiny in comparison. It's like the whole house is just an atrium and the rooms were an afterthought.
You know nothing about design
I believe they haven't move in yet 😂😂....
I really admired you through your last word God bless you brother🎉
WOW 🤩 INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL 😍 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Unique guy ... He must be thinking alot
Hats off to u really so beautiful and ultimate idea.
Creativity - yes
Drugs - absolutely
Hotel - trivago
I'm not sure if glass is really environmentally friendly like you said. The cities are full of huge buildings with glass facades and plenty of birds have died because they hit themselves on the facades while flying. The glass reflects the sky and deceive them. Considering the location of the building, there will be plenty of birds. Also if the glass is absolutely clear and not reflecting anything then the birds will not realise that there is a barrier and think that they can fly through only to hit themselves on the the glass.
It's ok because birds are American spies
I think birds will slowly realise that it is a glass and all that.
I mean...i have seen dogs being careful while crossing the road so as to not get hit, that means they are aware of how humans use cars.
2:03 The amount of AC units installed on this house speaks volume about thermal discomfort this house has due to its design. I would like to see a house which can naturally or lets say without AC achieve 28 to 30 degree room air temperature inside house during peak summers. Though I may personally not like the house but no hate here. It just that I feel bad, resourceful people should also invest in finding new or old technologies of keeping the house cool. We may find many videos of same but rarely someone presents temperature data inside and outside the house. Please if in future you get time and interest do build houses which don't cost much, last a decent time like cement houses or may be more, keeps thermal comfort naturally or may be with some non AC mechanical intervention. To start with search about earth air tunnels, solar chimney, thick walls etc.
What a marvelous structure
This is abslouletly stunning and its makes a statement ..
Beautiful 😍
very futruistic and beautiful.
started paying attention when he mentioned about golden ratio. Incridible living space
My wish.. my money.. my style.... tis is what he really wants tell
I don't think anyone would live there though it's beautiful
In my opinion, This building is an ' example of art' but not 'Architecture.' creator makes this just because he wanted it, not because of the site or even because they need it. I'm not saying that's wrong with it, but it's not a good example of a design of living spaces.
My childhood dream house❤...Now...we r struggling to buy 2bhk😢
Heck of a mind n planning
Incredible
Brilliant!!!!
Finally what are you going to do with this place that you created??
Loved the dna style staircases
Doshi and Correa designed buildings that had stories to behind to tell. He designed a building to create stories.
Outstanding excellent
Amazing project, so proud of you.
Ok google, show me a white elephant. ..this.
Congratulations for your dream home come true,am still waiting for our house sir, from 22 years we are in rent house dr sir
Looks great. 😊
But during summer it will heat up and become a green house.
I will copy ...Bro🎉
I have not yet found a research paper which says that a broken tempered glass can be recycled the way the regular glass can be done. I have even contacted the glass manufacturers they also show me their backyard full of broken tempered glass which they don't know what to do. It just can't be melted to make new glass the way you do it regular glass. I used glass at my home a lot and once two of them broke. Now I have a couple of bags of broken glass sitting on roof with no takers to it. Also the non broken one is hard to salvage as they are always custom size and can't be cut to resize it. All looks great but a major work of cleaning all this glass by calling professional glass cleaners from the city. The world is moving towards sustainability and if something can't be recycled should not be produced and I don't want a recycling label on it with no one really doing it. If the manufacturer can't link to a recycler to make it available for the consumer then let's stop it then and there.
This is not just tempered glass, it's laminated tempered glass which is even harder to recycle, if not impossible.
Its worlds most impractical dud.
Brilliant...extra ordinary
He should make sure that he never throws a stone on others house.
There are no other houses
Why do we feel concerned about his house?
He is a human being and haa morality as much your or me do
😂
this is so whimsical. he could achieve it coz he was the client. very few could have visualized it as a house to fund it.
Wow 👌 beautiful
I wouldn be surprised to find this house soon in a psycho thriller movie
Unfathomable mystery...
From the name to those two towers.
Love it or hate it, it is there, existing...
Loved it ❤.
amazing what a house
Appreciated
It looks like a 13 ghost house movie building
He is true civil engineer / architect , probably true passionate guy .
1:38 'Paleo' doesn't mean original or first...🤦♂ It just means ancient or primitive...😒
I love it. Its like living outside.
Saint gobain ka kaam ho gaya
The house that Rajkumar talked about in his famous dialogue - “Jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain…”
